Indian Railways announces Mahalaya Paksha special train from September 9
Indian Railways has announced the launch of the Bharat Gaurav Train – Mahalaya Paksha Special Saptha Moksha Kshetra Yatra, coinciding with the auspicious fortnight of Mahalaya Paksha in September. Operated by South Star Rail, a Union Ministry of Tourism-recognised operator, in association with Tour Times, this is the third annual special train of its kind. The tour will cover prominent spiritual destinations such as Ujjain, Omkareshwar, Dwarka, Sidhpur, Mathura, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Gaya. A key highlight of the pilgrimage is the opportunity to perform 'pinda daan' at Gaya on the occasion of Mahalaya Amavasya. 'The package commences on September 9, 2025,' said Vignesh G., Product Director, Indian Railways Bharat Gaurav Train, South Star Rail, at a press conference held on Friday. He was accompanied by Santosh, General Manager, Tour Times. Originating from Chennai, the train will allow boarding from several stations including Gudur, Nellore, Ongole, Chirala, Guntur, Miryalguda, Nalgonda, Hyderabad, and Kazipet. Journey to south India through Bharat Gaurav Train for devotees
Patna, June 29 (UNI) Indian Railways has introduced a special 'Bharat Gaurav' train from Bihar for touring southern India offering a spiritually enriching and cost-effective pilgrimage opportunity for devotees. CPRO of East Central Railway Saraswati Chandra said here on Sunday that the much-awaited 'Dakshin Bharat Yatra', a 12-day rail tour aboard the Bharat Gaurav Special Tourist Train, will start from Bhagalpur on July 27, 2025 onwards. The CPRO said that the Yatra will offer devotees the opportunity to seek blessings, deepen their spiritual connection, and experience the divine presence at some of the most revered temples and sacred locations in Dakshin Bharat. This carefully curated pilgrimage will take travellers to Tirupati-Rameshwaram-Madurai-Kanyakari and Mallikarjuna. The tour offering multiple boarding and deboarding points, including Bhagalpur, Jasidih, Madhupur, Barakar, Dhanbad, Bokaro Steel City, Muri, Ranchi, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Champa, Bilaspur, Raipur and Durg will be completed in 12 days and 11 nights. The train will depart from Bhagalpur on July 27 and will return on August 07. Giving details of the facilities, he said that there will be two classes of accommodation. In Sleeper Class (Economy), 720 passengers will be accommodated whereas in 3AC (Standard) class, 70 seats will be booked. In the Package, the passengers will get confirmed train tickets, all meals (Tea, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner), Comfortable and clean accommodation on double- triple sharing basis (Non-AC for economy; AC for standard and comfort class), sightseeing by buses (Non-AC for economy and standard class; AC for comfort class), onboard escort, housekeeping, security and paramedical staff personnel with basic medicines. He said that the Yatra offers comfort, safety, and spiritual fulfillment all at an affordable price, making it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit multiple religious destinations in a single journey. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is launching an exclusive 14-day Bharat-Bhutan Mystic Mountain Tour. It will allow visitors to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of Northeast India and the neighbouring country. The journey begins on June 28 from Delhi's Safdarjung Railway Station. Bharat-Bhutan Mystic Mountain Tour: Journey The tour begins with a train journey from Delhi to Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India. Upon arrival, travellers will visit the revered Kamakhya Temple atop the Nilachal Hills. From Guwahati, the group will proceed by road to Shillong, with a scenic stop at Umiam Lake, known for its pristine waters and its border with Bangladesh. In Shillong, the itinerary includes visits to the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, the picturesque Ward's Lake, and the culturally rich Don Bosco Museum. The tour continues with a full-day excursion to Cherrapunji, famed for its heavy rainfall and scenic beauty. Visitors will see the Seven Sisters Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, and the Mawsmai Caves with their unique limestone formations. The return journey includes a visit to Elephant Falls in Shillong.
