Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are starting to get on a recruiting hot streak, with the big addition of 4-star wide receiver Messiah Hampton last week.

On Sunday, after a weekend of big-name recruits on campus for official visits, Oregon picked up a big recruiting prediction from On3's Steve Wiltfong. According to the recruiting analyst, Oregon is going to get a commitment from 5-star safety Jett Washington.
Washington is rated by 247Sports as the No. 18 player in the 2026 class, and the No. 2 safety in the nation. Standing at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, Washington is a lengthy safety that fits the profile of player Oregon has been after in the secondary under Lanning.

Washington took an official visit to Eugene earlier this month, and left raving about the Ducks. He is the second 5-star player to join Oregon's 2026 class, joining No. 1 ranked TE Kendre Harrison.

Oregon also briefly held a commitment from 5-star EDGE Richard Wesley, but he decommitted after just 17 days of being in the class.
Going forward, there is a good chance that Oregon stays on a recruiting hot streak, with a number of 5-star players set to come off of the board, with the Ducks in a good spot to land them.
We've seen Oregon sign top-five ranked classes the past two years under Lanning, and there is a good chance that they can do so again if they get commitments from the players who are currently projected to end up in Eugene.

Alcaraz-Raducanu is a US Open mixed doubles entry. So are Osaka-Kyrgios, Keys-Tiafoe, Swiatek-Ruud

NEW YORK (AP) — Imagine Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu competing together for a Grand Slam trophy. How about Madison Keys and Frances Tiafoe as a duo? Iga Swiatek alongside Casper Ruud? Or Naomi Osaka with Nick Kyrgios? Those are among the high-wattage pairs on Tuesday's preliminary entry list for the reimagined U.S. Open mixed doubles tournament on Aug. 19-20, before singles competition begins Aug. 24. Ten of the top 11 women in the WTA singles rankings — Coco Gauff, who just won the French Open for her second Grand Slam title, is the only one missing — and 10 of the top 11 men on the ATP tour, including No. 1 Jannik Sinner and 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic, have registered to compete for the $1 million top prize that will be split by the winners, an $800,000 increase over last year. 'Look at the field we have,' said Stacey Allaster, who's in her final year as U.S. Open tournament director. 'It is going to be fantastic for the fans.' ___ Howard Fendrich has been the AP's tennis writer since 2002. Find his stories here: More AP tennis:

Exposing disrespect in The Hobby

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS - JUNE 13: Rafael Devers #11 of the Boston Red Sox looks on in the tenth inning against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park on June 13, 2025 in Boston, Massachusetts. (Photo by) Let's talk this week about disrespect. Not about disrespecting each other, but the things in the industry that tend to get too much heat from us collectors. What do I mean? We'll, let's start with: Authentic Autos : Ok, let's run through a scenario on this one: I have two cards for sale; The first is a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander autographed Prizm rookie card. In 2018 he signed a bunch of stickers that Panini eventually took and then put one of those stickers on a rookie card and put it in a pack. SGA never once handled the card. The second is a base SGA Prizm rookie that a fan handed to him after a game and he signed and handed back to the fan; the card was then authenticated by PSA, so we know it's legit. Yeah, you'll pay 3x for the sticker auto because it's 'the real version' instead of paying for an actual card that he hand-signed. I get it, I would too, but are we not giving Authentic Autos the love they deserve? Centering : Just ask my buddy Dave Gonos, who brought this one to light in a recent conversation he had with Michael Salfino . Instinctually we tend to poo-poo centering because 'hey, it's not my fault the card isn't centered!' Everyone spends too much time looking at the corners and not enough time focusing on centering. Second-Year Cards : Everyone is rookie chasing these days. I know the product hasn't been out too long, but a Victor Wembanyama second-year base Prizm has a pop of just five PSA 10s. As opposed to his rookie Prizm which has a pop of like a million or something. Talk about 'rare.' Tennis Cards : Ok, hear me out - we are currently witnessing the greatest generation of young tennis players and it may well be that Carlos Alcaraz will go down in history as the greatest to ever do it. Pin this email and come back to it in like 16 years. If he's not I'll buy you a beer. Yo! MTV Raps 1991 Cards : There will never be another set like this. Never. And you can get a wax box of 36 packs for under $40. It basically has the 'rookie' card of every rapper from the early 90's and prior. Kingfisher 1936 Typhoo Tea British Birds and their Eggs Cards: These are cards from 1936… of birds… and their eggs! And you can get the complete set for under $10. The Nightengale's (probably) rookie card is in this set! Someone held onto them for almost 90 years and is like 'hell yeah, time to make $8 off these bad boys!' 1929 Carreras Famous Women - Florence Nightingale Cigarette Card : Speaking of… you can get a Florence Nightingale rookie card for under $15 . Nightingale is the GOAT nurse. Bro, don't come at me with 'Mary Seacole was doing the same thing but as an independent nurse, bro!!' That's a garbage take. Give me Nightingale in her prime. No disrespect to Mrs. Seacole, of course. I know it's been over 24 hours at this point but with the Red Sox trading Rafael Devers this might be the last opportunity to get a decent return on his cards. Whenever a superstar gets traded his/her new fanbase tends to pounce on any rare or rookie cards of that player. That heat cools off a few days after, but you might be able to still hit the tail-end of the 'run on' Devers cards. This week in 'can't stop, won't stop': ladies and gentlemen, Gamestop is back . They did over $211 million in increased collectibles sales in Q1. This is cool . This collector collects all baseball cards that have Fenway's Green Monster shown on the card. Love it. The closest thing I have is a collection of every card that shows the Menendez Brothers sitting courtside at a Knicks game. Killer set! I'm super excited about this news . We have WNBA Downtowns coming. Obviously, Caitlin Clark is the big get, but right behind her has to be the Paige Beuckers rookie Downtown. That actually might fetch a resale value close to Clark's. The Wyatt Langford 1/1 Rookie Debut Patch Auto sold this weekend for $183,000 at Goldin. Which makes it the third all-time highest sale for a Debut Patch 1/1 card. I'm not one to tell people how to spend their money, but – you know what, actually, I can get behind this. Advertisement The Rookie Debut Patch Auto cards are super cool looking and Langford at 23 years old is already showing some pop in his bat. Nice buy by the buyer, who hopefully was Langford himself. Fanatics Fest is back, baby. Get pumped. And according to Michael Rubin this year's is going to be '10-times better' than last year's. I know it's easy to be cynical about these celebrity, star-studded events but to be honest stuff like Fanatics Fest and The National are a big part of what make the hobby thrive. It brings the sports and entertainment worlds together, it fosters and facilitates community and more importantly it focuses on creating experiences that engage and entice young collectors. Tuesdays with Gorney: Breaking down the 10 biggest commits from the weekend

