Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra's screen grows, bezels shrink
Assuming the dimensions of the phone remain the same as its predecessor's, it means the screen's bezels will shrink to just 1.15-1.2mm all-round - very, very thin indeed. Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
Right now this is just speculation based on a recent rumor claiming that 6.89-inch screen size, and the overall size of the phone remaining the same is merely an assumption on the part of the source of this bezel size calculation, the Chinese leaker going by Ice Universe.
The S26 Ultra has already been rumored to come with a 200 MP main camera (that could be using a new Sony sensor), and a 50 MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. It might have the same 5,000 mAh battery capacity as its predecessor, but will be thinner. Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy Z series sets pre-order record in Korea, Fold tops Flip for the first time
The new Galaxy Z series from Samsung is a hit. Just as analysts predicted, it set a new record for pre-orders of foldable devices in South Korea. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 (and presumably the Z Flip7 FE) saw 1.04 million pre-orders in the week spanning July 15 to 21. That topped the previous record set by the Z 5 generation of 1.02 million pre-orders. More importantly, it beats last year's Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 pre-orders by a solid 14% (those managed 910,000 pre-orders). The Galaxy Z Fold7 saw more pre-orders than the Z Flip7 The report by ETNews contains some interesting statistics. For example, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is now the most popular model, accounting for 60% of pre-orders registered with the three major carriers: SK Telecom, KT and LG U+. The FE model is not mentioned explicitly in the report, so we don't know how the remaining 40% are divided between the two flips. For context, last year the split was 60/40 in favor of the Z Flip6. And in 2023 the gap was even wider with a 70/30 split in favor of the Z Flip5. This is the first time that the Fold has beaten the Flip. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 The demographic breakdown is quite interesting too. According to data from SK Telecom, 83% of Z Fold7 buyers were male, while the Z Flip7 skewed female with 59%. The typical buyer of a foldable phone is older now with more than 60% of pre-orders coming from people aged 30-50 years old. For comparison, more than half of Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 pre-orders last year came from people in their 20s and 30s. Blue Shadow, the most popular color for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 Finally, the most popular color for both the Fold and the Flip proved to be the new Blue Shadow. The second most popular picks were Jet Black for the Z Fold7 and Coral Red for the Z Flip7. While this report is primarily focused on South Korea, it does include a tidbit about the Indian market – the Galaxy Z 7 series saw 210,000 pre-orders in India in just the first two days. This is comparable to the pre-orders for the Galaxy S25 phones earlier this year and a record for foldables in the country. CEO of a major U.S. tech firm praises Huawei's smartphones and chips
Nvidia is the world's most valuable publicly traded company, worth $4.18 trillion dollars as the sun rises on Wall Street Tuesday morning. The company happens to make the graphic processing units (GPUs) used as AI accelerator chips. You might think a GPU helps deliver videos, graphics, and 3D graphics to the display on your phone, tablet, or computer. Yes, GPUs do all that, but the way these components handle information makes them valuable in the AI world. GPU chips handle data using parallel processing, which means that multiple tasks can be run simultaneously using multiple cores. This works great with AI since neural networks require an incredibly large number of calculations to be made at the same time. Sequential, or serial processing, handles tasks one after another, which is why central processing units (CPUs) are used for limited tasks on smaller AI models. Huawei's comeback began with the release of the Mate 60 Pro in 2023. | Image credit-Huawei Thanks to AI, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang runs the latest Wall Street darling. Designing GPUs is a competitive business, and while Nvidia has 80%-90% of the GPU business for AI, the company does have rivals, including Huawei, The latter is the Chinese company that has to deal with U.S. sanctions preventing it from accessing its U.S. supply chain and from obtaining cutting-edge chips and chip-making equipment. We should add that the sanctions placed on Huawei came after it was declared a national security threat by the FCC in 2020. At the time, Huawei was the second-largest smartphone company in the world based on shipments. Huawei surpassed Apple and was closing in on Samsung. Unable to obtain cutting-edge chips, Huawei started a comeback in 2023 when it was able to power its flagship Mate 60 line with the 7nm Kirin 9000S application processors built by Chinese foundry SMIC. With the new chipset, the Mate 60 series brought back 5G support on a Huawei flagship for the first time in four years. Huang says that if anyone takes a close look at Huawei's phones, "they will understand the technological miracles contained therein." Huang also notes that Huawei has made big improvements with its chip designs, both for AI and smartphones. Nvidia's CEO also commended Huawei for its self-driving and AI technology, giving the Chinese manufacturer credit for having strong chip and system designs, and system software. While Huawei's telecommunications and network equipment are banned in the U.S., Huang says that he sees the company as a rival, not an enemy. He said, "This company is still very competitive. They are our competitors, but we can still admire and respect competitors and maintain a good relationship with them. Rivals are not enemies. The world is big, and I hope we can continue to compete for many years in the future, but my feelings for them are admiration, respect, and competition." We can discuss things like Huawei's ability to overcome adversity, a trait it has displayed numerous times. It developed a replacement operating system for the Google version of Android when placed on the Entity list in 2019, which prevents it from buying supplies from U.S. firms without a license. Proof of how innovative the company is came with the introduction last year of the first tri-fold phone, the Mate XT. While not dismissing the federal indictment or the connections to the CCP, if you just look at the flagship phones Huawei creates, you can understand why Nvidia's CEO feels compelled to praise the devices. Galaxy Z Fold7's display can fold 2.5x times more than the Fold6, test reveals
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is the thinnest in its lineup, yet it's also more durable than its predecessor. The Fold7's folding display was certified to last more than half a million folds - 2.5 times (or 85%) more than what its predecessor achieved in a durability test last year (200,000)! Certification company Bureau Veritas completed the 500,000 folds after which the Galaxy Z Fold7 remained fully functional! The testing was done over 13 days at 25°C (77°F), simulating over 10 years of average daily use - 100 folds per day. That also translates to over 6 years of heavy use - 200 times a day! Samsung achieved the impressive jump in durability with a combination of clever hardware features. The outer Ultra Thin Glass layer atop the display is 50% thicker, and there's a newly formulated high-elastic adhesive that binds it to the OLED underneath, which provides 4x the recovery performance. Then there's a new flattening structure that spreads shock evenly across the display, and it all sits on a high-strength titanium plate. All of that's to say that despite being thinner and lighter, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is much more durable than the Fold6. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Source
