Colorado pass rusher Taje McCoy transferring to Oklahoma State
Colorado will meet a familiar face next season with edge rusher Taje McCoy expected to transfer to Big 12 Conference foe Oklahoma State, according to Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports.
In his first year of full-time action, McCoy racked up 23 tackles and four sacks last season. The 6-foot-3 pass rusher introduced himself to Buffaloes' fans in week five, where he recorded two sacks in Colorado's blowout win over UCF.
The Oklahoma native anchored the Buffaloes special teams appearing in all 13 games and playing the ninth most snaps of any special team player. His efforts earned him a Second Team Special Teams selection from College Football News. McCoy was also an All-Big 12 Coaches Honorable Mention Defensive Newcomer of the Year.
McCoy was a part of a Buffaloes' defensive line which led the Big 12 in sacks with 39. Coming out of high school, McCoy was a 3-star rated prospect by 247 Sports and will return to his home state as a Cowboy.
The loss is another hit to a Buffaloes' defensive line already losing their top sack producer BJ Green to the NFL, but Colorado still has plenty of talented pieces that can fill the void left by Green, McCoy and others.
Senior defensive end Arden Walker is expected to take another leap after his breakout season in 2024. Walker totaled 4.5 sacks with 33 total tackles and was Colorado's second-highest-rated edge player by Pro Football Focus.
In addition to Walker, Keaton Wade and Samuel Okunlola will need to step into larger roles next season if the Buffaloes want to maintain their dominant pass rush from last season. Okunlola was in a starting role for most of last season but only totaled three sacks and eight quarterback hurries.
The pass rush depth will be on full display at Colorado's spring game, which kicks off Saturday at 2:00 p.m. MT and will air live on ESPN2.

Steelers' Broderick Jones isn't ready for LT yet: 'I think I need a couple more weeks'

Broderick Jones needs a few more weeks until he's ready to start at LT — and he'll be the first to admit it. After practice at mandatory minicamp, Jones was asked by reporters to share how the offseason practices have been going — and here was his response (courtesy of Steelers Live): "I think it went as good as it could go," Jones said. "You know, with everything going on — with me moving back to [LT] from [RT]. I still got a couple more weeks to hone in on my skills and continue to develop on the left side — and come in ready for [training camp]." A few questions later, Jones was asked if he'd be ready to start games at LT tomorrow — and he was brutally honest about his current abilities: "If I'm being honest, I think I probably do need a couple more weeks," Jones said. "Not saying I'd be bad, but just for me. Just to feel like I'm in the mindset to play an actual game — versus somebody else other than going against Alex Highsmith or Nick [Herbig]." The Steelers are hopeful that switching Jones back to his natural position at left tackle will help get the 2023 first-rounder back on track — as he gave up the second-most sacks in the NFL last season from right tackle. Ex-Steelers CB on T.J. Watt drama: 'He's not even the highest paid player on this team'

Ex-Steelers CB on T.J. Watt drama: 'He's not even the highest paid player on this team' T.J. Watt's contract drama has taken over headlines — and CBS Sports has weighed in. Ex-Steelers CB turned CBS Sports analyst Bryant McFadden supported Watt on the issue, arguing that DK Metcalf's $33 million per season could play a role: '[Watt is] not even the highest paid player on this team,' McFadden said via CBS Sports HQ. 'An outsider is the highest paid player on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and what I mean when I say outsider — a player that played with another organization. T.J. Watt is a homegrown player. They drafted him — he's developed to be one of the best playmakers in the National Football League on the defensive side.' McFadden continued by highlighting how Metcalf's contract, as well as Watt's competition with Myles Garrett, is playing a huge role in the extension holdup. Agreeing with CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, McFadden concluded that if Watt doesn't get a new deal soon, he will 'hold-in' for training camp.
