Meghan Markle 'viewed as irrelevant' by royals amid explosive new swipe at Firm
Meghan Markle appeared to deliver a veiled dig at the Royal Family in a new podcast interview - and one royal expert has revealed how she believes the Firm would have reacted
Meghan Markle has embarked on a publicity blitz as the second drop of her eagerly-awaited As Ever products were made available to fans. But it wasn't exactly the new products that raised eyebrows - it was her apparent subtle dig at the Royal Family in a bombshell new podcast interview.
It came when the Duchess of Sussex was quizzed on her public image in an appearance on the Aspire by Emma Grede podcast, where she also discussed setting up her own As Ever lifestyle brand, as well as what drives her career goals. Emma asked Meghan: "If you could rewrite your public narrative from scratch, is there anything that you would do differently?"
To which Meghan telling said: "Yes, I would ask people to tell the truth." The duchess gave no specifics about to whom she was referring but later talks to a 'lie' told eight years ago.
Eight years ago, in 2017, former actress Meghan was dating and became engaged to the now-Duke of Sussex, and began preparing for life as a member of the royal family. Her comment about telling the truth came after Meghan had previously accused the palace of "perpetuating falsehoods" about her during her time as a working royal.
But despite the seeming dig, royal expert Jennie Bond tells the Mirror that the comment will not have bothered her in-laws that much. The former BBC royal correspondent said: "I imagine they may see a passing headline about Meghan's latest exploits, but I very much doubt that any of them take much notice about what she is doing or saying.
"She is someone they knew for a very brief period of time. I don't think Meghan forged a meaningful relationship with any of the royal family – except, obviously, her husband. And so I think she is viewed as irrelevant by most of the family."
In the past few days, Meghan has released her second string of items for sale on the As Ever website, including new items, as well as her signature jam and flower sprinkles.
It comes as she has also ramped up her social media presence on Instagram, posting ever more personal snippets of her life and children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
And Jennie added: "She is now clearly carving out her own path as an influencer and would-be entrepreneur. To be successful in these fields she needs publicity. That's the name of the game. And so she is pumping out as much content as possible.
"It's all about clicks and followers - which, in turn, bring money. I don't think there's even the remotest possibility that she would either want to return to life as a working royal or that she would be welcomed back. She's making her own way in life, and that's absolutely fine - good for her.
"But personally I now find it laughable even to consider her as 'royal'. Hers was but a brief flirtation with a world she knew nothing about and which she very quickly decided she didn't like. I hope she's hugely successful in her new ventures. She's working hard, she deserves to do well."

Archie & Lilibet ‘will have NO royal roles' under Prince William's reign – and Andrew will be cast out, suggest insiders
PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle's children will have no roles when William becomes king, claimed insiders. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly expressed a desire to keep HRH titles for Archie, five, and Lilibet, three. 6 6 6 However, sources close to the Prince of Wales suggested it would be unlikely the youngsters would ever be welcomed in as working royals under his reign. As reported by The Times, Wills has now become indifferent to the bitter feud with his estranged brother. An insider claimed: 'What has struck me the most recently is that he just doesn't mention it at all. It used to be that the family stuff was taking up a lot of space in his head, it was a very close relationship and he was very upset. "But he's not letting it get to him at all any more. It is a change. It's sad, but it's a much healthier space for him to be at.' The same source also suggested there would be no route of return for the disgraced Duke of York. Prince Andrew, 65, was stripped of his titles and roles by the late Queen Elizabeth in 2022 due to the allegations and links to the late Epstein. Virginia Giuffre accused the Prince of sexual abuse on three occasions, including when she was just 17. Royal outcast Andrew has always vehemently denied the accusations, although he later paid her a reputed £12million settlement. And insiders claimed William views his uncle as too much of a "risk" and "threat" to the Firm. King Charles has also been attempting to evict his younger brother from his 31-room Royal Lodge, despite their 75-year lease agreement. Meghan's kids will be SO angry when they grow up & realise how they were used by her He removed Andrew's annual cash handout and refused to pay for his private security. The revelations come after Prince William last year vowed to be "royal with a small r" when he ascends the throne. The future King, 43, said he wanted to continue helping people while carrying out his duties 'differently for my generation'. In one of his most open and candid interviews, he claimed there was a shortage of 'empathetic leaders' around the world. 6 6 6 The Prince of Wales also said wife Kate was focused on work with a positive impact. It came after he described 2024 as ' probably the worst year of my life ' as he dealt with the cancer struggles of his wife as well as father King Charles. The heir to the throne, who also set up a Homewards programme to end homelessness, said: 'I can only describe what I'm trying to do, and that's I'm trying to do it differently and I'm trying to do it for my generation. 