Wisconsin Secures Commitment From Versatile DB Zachary Taylor
Wisconsin Secures Commitment From Versatile DB Zachary Taylor originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
After over a week without an addition to its 2026 class, the Wisconsin football team got back on the board with the commitment of 3-star defensive back Zachary Taylor (Katy, Texas).

Pulling Taylor out of Texas wasn't going to be easy, but he took an official visit to Wisconsin at the start of the month, and the Badgers took advantage of his time in Madison.
Beyond Wisconsin, Taylor's official visits included West Virginia, Texas Tech, Pitt, and Houston. He ultimately chose the Badgers over the other four programs.
The newest Wisconsin commit announced his pledge to the Badgers via his social media.
With a background as a multi-sport athlete that includes track and soccer, Taylor's athleticism has the Wisconsin football staff extremely excited, and they anticipate he'll develop into a standout player.

He is a versatile player who has played both cornerback and safety in high school. Although he is listed as a cornerback on 247Sports, the Wisconsin staff views him as a safety.
Zachary Taylor in the Recruiting Rankings
Though currently rated as a 3-star prospect by major recruiting services, Taylor is a perfect example of the type of player whose ranking could significantly improve, possibly reaching 4-star status by the end of his senior year. But as of right now, here is where he falls on the major recruiting websites.
247Sports
247Sports probably has the highest rating on Taylor, albeit as a cornerback. But a rating of 89 is a borderline 4-star player on its rating scale. The 247Sports Composite has him as the 439th-overall player in the country and the 43rd-ranked cornerback.

Rivals
Similar to 247Sports, Rivals has Taylor as a borderline 4-star player. Their 5.7 rating for the new Wisconsin football commit is the highest rating a 3-star prospect can get before hitting 5.8, which would give him a fourth star.
The recruiting site does not have him in any national, state, or positional rankings.
On3
On3 is the site lowest on Taylor. They have him as a 3-star prospect as well and a rating of just 85.95. 3-star prospects fall in the 80-89 range. They have him as the 926th-overall prospect in the 2026 class and the 83rd-ranked safety.
Where the Wisconsin Football Recruiting Class Stands With the Addition of Taylor
Zachary Taylor's commitment pushed the 2026 class to 12 players for the Wisconsin football program. The addition of Taylor gives the Badgers a nice little boost, pushing them from 40th to 33rd in the 247Sports Team Rankings as it currently stands.

Taylor also becomes the Bagders' top-ranked player in the class according to the 247Sports rankings.
With just 12 committed players, the Wisconsin football team still has plenty of work to do in filling out the rest of this class. 4-star running back Amari Latimer is a top target for the team, and there are still a few targets at wide receiver, including Jayden Petit, Zachary Washington, and Zion Legree.
Recruiting may have slowed down a bit, but there are still things coming in the near future.

Pascal Siakam Joins LeBron James in History Amid NBA Finals
Pascal Siakam Joins LeBron James in History Amid NBA Finals originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Pacers' remarkable run to the NBA Finals has been defined by fast-paced scoring, stingy defense and clutch shooting, as the No. 4–seeded team knocked off the Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers before defeating the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals to earn a spot on basketball's biggest stage. Advertisement Pascal Siakam has been instrumental throughout, providing Indiana with extensive championship experience and veteran leadership. During the 2024-25 regular season, he averaged 20.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game on 51.9 percent shooting from the field across 78 contests. Through 20 playoff games, Siakam has logged 33.4 minutes per night while averaging 20.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists, along with 1.2 steals and 0.6 blocks per contest. Advertisement In Game 4, Siakam delivered a defensive masterclass—recording four steals in the first quarter—a feat unmatched in any NBA Finals quarter since LeBron James achieved the same in the 2014 Finals. That 2014 series saw James average 28.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals over five games, while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor. Despite his two-way brilliance and one of the greatest Finals performances in history, Miami fell to the Spurs 4–1. As the series shifts back to Oklahoma City for Game 5, Siakam's historic quarter stands as a testament to his two-way impact, placing him in elite company and spotlighting his pivotal role in Indiana's championship quest. Florida football lands commitment from four-star RB for 2026 class
Florida football secured its eighth commitment for the 2026 class, landing a pledge from running back Carsyn Baker. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Baker rushed for 1,282 yards and 13 TDs last season at Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Georgia. He chose the Florida Gators over offers from South Carolina, Florida State, Alabama and Auburn. Advertisement Baker is rated a three-star per 247Sports and a four-star per 247Sports Composite, as the 187th-best player nationally and the 15th-best running back in the country. Per 247Sports recruiting analyst Hudson Standish, Baker a, "Physically imposing upright runner hovering a shade under 6-foot-1, 195 pounds with a blazing track and field profile. Finished his junior season with three straight 100+ yards performances, culminating with a three-touchdown effort in the GHSA AAAAA state final against national powerhouse Milton. Finds success running outside/wide zone, quickly finding a crease and reaching his top-end gear that the majority of Friday night defenders cannot match." Baker is UF's first true running back in the 2026 class although four-star Gainesville Buchholz High commit Justin Williams is listed as an athlete who can play both running back and receiver. Cameras Catch Rory McIlroy Meltdown at Oakmont Club in US Open
Cameras Catch Rory McIlroy Meltdown at Oakmont Club in US Open originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Cameras in the grandstands and on broadcasting towers were rolling as Rory McIlroy reached his breaking point during the second round of the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club. Advertisement After misplacing his drive at the drivable par‑4 17th, McIlroy spun around in frustration and unleashed a powerful swing, obliterating the white tee marker with his driver. The outburst quickly went viral on social media, underscoring just how punishing Oakmont can be. He was not the only one; several others, like Scottie Scheffler and Shane Lowry, also lost their cool during the event. Despite that meltdown and an earlier club‑throw on the par‑5 12th, McIlroy rallied when it mattered most. After flirting with disaster through much of his round, he rolled in a clutch five‑foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to card a 72 and squeeze past the cutline at six‑over par. He has played a tough Open and performed poorly before so this emotion isn't new." A fan commented. Advertisement "Was glad to see him get the slam but hard to root for a guy who behaves like this" Another said. "Good thing he won at Augusta cuz my man does not handle failure any better than a petulant child." One fan posted. "Classless behavior from Rory McIlroy. Don't judge someone's character from how they act in victory, judge it by how they act in defeat. Rory has no class." Another wrote. "My kids are happily watching the US Open and just saw Rory McIlroy destroy the tee marker. They are scarred for life, asked me to turn it off. What a terrible example he just set" A fan expressed. Advertisement "For someone who's carried the PGA Tour's banner. Rory McIlroy's recent behavior, media silence, outbursts, board drama, feels off. Not a great look. ⛳️👀" Another said.
