Club World Cup 2025: Boca Juniors get Ayrton Costa boost after defender gets special U.S. visa following initial refusal

Boca Juniors defender Ayrton Costa has been granted a special United States visa after the footballer had previously rejected his application, the Argentine club announced on Friday. That means, Costa will be available at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 for Boca Juniors, hosted by the United States, starting on June 14. Costa's visa application was initially rejected by the U.S. immigration officials after the defender was subject to a criminal complaint, related to an aggravated robbery in 2018. But the footballed accepted probationary sentence in 2023 to avoid any trial. 'Ayrton Costa has been granted a 26-day special visa,' a Boca Juniors spokesperson told Reuters. Initially, the U.S. immigration officials had ruled out that Costa would not be allowed into the country as he is still serving his sentence. Earlier, the left-footed defender had given three interviews at the embassy before being denied a visa. However, Costa's case is believed to have been considered after the club appealed to FIFA. The 24-year-old Costa joined Boca Juniors earlier in 2024 from Belgium's Royal Antwerp for a fee close to USD 3.5 million. In his first season with the Argentine club, Costa made a solid impression, thus making him one of the key plyers in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. Boca Juniors have been named in Group C in the league stage with the likes of Portuguese side Benfica, Germany's Bayern Munich and Auckland City from New Zealand. Boca Juniors open their FIFA Club World Cup 2025 campaign against Benfica (June 17), followed by matches against Bayern Munich (June 21) and Auckland City (June 25). Goalkeepers: Sergio Romero, Leandro Brey, Javier Garcia, Augustin Marchesin Defenders: Marcelo Saracchi, Marcos Rojo, Nicolas Figal, Marco Pellegrino, Rodrigo Battaglia, Luis Advincula, Frank Fabra, Lautaro Blanco, Juan Barinaga, Aryton Costa, Mateo Mendia, Lautaro di Lollo, Lucas Blondel, Walter Molas Midfielders: Carlos Palacios, Ignacio Miramon, Malcom Braida, Williams Alarcon, Agustin Martegani, Alan Velasco, Andre Herrera, Kevin Zenon, Tomas Belmonte, Camilo Rey Domenech, Milton Delgado, Santiago Dalmasso, Joaquin Ruiz Forwards: Exequiel Zeballos, Milton Gimenez, Edinson Cavani, Lucas Janson, Miguel Merentiel, Brian Aguirre

Taylor Swift Surprises Kids At Florida Hospital After Attending Stanley Cup Finals

Last Updated: Taylor Swift has been busy, seen with boyfriend Travis Kelce at the Stanley Cup 2025 finals. She later surprised patients at a children's hospital in Florida. After a high-profile appearance at the Stanley Cup Finals alongside NFL star Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift made a heartwarming stop in Florida to visit young patients at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. Swift was seen wearing a sage green dress. She spent time with children, their families, and hospital staff. Soon after, images and videos of her visit went viral, capturing her speaking with patients, posing for photos, and engaging warmly with those around her. In a video shared online, Swift is seen telling hospital staff, 'It had been an amazing day." Dr. Jill Whitehouse, the hospital's chief of surgery, shared a moment from the visit on social media, posting a photo with Swift along with a heartfelt message, 'Chief of Surgery meets Chief of the World! Undeniably one of the kindest human beings I have ever had the privilege of meeting. Thank you #taylorswift for making dreams come true for all of our patients, families, and staff today!" View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jill Whitehouse (@jillywhitehouse) This is not the first time Swift has made such a gesture. In 2023, she had visited Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City a day before her birthday. During that visit, she gifted a young fan a matching Miu Miu outfit after the child complimented hers, according to Billboard. Swift has had an eventful year beyond her philanthropic visits. Just last month, she regained ownership of the master recordings for her first six albums — Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation — marking the end of a long legal battle. The masters, previously owned by music executive Scooter Braun, were later sold to Shamrock Capital for $300 million. Her record-breaking Eras Tour also concluded in December 2024, grossing over $2 billion across two years, cementing her legacy as one of the most successful touring artists of all time. Meanwhile, Travis Kelce, her boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs tight end, is reportedly in Miami for off-season training ahead of the upcoming NFL season. First Published:
