GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan urges officials to ensure smooth conduct of Ganesh fete
He chaired a preparatory convergence meeting at the GHMC Head Office with senior officials from various departments and BGUS members to review arrangements for the festival, scheduled to begin on August 27, 2025, and conclude with idol immersion on September 6, 2025.
Karnan said that, like in previous years, GHMC, police, and other agencies will work in close coordination to make the celebrations a grand success. He added that repair works are already underway on roads damaged due to heavy rains, and any pending works on national highways used for idol processions will also be completed in time.
He assured that more cranes will be deployed at immersion points. There will be no budgetary constraints, with more funds allocated compared to last year for logistics and arrangements.

HYDERABAD: Secunderabad Zonal Commissioner N Ravi Kiran on Wednesday directed that all procession routes for the Ganesh Festival be cleared of potholes and that tree branches be pruned. In a review meeting, he also instructed the electrical department to set up temporary lighting on all approach roads and near temporary ponds. The sanitation plan will |include supervision of Ganesh Action Teams (GATs) and ensuring cleanliness at ponds. It will provide mobile toilets with cleaning agencies, along with banners displaying contact details. Further, waste drums and workers will be stationed at prasadam and drinking water points, and extra Ramky vehicles will operate around the clock for clearance at transfer stations. For Ganesh pandals, Ravi Kiran recommended providing organisers' contact numbers to the police, coordinating waste storage arrangements with GHMC vehicles, installing CCTV cameras, keeping small fire extinguishers readily available, ensuring devotees dispose of food and water packets in bins, and avoiding the use of materials that make it difficult to clean.

GHMC to organise stray puppy adoption drive in Hyderabad on August 17
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is organising an Indie Dog Puppy Adoption Drive to encourage citizens to adopt stray puppies and give them a home. The adoption drive will be held from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Jalagam Vengal Rao Park, Road No. 1, Banjara Hills, on August 17. As part of this initiative, healthy, vaccinated, and de-wormed puppies of Indian dogs will be available for adoption free of cost, a statement from GHMC informed. Indie dogs are known for being playful, loyal, and low-maintenance, making them perfect companions for families and individuals, the statement said. By adopting, residents will not only help reduce the street dog population but also provide a safe and loving environment for these animals, it said.

Mumbai: With the much-anticipated Ganesh festival approaching, Adani Electricity on Tuesday said it is collaborating with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Disaster Management Department to conduct essential electrical safety training for Ganesh Mandal volunteers across Mumbai. The joint effort aims to significantly improve emergency preparedness and reduce potential electrical hazards during the upcoming festivities. In a collaborative effort, Adani Electricity's safety officers and the BMC Disaster Management Department are participating in a series of "First Responder Training Programmes" for Ganesh Mandal volunteers throughout Mumbai.
