Alabama defensive line target reportedly pushes back commitment decision

According to a report, an Alabama Crimson Tide football recruiting target has pushed back his commitment date. Yes, per a report from 247Sports' Tom Loy, Elijah Golden has reportedly pushed back his commitment to Aug. 9 at 3:30 p.m. ET. Golden's commitment was previously scheduled for July 26 where he was set to decide between four programs - Alabama, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Virginia Tech. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Golden is considered as the nation's No. 184 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class at the moment, as well as the No. 26 defensive lineman nationally. A four-star prospect, Golden also ranks as the No. 26 player in the state of Florida this cycle where he attends Cardinal Mooney High School. Alabama's 2026 recruiting class currently ranks No. 5 nationally according to the 247Sports Team Rankings with 19 total commitments. Could the Alabama Crimson Tide potentially add yet another quarterback to its' 2026 recruiting class? Yes, even despite Alabama already owning a commitment from signal collar Jett Thomalla, the Crimson Tide are reportedly trending to land another quarterback in the 2026 class, per On3's Steve Wiltfong. That prospect is four-star Tayden Kaawa, who ranks as the nations No. 345 overall player in the 2026 class, per the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings. Kaawa is also considered as the No. 6 player in the state of Utah where he attends Orem High School, as well as the No. 24 overall quarterback in the cycle. At the moment, a commitment date is not currently set for Kaawa, but could be coming in the near future, according to Wiltfong. Other schools in the mix for Kaawa's commitment include the likes of BYU and Boise State, among others. Alabama's 2026 class currently ranks No. 5 nationally according to the 247Sports Team Rankings with a total of 19 commitments. Of those 19, four are currently considered as five-star prospects. A program with an extensive amount of momentum on the recruiting trail at the moment, could yet another major commitment be coming for the Alabama Crimson Tide? Yes, on Thursday afternoon, Alabama was named among the finalists for another one of the nation's elite recruits, this time coming from in-state in highly-touted edge rusher Anthony "Tank" Jones. Per a report from Rivals' Hayes Fawcett, Jones has narrowed down his list of finalists to three, listing the Crimson Tide alongside both Oregon and Texas A&M. According to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings, Jones is currently considered as the nation's No. 16 overall prospect in the 2026 class, as well as the No. 3 edge rusher nationally. A five-star prospect, Jones is also ranked as the No. 2 overall player in the state of Alabama where he attends St. Paul's Episcopal School. Alabama's 2026 class currently ranks No. 6 nationally, according to the 247Sports Team Rankings, with 17 total commitments, three of which are five-star prospects. The most recent of those came this past Wednesday when wide receiver Cederian Morgan committed to the Crimson Tide. Sutter's commitment to the Crimson Tide was announced via a post on social media. Advertisement At the moment, Sutter currently ranks as the nation's No. 80 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, as well as the No. 6 tight end this cycle. A four-star prospect, Sutter is also considered as the No. 1 overall prospect in the state of Illinois where he attends Dunlap High School. Following the commitment of Sutter to Alabama, the Crimson Tide's 2026 class is currently up to No. 11 nationally, according to the 247Sports Team Rankings with a total of 12 commitments. On Friday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide landed a commitment from a local product, as in-state standout Zay Hall announced that he had committed to the program. Hall is the sixth different player to commit to Alabama so far this week, as well as the third within the past two days alongside the four-star duo of Ezavier Crowell and Mack Sutter. Advertisement At the moment, Hall is currently considered as the nation's No. 1,148 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. A three-star prospect, Hall is also ranked as the nation's No. 127 overall linebacker, as well as the No. 55 player in the state of Alabama where he attends Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa. The three-star prospect is the first linebacker commit in Alabama's class, as well as the fourth from in-state where he is joined by the aforementioned Crowell (Jackson), Zyan Gibson (Gadsden City), and Kamhariyan Johnson (Muscle Shoals).