'And to give you more of an understanding around it, I'm doing it with maybe a smaller 'r' in the royal, if you like. That's maybe a better way of saying it. 'So it's more about impact philanthropy, collaboration, convening and helping people. 'And I'm also going to throw empathy in there as well, because I really care about what I do. It helps impact people's lives. And I think we could do with some more empathetic leadership around the world. 'So that's what I'm trying to bring. That's what Catherine is trying to bring as well. 'And I sit here right now doing Earthshot and doing all the projects I'm doing, like Homewards as well. And who knows what's going to come next, but it all centres around those values of trying to help deliver change and make those lives better." Meanwhile, over in Montecito, California, Meghan and Harry continue to navigate their careers since stepping down as working royals in 2020. Meg has now has added Rosé wine to her range of As ever products - which is her first alcoholic beverage. The 2023 pink booze from Napa Valley, California, will be sold via her As ever website from July 1. It has been announced alongside two new spreads now available including a Limited-Edition Orange Blossom Honey for $28 (£20). And she has also restocked six of the original products including $15 flower sprinkles. But there is no new raspberry spread available after the Duchess admitted she may never restock the infamous jam spread. The mum-of-two has also been more open with posting her children this year, amid her new business ventures. She shared rare family videos in a sweet tribute to Harry on Father's Day. Footage showed Harry running and playing with his kids with several clips showing the three sharing warm embraces. Although, Royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Sun that despite the videos being "charming", sharing them on social media is "hypocritical" of the couple who claimed to want privacy. She added: "I think their whole lives online is a publicity stunt. Everything that they do online is aimed at them being able to make more money." The Duchess also recently came under fire after making an apparent dig at the Royal Family on a podcast this week. Meghan opened with entrepreneur and CEO Emma Grede on her show Aspire. The mum-of-two was asked by her host: "If you could rewrite your public narrative from scratch, is there anything you would do differently?" Meghan replied: "Yes. I would ask people to tell the truth." Grede came back: "You're very measured about it, I would just get so angry if I felt like everyone was lying about me all the time." "Peaks and valleys," said the Duchess. "Of course, I've gone through those chapters and you do a lot of work, you do a lot of self work and go, 'What's the why?' It's happening for a reason." The mum-of-two also said her "dear friend" Serena Williams told her "a lie can't live for ever". "Eight years is a long time, but not for ever," she added. Royal author and broadcaster Hugo Vickers and news commentator Samara Gill also spoke to The Sun's royal editor Matt Wilkinson about Meghan's comments. On Royal Exclusive, Matt noted how he was stunned at Meghan's latest podcast interview where she asked people to "tell the truth about her". Samara said: "The fact is she is a constant liar and her whole brand is built on a spin of lies." "I don't trust a word that woman says. I think it is very, very low for her to insinuate that we should listen to her truth or that the royal family should tell the truth. "The lack of authenticity in that interview is palpable." Meghan Markle's ventures after stepping down as a working royal THE Duchess of Sussex has kept busy since stepping down as a senior working royal in 2020 and relocating to California. Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's relationship timeline as couple 'on the rocks'
A new source has claimed the couple are "on the rocks" after Katy Perry allegedly pulls out of attending Jeff Bezos' wedding with Orlando Bloom next week amid break up talks Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have shared plenty of ups and downs, but their relationship has seemingly blossomed over the years. However, a source recently claimed the couple are "on the rocks" with break-up talks in full swing. The couple, who welcomed daughter Daisy Dove in 2020, were due to attend Jeff Bezos' wedding in Venice next week. But sources have since claimed the actor will attend alone, with Katy, 40, recently spotted without her ruby engagement ring. The couple, who got engaged in 2019, are yet to tie the knot after initially cancelling wedding plans in December 2019. Here, we take a look at the full timeline of their on-off relationship. January 2016: Sparks fly at a Golden Globes afterparty Their love story began at a party following the 2016 Golden Globes. According to Us Weekly, the pair were seen getting close, with a source revealing they were "extremely flirty and whispering to each other." Photos showed the pair laughing, smiling, and clearly enjoying each other's company. "He would lean in to whisper into her ear and touch the small of her back as they chatted," the source said. They reportedly left the event together. May 2016: Making it Instagram official A few months later, Katy confirmed the romance with a playful Instagram post of the couple in matching robes on the steps of a building in Cannes, France. February 2017: Breakup After nearly a year of dating, the couple parted ways. Their representatives issued a joint statement saying, "Before rumours or falsifications get out of hand we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time." Sources claimed it was Katy who initiated the breakup but insisted it was amicable. "Katy pulled