Nebraska wide receiver target commits to Illinois The Nebraska Cornhuskers missed out on a top class of 2026 target. Wide receiver Nasir Rankin announced his commitment to the Illinois Fighting Illini on Wednesday night. Rankin chose Illinois over other finalists Duke, North Carolina, USC, and Nebraska. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Rankin is the No. 9 overall athlete in the 2026 class and the No. 2 overall athlete from the state of Illinois. Last season, he had 40 catches for 991 yards and 12 touchdowns for Morgan Park High School. The 247Sports Team Rankings have the Huskers' 2026 recruiting class ranked No. 61 overall and No. 17 in the Big Ten Conference. The class has four commits, led by cornerback CJ Bronaugh. Nebraska to host class of 2027 Florida defender next month Nebraska football will host 2026 four-star edge defender Kamron Wilson on June 6-8. This will replace California on his official visit schedule. This was first reported by Tim Verghese on Tuesday. Wilson is the No. 43-ranked edge in the 2026 class and the No. 67-ranked player in his class from the state of Florida, according to the Rivals rankings. He is currently committed to the Syracuse Orange. He is set to have a busy summer, as several official visits are lined up. He will begin his visits on May 30, when he visits the Minnesota Golden Gophers. He will then visit the Huskers on June 6-8. He will make a stop at Syracuse on June 13 and then visit Florida State on June 20. Currently, the 2026 Nebraska football recruiting class has four commitments. According to the 247Sports Team Rankings, the class ranks 50th overall in the country. Wilson would be another major get from the state of Florida. Nebraska has made that a priority recruiting area, and has managed to land some premier recruits. Morgan, who has Alabama listed among his six finalists, will announce his commitment decision July 2 between the Crimson Tide and five other programs.
