Karan Johar Said He Doesn't Want To Work With Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise: 'Don't Want Them In My Movies'

Karan Johar said he has 'no interest' in working with Hollywood actors or making an English language film. Karan Johar is among the biggest filmmakers and producers in India. As such, he has no interest in waiting in Hollywood offices to get his scripts read. In a 2012 conversation with TBIP, Karan Johar said he has no intention of working with Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise or Will Smith. He said that, unlike Hollywood, Indian cinema has a vast audience even in the domestic sense. Karan Johar said, 'We have such a large domestic audience that we have never needed to reach out. I have no interest in whether my film releases anywhere else in the world but India. The diaspora, for sure… But I don't want to work with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise and Will Smith. I don't want them in my movies." Karan added, 'I don't want to make an English language film. I have no interest in going down and sitting in an office in LA and waiting for an actor to hear my script. I have no interest. If they give me an Oscar in my lifetime, I'll accept it as gladly as I'd accept a National Award from the President. It'd probably mean more to me." The filmmaker said that while he watches the Oscars and enjoys the black-tie event on his television, he will not spend years of his life trying to win it. 'I love the movies I make. I love the world I live in. I love the fact that Hindi cinema is a part of my life. I feel blessed that I'm in this profession," Karan mentioned. He wished that Bollywood never needed to reach out to 'another country" to support its creative endeavours. Although Karan Johar mentioned that he didn't want Will Smith in his films, it is interesting that years later, the actor made a cameo in Student of the Year 2. The film was produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Meanwhile, Karan Johar recently critiqued Brad Pitt's F1. Karan Johar called F1 a fun watch despite being predictable. He wrote on Instagram, 'Familiar Tropes, predictable beats, one-liners you see coming a mile away and yet. SO MUCH FUN! You can't stop yourself from reaching the edge of your seat or gasping out loud (sic). Brad Pitt seems to have approached the role with a self-reflecting Zen mode movie star swag! So effective and landed every beat!" He said that he found the climax a bit weak, and ended by saying, 'Mildly underwhelmed with the climactic beat BUT don't miss this adrenaline race and rush (sic)."

Ranbir Kapoor Recommended Me For Ramayana, Says Indira Krishnan: ‘No Starry Tantrums'

Last Updated: Indira Krishnan says Ranbir Kapoor recommended her for Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana after they worked together in Animal. After playing Rashmika Mandanna's mother in Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal, veteran actress Indira Krishnan is all set to reunite with Ranbir in Ramayana: Part 1, where she will be seen essaying the role of Kaushalya, Lord Ram's mother. In a throwback interview with Times Now/Telly Talk India, Indira revealed that it was Ranbir himself who recommended her for the role in Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming magnum opus. Indira said, 'I did Animal with Ranbir Kapoor. After that, he recommended me for Ramayana. He is a very grounded person and never shows any starry attitude on the set. From spot boys to his co-stars, he behaves politely with everyone. I have learnt one thing from Ranbir: Give respect, take respect." Opening up about her journey and the impact Ranbir had on her, the actress added, 'I have worked in television for many years. I have witnessed many actors showing their arrogant nature on the set. I have suffered a lot. I have seen heroes and heroines coming late on the show while I would sit and wait for them. Ranbir Kapoor respects his work a lot. I learned from him that if you respect your work, people will respect you." The teaser for Ramayana: Part 1 was recently unveiled and has left fans in awe. Featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana, the film is directed by Dangal and Chhichhore helmer Nitesh Tiwari. Produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with Yash's Monster Mind Creations, the epic is being touted as one of the biggest Indian films to date. Ramayana: Ranbir Kapoor, Yash starrer mega film's budget soars to Rs 1600 crore, becomes costliest Indian franchise

Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, is among the most-awaited movies in Indian cinema. The makers recently dropped their official announcement video, including a few snippets from the movie. The first official glimpse took the internet by storm, and fans are stunned to see its magnificent scale. According to the reports of Bollywood Hungama, Ramayana 's total production cost is Rs 1600 crore, with Rs 900 crore invested only in the first part. The remaining Rs 700 crore is allotted for the second installment. This huge investment made Ramayana the costliest franchise in Indian cinema. A source close to the development revealed, 'The reason for the reduction in budget for part two is a result of a large investment in asset and world creation for part one, leaving just the action sequences for the second installment. The characters built and designed alongside the set pieces will continue to be a part of the second installment.' For the unversed, Ramayana is produced by Namit Malhotra of DNEG and Prime Focus Studios, in association with Yash's Monster Mind Creations. The makers are not splitting the cost between Part One and Part Two but are seeing it as an investment of Rs 1600 crore. The team is leaving no stone unturned to leave an impact on the global map with this two-part epic drama. Ramayana Full Cast and Crew and Release Date As Pinkvilla earlier reported, Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman have been onboarded to compose its background score and music. The makers are also in talks with a leading Hollywood studio to come on board for its distribution in the global key markets. The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Mata Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Yash as Ravan, Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Adinath Kothare as Bharath, Arun Govil as King Dasharath, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara, Rakul Preet as Shurpanakha, Vivek Oberoi as Vidyutjiva, Kunal Kapoor as Indra Dev and others. The first part of Ramayana is slated to release on Diwali 2026, while the second installment will hit the big screens on Diwali 2027. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
