Decathlon Canada to close nearly all Ontario stores. Here's where — and when

The Greater Toronto Area is losing another large retailer. This time it's the French sporting goods retail chain, Decathlon.
Decathlon Canada announced on its website five GTA stores in Brampton, Burlington, Markham, Scarborough and Vaughan will close.
The company currently operates six stores in Ontario. The Ottawa location will remain open.
The closures are expected to happen sometime this summer, with the final date still to be determined.
Decathlon Canada says it is evolving its retail strategy in the GTA.
'The retail landscape is changing, with consumers valuing variety across online and in-store formats,' the company said on its website. 'We are adapting our approach in key markets to deliver great value, quality gear and inspire more Canadians to enjoy the wonders of sport.'
The company says it is 'staying agile' in its retail strategy and considering options for quicker, more efficient service — including the recently launched same-day shipping service, where products leave its warehouse the day customers in select regions place online orders.
The company will also continue to operate 15 retail locations across Alberta, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Quebec and British Columbia and be available through online ordering.
Affected employees will be considered for open positions in other markets, Decathlon Canada said.
'Decathlon Canada remains committed to making sport accessible to Canadians no matter where they live, and looks forward to sharing more about our retail evolution in the years to come,' the company said.

Roma monitoring Lyon's Malick Fofana

Roma are said to be monitoring several players in Lyon's squad following the French club's disastrous relegation to Ligue 2. Giallorossi sporting director Frederic Massara is familiar with Lyon's roster and has began monitoring some of their players. Advertisement In addition to Georges Mikautadze, Roma have reportedly set their sights on Malick Fofana. According to Corriere dello Sport, the Belgian winger is a player that Massara is very keen on. Having scored 6 goals and 11 assists this season, Lyon rate him for no less than 30 million. However, in case of a discount due to Lyon's recent relegation, Fofana could represent a valuable investment for the present and future of the club.
