Bharat-Bhutan Mystic Mountain Tour: Journey
The tour begins with a train journey from Delhi to Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India. Upon arrival, travellers will visit the revered Kamakhya Temple atop the Nilachal Hills.
From Guwahati, the group will proceed by road to Shillong, with a scenic stop at Umiam Lake, known for its pristine waters and its border with Bangladesh. In Shillong, the itinerary includes visits to the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, the picturesque Ward's Lake, and the culturally rich Don Bosco Museum.

The final destination is Paro, with visits to Lamperi Royal Botanical Park, Tamchog Lhakhang Iron Bridge, Paro Dzong, the base of Tiger's Nest Monastery, and the National Museum.

IRCTC inks MoU with Mizoram govt to promote tourism
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Guwahati, Aug 12 (PTI) With train services to Aizawl likely to commence soon, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has entered into an agreement with the Mizoram government to promote both inbound and outbound tourism for the state, an official statement said. The two-year contract was signed earlier this month, a Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) statement said here on Monday. With the completion of the Bairabi-Sairang New Railway Line Project, undertaken as part of the capital connectivity projects, Aizawl is set to be connected with the railway network, which will greatly enhance travel and economic opportunities, it said. Once operational, railway services will extend to Sairang, just a short distance from Aizawl, significantly improving accessibility to the hill state, it added. In anticipation of this development, the IRCTC has signed the MoU with the state government. Under the agreement, IRCTC will act as the front-end marketing agency while Mizoram Tourism will provide access to tourism infrastructure, including lodges and work with IRCTC to design curated travel packages. The collaboration also aims to develop local destination management companies and service providers to arrange transport, accommodation and sightseeing with a special insight into the vibrant culture of Mizoram. This includes the colourful tapestry of festivals where communities come together with feasting, bamboo dances, traditional folk music and ceremonial rituals, the statement said. The tourism potential of the emerald valleys, lush green hills, pristine waterfalls and heritage sites of the state also stands to be further highlighted with rail connectivity. The agreement also aligns with IRCTC's plan to introduce a special tourist train under its 'Discover NE beyond Guwahati' programme, with Aizawl included as a key destination, the statement said. This service, expected to be launched soon following the commencement of train operations, will focus on budget-friendly tourism and sustainable travel experiences. Nepal Waives Climbing Fee For 97 Peaks To Boost Tourism
Nepal is making nearly 100 of its Himalayan mountains free to climb for the next two years. The Himalayan nation's government has waived the royalty for 97 peaks in the provinces of Karnali and Sudurpashchim. The step aims to draw mountaineers to the less developed region bordering China. Nepal has opened 491 peaks, but tourists mainly focus on the 25 of them in the country's northeast and central regions, including Mount Everest, the world's highest peak, which hundreds of people attempt to climb annually. The country has also hiked the permit prices beginning in September to $350 for a lower peak, up from $250 previously, and to $15,000 for Everest from $11,000, the first such increase in nearly a decade. The fee for mountains in the Karnali and Sudurpaschim regions, where peaks range from 5,970 metres to 7,132 metres, will be waived. Located in the far-western region of Nepal, these provinces are among the poorest and least developed in the country. Mountaineering is a major source of revenue for Nepal, which is home to the ten tallest mountains. Last year, climbing fees generated $5.9 million, with Everest accounting for over three-quarters of it. The country's tourism department expressed hope that the effort would highlight the "unexplored tourism products and destinations". According to Himal Gautam, a Tourism Department official, the move to waive permit costs for 97 peaks is intended to encourage mountaineering on smaller mountains in remote locations. Speaking with Reuters, Mr Gautam said, "The idea is to encourage climbers to go to unexplored yet scenic areas and mountain peaks." Of these peaks, twenty are in Sudurpaschim and seventy-seven are in Karnali province, according to The Kathmandu Post. "Despite their breathtaking beauty, the number of tourists and mountaineers here is very low as access is so difficult. We hope the new provision will help. They can create jobs, generate income, and strengthen the local economy," Mr Gautam was quoted as saying by the outlet. The removal of the permit fee will boost tourism and improve economic conditions in the least developed region of the country, he said. The country's parliament is debating a law requiring climbers to summit a mountain over 7,000m before attempting Everest, which makes the Karnali and Sudurpaschim peaks an ideal training ground, The Kathmandu Post reported.