Nick Lucero/ Over the third weekend of June official visits from Friday through Sunday, 62 prospects committed to Power Four programs. Two weekends ago, there were 54. After the first weekend of June, there were 33. Advertisement Things are ramping up as the end of the month gets closer and Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney breaks down the 10 biggest pledge of the weekend in today's Tuesdays With Gorney. RECRUITING RUMOR MILL: Massive June hits midpoint CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker RIVALS CAMP SERIES: Rivals Five-Star heading back to Indy | Rivals Five-Star roster | Schedule/info Florida snatched the lead in Baker's recruitment but then after taking a visit to Florida State, it looked like the Seminoles were definitely becoming a threat. That's why it was important for Florida to land a pledge over the weekend from the four-star running back out of Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes. Baker is big at 6-foot-2 but has great speed and does not get tackled easily. The Gators have been loading up. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH FLORIDA FANS AT 1ST AND TEN FLORIDA Beating SEC teams is not easy, especially for a player deep in the heart of SEC country, but that's exactly what North Carolina did in landing Burns, who had Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Miami and others high on the list. The Monroe (La.) Neville three-star safety planned to commit in early July but after spending time in Chapel Hill, Burns canceled the remainder of his visit schedule and committed to the Tar Heels over the weekend. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH UNC FANS AT Auburn and Florida were the two standouts in Daniel's recruitment and it would have been no surprise if the four-star receiver from Tuskegee (Ala.) Booker T. Washington picked the Tigers but he continually got drawn to Florida and chose the Gators over the weekend. That's a huge win for Florida since Daniel is a big, long, rangy receiver with good hands who is not planning a return trip to Auburn. Coach Billy Napier and his staff are on a major recruiting heater now with 10 commitments in June alone and a top-25 class out of nowhere. Syracuse made a valiant effort to keep the upstate New York four-star receiver home and many others were involved but Oregon was a front-runner for some time and over the weekend he committed. The Rochester (N.Y.) James Monroe standout does a little bit of everything from stretching the field deep to lining up in the slot to returning punts to blocking his tail off. The Ducks will find many ways to get him the ball. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OREGON FANS AT The four-star cornerback from Brownsville (Tenn.) Haywood committed to Vanderbilt in late April but that's when Georgia and position coach Donte Williams really turned up the heat in his recruitment. The Bulldogs got him on campus in early June and then it was only a matter of time until he flipped to the SEC power. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH GEORGIA FANS AT Ili visited programs all across the country and at different times it seemed like Oregon, Oklahoma, Notre Dame and others were under serious consideration but his recruitment came down to USC and UCLA. The Kahuku, Hawaii four-star linebacker who originally played at Orange (Calif.) Lutheran loved everything about the Bruins, the coaches, how genuine everyone was in Westwood but USC turned it up, he had a great bond with director of high school recruiting relations Aaron Amaama and position coach Rob Ryan as the Trojans became the front-runner in the closing weeks. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH USC FANS AT Oklahoma and Texas Tech were the two other programs mainly involved in Kirkland's recruitment but the draw to stay in Waco and play for the hometown team was too much to turn down as Kirkland committed to Baylor over the weekend. The versatile 2027 four-star from Waco (Texas) University can play centerfield as a safety, can go sideline to sideline and come up and hit when needed. This recruiting cycle, the Bears went to Waco University for four-star WR London Smith. Kirkland's commitment only reinforces that connection. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH BAYLOR FANS AT After his decommitment from Ole Miss earlier this month, Florida looked like a very realistic option for the four-star receiver from Niceville, Fla., with Miami, Mississippi State and Wisconsin the others involved. Landing a commitment from Legree was huge for the Badgers, who had only one plate with four receiving touchdowns last season, so someone with his playmaking ability is needed in Madison. Was this a firm commitment or an overreaction after a great visit weekend? We'll see if those Southeast teams - including the Gators - give up. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH WISCONSIN FANS AT Texas, LSU and Florida were the final three for the four-star defensive end from Tupelo, Miss., but all signs pointed to the Gators in the last week as McCoy canceled his Texas visit to return to Gainesville. During a spring visit to Florida, McCoy said he was 'lost for words' at how 'amazing' the trip was and how he was treated there and that's when the Gators really turned the corner as a favorite. In February, Oklahoma State landed a commitment from Stewart and it looked like the high three-star edge rusher from Pearland, Texas was done with his recruitment. But Stewart started taking visits, was recently at Texas and then Illinois flipped him over the weekend. The Illini have had success developing edge rushers like him and he fits as an outside linebacker in that scheme. With 10 sacks last season, Stewart is productive. It didn't hurt that Illinois linebacker coach Archie McDaniel is a Texas native. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH ILLINOIS FANS AT