the plug... they both still love each other very much," a source told E! News , adding that their bond was still strong, particularly for the sake of Orlando's son, Flynn. "Katy has built a really strong connection with Flynn," the insider said. March 2017: Shutting down drama Katy quickly shut down any suggestion of drama post-split, tweeting, "HOW BOUT A NEW WAY OF THINKING FOR 2017!? U can still b friends & love ur former partners! No one's a victim or a villain, get a life y'all!" April 2017: Orlando confirms they are still friends In an interview, Orlando echoed the sentiment, saying, "We're friends, it's good... It's better to set an example for kids and show that [breakups] don't have to be about hate." August 2017: Spotted together again Rumours of a rekindled romance surfaced when fans saw the pair attending an Adele concert together. May 2018: Katy reveals she's off the market again During the American Idol season finale, Katy told Bachelorette star Becca Kufrin, "I'm not single but I still like you," confirming her rekindled relationship with Orlando. September 2018: Red carpet debut The couple made things official in public by appearing together on the red carpet at the Gala for the Global Ocean in Monaco. February 2019: The proposal The actor proposed the day after Valentine's Day with a show-stopping 4.5-carat ruby and diamond ring reportedly worth $5million. Katy announced their engagement with an Instagram post showing off the stunning ring. "Orlando had planned this for a while," a source told People, adding that he asked for Katy's parents' blessing before proposing. "Katy was very surprised and shaking with happiness... They both want kids together and will prioritise this." Speaking on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, Katy recalled, "I get there and, I mean, he's like clean-shaven. He's not wearing tennis shoes. I'm like, 'Ah s***, something is going down!'" She described how after dinner, he whisked her away on a helicopter, proposed mid-air, and landed at a party filled with her friends, family, and "the most flowers you've ever seen". March 2019: Moving in together By March, the couple had taken another big step - moving in together. A source revealed that Orlando was selling his home to live with Katy. The arrangement was drama-free, with Orlando's ex-wife Miranda Kerr reportedly supportive: "Miranda doesn't have an issue with Flynn being at Katy's house when Orlando has custody. Everyone is getting along great." At the time, wedding planning was underway but still without a firm date. "They are trying to find a middle ground," a source explained. "Orlando always shied away from anything flashy. He doesn't want a huge, celebrity wedding... Katy will work with a planner." December 2019: Wedding postponed US Weekly had claimed the couple were planning a December wedding, but a source told the outlet they had postponed it. "They changed the timing due to the location they want," they said at the time. E! also spoke to a source about why Perry and Bloom are postponing their wedding to 2020. "They wanted to get married quickly but scheduling and pulling everything together has proven to be difficult," the source said. "The wedding was supposed to be in September, then December and now early next year. They have had to move things around because Katy has grand ideas of where and how she wants things to be." March 2020: They announce pregnancy In addition to cradling her pregnant stomach in her music video for "Never Worn White", Katy wrote on Instagram "Let's just say it's gonna be a jam packed summer..." She also said she was "excited" and "happy" on her Instagram story, writing: "It's probably the longest secret I've ever had to keep. I thought I would tell you guys in the best way through a piece of music." August 2020: Couple welcome first baby together On August 27, UNICEF announced the birth of Daisy Dove Bloom on Instagram. Both Katy and Orlando are Goodwill Ambassadors for the charitable organisation. "We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter," said the couple in a statement. February 2022: Katy reveals wedding plans are still in full swing In an interview, Katy claimed the delay was down to the pandemic. "It's a destination location that like, you know, we're still trying for it to work out, but every couple of months it's like, 'New variant! New variant! New variant!'" she said. February 2023: Orlando calls relationship 'challenging' Speaking to Flaunt magazine, Orlando explained how being in different creative industries has affected his relationship with Perry. "We're in two very different pools," he said. "Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands. Sometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I won't lie. We definitely battle with our emotions and creativity." September 2024: Katy reveals reason for first break up During her Call Her Daddy interview, Katy spoke about why the couple took a break in 2017. "We weren't really in it from day one," she said. "He was because he had just done a huge time of celibacy, and he had set intentions. I was fresh out of a relationship, and I was like, I can't do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond, but I had to do a lot real work." She also revealed the couple had undergone couples therapy, explaining they "want to evolve" for their daughter's sake. June 2025: Break up rumours After Katy was seen without her engagement ring, break up rumours flew. A friend of the pair has told MailOnline: "Unfortunately they are on the rocks... I'm afraid it does not look promising." An insider told the New York Post: "It's over. They're just waiting until the tour is done before they split." It's now thought Orlando will attend Jeff Bezos' wedding next week alone, despite Katy also being invited.
