Chiefs scouting report: Tennessee Volunteers DT Omarr Norman-Lott
The Kansas City Chiefs selected Tennessee Volunteers defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott with the 63rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. The team previously hosted Norman-Lott for a 30 visit and apparently came away impressed with the former Arizona State transfer. Chris Jones and Norman-Lott project as one of the league's most explosive interior pass rushing duos.
Norman-Lott played a rotational pass rushing role at Tennessee. He didn't play more than 250 snaps in a single season during his two years with the Volunteers, but he produced pressure on 14.9% of his pass rush attempts during that stretch. That's a staggering number for a defensive tackle.
At 6'1 7/8", 291 lbs., Norman-Lott is built low to the ground and compact. He explodes off the line with a terrific first step and instant acceleration. His lateral explosiveness makes it easy to exchange gaps and win across the guard's face as a pass rusher. Norman-Lott's change of direction and bend to flatten his rush angle are rare for a defensive tackle.
Norman-Lott's pass rush plan includes club-swims, cross-chops, long-arms, two-handed swipes and rips. His twitchy and violent hands attack offensive linemen to soften shoulders and create advantageous angles. He's a menace on stunts, similar to Braden Fiske in the 2024 draft.
Norman-Lott didn't play on many run downs at Tennessee, but his long arms and massive hands help him generate pop and quick separation. His heavy hands stun linemen and help him hold the point of attack. Norman-Lott drops his hips to play low and win the leverage battle. He's a viable pursuit-style defender with good range and excellent closing burst.
The Chiefs selecting Norman-Lott in the second round came as a pleasant surprise for some analysts, especially after Ryan Roberts for A to Z Sports reported that medical personnel flagged his right knee at the NFL Scouting Combine with a potential chronic issue. If healthy, Norman-Lott is an interior disruptor capable of maximizing the one-on-one opportunities Jones' gravity creates.

Said Theismann, "They're used to playing on unusual days, four days rest, 10 days rest, byes, and everything else. So I don't see it affecting them. I think they'll come back with a vengeance. I think last year, the way the Super Bowl ended, which was similar to the one against Tampa Bay, they just got run over and dominated. And that doesn't sit well with Andy (Reid), and I know it doesn't sit well with Patrick (Mahomes), and I expect Travis Kelce to have one heck of a year based upon, you know, his performance was a good one, but not to the standard that he sets for himself. So that'll be exciting to see as well." The annual tournament awards $750,000 in prize money, much of which the celebrity players donate to local and national charities. Over the years, nearly $8 million has been donated to non-profit causes. USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams has said that the squad are not worried about 'outside' criticism from former players after the team's recent poor form. Mauricio Pochettino's side were soundly defeated 4-0 by Switzerland in a friendly at Geodis Park in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday.
