Former Duke commit Shelton Henderson to sign with Miami
Five-star recruit Shelton Henderson, after decommitting from Duke last week, announced on Monday that he is following former Blue Devils associate head coach Jai Lucas to Miami.
Lucas, hired as the Hurricanes' head coach last month, had with Duke head coach Jon Scheyer recruited Henderson to Durham, N.C. The senior at Bellaire High School in Texas signed with Duke in November but received his release last Thursday and reopened his recruitment.
Henderson is ranked 21st in the nation in the Class of 2025, fourth at small forward and the No. 2 player in Texas in the 247Sports composite.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Henderson was a member of the gold medal-winning U.S. team last summer at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup, where he averaged 8.0 points and 4.5 rebounds as a reserve in six games.

Jai Lucas also has signed former Villanova commit Dante Allen and Timotej Malovec of Slovakia, as well as transfers Tre Donaldson (Michigan), Malik Reneau (Indiana), Ernest Udeh (TCU) and Tru Washington (New Mexico).

Wisconsin Secures Commitment From Versatile DB Zachary Taylor
Wisconsin Secures Commitment From Versatile DB Zachary Taylor originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After over a week without an addition to its 2026 class, the Wisconsin football team got back on the board with the commitment of 3-star defensive back Zachary Taylor (Katy, Texas). Advertisement Pulling Taylor out of Texas wasn't going to be easy, but he took an official visit to Wisconsin at the start of the month, and the Badgers took advantage of his time in Madison. Beyond Wisconsin, Taylor's official visits included West Virginia, Texas Tech, Pitt, and Houston. He ultimately chose the Badgers over the other four programs. The newest Wisconsin commit announced his pledge to the Badgers via his social media. With a background as a multi-sport athlete that includes track and soccer, Taylor's athleticism has the Wisconsin football staff extremely excited, and they anticipate he'll develop into a standout player. Advertisement He is a versatile player who has played both cornerback and safety in high school. Although he is listed as a cornerback on 247Sports, the Wisconsin staff views him as a safety. Zachary Taylor in the Recruiting Rankings Though currently rated as a 3-star prospect by major recruiting services, Taylor is a perfect example of the type of player whose ranking could significantly improve, possibly reaching 4-star status by the end of his senior year. But as of right now, here is where he falls on the major recruiting websites. 247Sports 247Sports probably has the highest rating on Taylor, albeit as a cornerback. But a rating of 89 is a borderline 4-star player on its rating scale. The 247Sports Composite has him as the 439th-overall player in the country and the 43rd-ranked cornerback. Advertisement Rivals Similar to 247Sports, Rivals has Taylor as a borderline 4-star player. Their 5.7 rating for the new Wisconsin football commit is the highest rating a 3-star prospect can get before hitting 5.8, which would give him a fourth star. The recruiting site does not have him in any national, state, or positional rankings. On3 On3 is the site lowest on Taylor. They have him as a 3-star prospect as well and a rating of just 85.95. 3-star prospects fall in the 80-89 range. They have him as the 926th-overall prospect in the 2026 class and the 83rd-ranked safety. Where the Wisconsin Football Recruiting Class Stands With the Addition of Taylor Zachary Taylor's commitment pushed the 2026 class to 12 players for the Wisconsin football program. The addition of Taylor gives the Badgers a nice little boost, pushing them from 40th to 33rd in the 247Sports Team Rankings as it currently stands. Advertisement Taylor also becomes the Bagders' top-ranked player in the class according to the 247Sports rankings. With just 12 committed players, the Wisconsin football team still has plenty of work to do in filling out the rest of this class. 4-star running back Amari Latimer is a top target for the team, and there are still a few targets at wide receiver, including Jayden Petit, Zachary Washington, and Zion Legree. Recruiting may have slowed down a bit, but there are still things coming in the near future. Dwight Howard Urges Cooper Flagg to Return to Duke Amid $28 Million News
Dwight Howard Urges Cooper Flagg to Return to Duke Amid $28 Million News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In the name, image and likeness (NIL) age, it pays to play college basketball. In Cooper Flagg's case, it pays around $28 million. Advertisement According to veteran sports reporter Howard Bryant, Flagg's solitary season with the Duke Blue Devils was very lucrative thanks to NIL deals with major brands like Fanatics and New Balance. Flagg's NIL agreement with New Balance netted him $13 million, the Fanatics sponsorship $15 million; both deals are set to follow Flagg to the NBA later this year. On June 25, Flagg is expected to go No. 1 overall to the Dallas Mavericks to tip off the 2025 NBA draft. But Dwight Howard, himself a former top overall pick, said Flagg should reverse course while he still can. Speaking on the "Nightcap" podcast with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson, Howard made the stunning claim that Flagg should return to Duke. His reasoning? With NBA contracts getting larger and the salary cap continuing to rise, Flagg could be a billionaire by the time he is 23. Advertisement "If he stays two more years and wins at least one championship at Duke, he's gonna get at least $100 million off college," Howard explained. "Then, when he goes to the league, the salary cap is gonna be higher for rookies. He's gonna make $500 million. ... He's gonna be a billionaire before he finishes his rookie contract." Howard, soon to be enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, signed a three-year, $19.5 million contract when the Orlando Magic took him at the top of the 2004 NBA draft. More than 20 years later, Flagg is expected to sign a four-year, $62.7 million contract with the Mavericks if Dallas selects him in a few weeks. Faced with the prospect of making millions right away or waiting another 24 months to do so, Flagg certainly has been advised to take the money the Mavericks are going to offer. That said, with the NBA's collective bargaining agreement set to be renegotiated in the coming years, Howard has presented an intriguing argument for future rookies to ponder.
