These hotels and restaurants come icon-approved…
Jennifer Lopez has landed in the UAE ahead of her Saadiyat Nights performance in Abu Dhabi. One of the world's biggest pop icons on the planet, JLO is set to perform at the open-air venue in the UAE capital on Thursday, February 20. But ahead of her gig, JLO has touched down in Dubai – and she's already making the most of the city.
Where is she staying, we hear you wonder? It's likely that JLO has checked-in to one of Dubai's most luxurious beach resorts, Mandarin Oriental Jumeira. From an Instagram post she shared with her 250 million followers, we recognise the dazzling 'canopy of light' installation in the lobby providing a stunning backdrop.

Wearing a stunning tailored YSL two-piece in the hue of the year, mocha mousse, JLO tagged her glam squad in the post, and suitably captioned it, 'Business Trip.'
But that's not the only place we've seen JLO in Dubai this week. In a snap shared with team Emirates Woman, Jennifer Lopez was pictured at one of the hottest new spots in the city, J1 Beach. Of the dozen new restaurants there, she chose to dine at new opening Sirene Beach by GAIA, soaking up the stunning setting and dining on chef Izu Ani's lauded Greek-Mediterranean cuisine. Dressed in another show-stopping outfit, this time JLO wore a feminine Zimmerman dress for her leisurely lunch by the sea, happily posing for a photograph with the Sirene team.
This weekend as Saadiyat Nights draws to a close, music fans can look forward to some huge stars perform. After JLO on Thursday February 20, Gwen Stefani will headline on Friday February 21, and on Saturday February 22, Lionel Richie will say Hello as we say goodbye to Saadiyat Nights for another season.

‘Akhtaboot': The Arabic word for octopus spread its semantic tentacles from Greece
Seafood is popular in the UAE. Fish, shrimp, squid and more are consumed daily and cooked in a plethora of ways. One seafood delicacy that has recently become popular despite not being abundant in UAE waters is octopus. Our Arabic word of the week is a Latinised form of the Greek word oktopous. There are many other examples of Arabic words with Greek origins. Qartas, the word for paper, comes from khartes; isfinj, the word for sponge, comes from spongos; and tiryaq, the word for antidote, comes from theriake. The word akhtaboot can also be used to describe someone who is able to complete many tasks with ease. The octopus is a cephalopod mollusc with eight sucker-bearing arms, a soft body, strong beaklike jaws and no internal shell. It can be found in tropical and subtropical waters around the world. The largest species, the giant Pacific, can weigh up to 50kg and spans six metres. The smallest, the wolfi, also known as the star-sucker pygmy, weighs less than a gram. Octopus is eaten in countries like Japan, China, South Korea, Spain, Greece and Mexico. Some of the most famous octopus dishes are the Galician pulpo a la gallega, Japanese Takoyaki and Portuguese octopus ceviche. The akhtaboot is a relatively new addition to Arabic cuisine and is usually grilled or fried and served with rice.

Pop singer Jessie J says she has been diagnosed with early breast cancer
The English pop singer Jessie J says she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will undergo surgery after her performance at the London music festival Capital's Summertime Ball next weekend. Jessie J, 37, shared the news in an Instagram video on Wednesday. "I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,' she said in the clip. "Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding onto the word 'early'." "It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job. I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive (expletive) and more music.' The annual Summertime Ball will be held at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, June 15. She told her social media audience that she felt compelled to share her diagnosis. "I just wanted to be open and share it,' she said. "One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse - that's the bit that kills me.' The Grammy-nominated Jessie J has long been celebrated for her robust soprano and R&B-informed pop hits, like the 2014 collaboration with Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande, "Bang Bang,' and 2011's "Domino.' She has released five albums across her career, most recently, 2018's Christmas album, "This Christmas Day.' She has been releasing new music in 2025, including the singles "Living My Best Life' and "No Secrets.' A new album is expected later this year. She has a son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, born in 2023. A representative for Jessie J did not immediately respond to The Associated Press' request for comment. Associated Press
