Days before releasing the music video, Roan announced a limited concert run for the fall in New York, Kansas City and Los AngelesChappell Roan's latest release is about a missed connection.
The Grammy-winning artist shared her new single "The Subway," on Friday, Aug. 1, after performing the ballad live for almost a year.
Roan, 27, also shared a melodramatic music video, where the "Pink Pony Club" hitmaker is convinced she sees a girl she recognizes, chases after her and loses her when she boards the subway.
Instead, she spends the music video wandering through New York, forlorn about the girl who got away.
Her Rapunzel-length hair get caught in taxi-cab doors and is riddled with rats and trash while riding a bike.

She romanticizes the mundane act of riding the public transit in "The Subway" with bright costumes and dancers throughout the cars.
"'Til I don't look for you on the staircase / Or wish you thought that we were still soulmates / But I'm still counting down all of the days / 'Til you're just another girl on the subway," she sings.
Perhaps the most heart-wrenching lyric in the song is when she changes her tune from "the girl who's got a way" to "the girl who got away."

"The cliche of 'the girl that got away' barely scratches the surface for me with this song," Roan said in a press release. "I wrote it as I was stumbling around New York with a broken heart and I kept envisioning us on every street, fire escape, coffee shop, park and yes… the subway."
"The Subway" music video also features a cameo of the Instagram-famous Green Lady as the pair takes a swim in the Washington Square Park fountain.
Fans were moved by Roan's music video for the ballad. "me listening to the subway by chappell roan right now btw this is me incase you were curious about me listening to the subway by chappell roan," one person said, sharing a gif of Sadie Sink crying.
Another wrote, "bitches will wake up and listen to the subway by chappell roan first thing in the morning like did you even try to have a good day today?"

On July 24, Roan announced the Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things pop-up shows in New York, Kansas City and Los Angeles.
"I am sooo excited to bring Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things to New York, Kansas City, and Los Angeles!!! I love these three cities so much and wanted the chance to do something special for them this year," she said in a statement.
"Since I started performing, I have always wanted my shows to be a party that everyone is invited to, and the only way to do that is to keep ticket prices affordable and away from scalpers," Roan continued.
She added: "The Fair AXS ticketing process for these shows is one measure we are taking to ensure tickets end up in the hands of fans who actually want to be there."
With the ticket sales, Roan is donating $1 per ticket to "organizations that provide resources and support for trans youth."

LONDON (AP) — Oasis said Sunday that its members are 'shocked and saddened' after a man fell to his death during a concert by the band at London's Wembley Stadium. A man has died after falling at Wembley Stadium during an Oasis concert on Saturday night, the Metropolitan Police has said. The force said officers on duty at the stadium responded, alongside venue medics and the London Ambulance Service, to reports a person had been injured at around 10.20pm. A man - aged in his 40s - was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene." The highest stands in the 90,000-seat venue are some 170ft above the ground. A spokesperson for Wembley Stadium said: 'Last night, Wembley Stadium medics, the London Ambulance Service and the police attended to a concert-goer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall. 'Despite their efforts, the fan very sadly died. 'Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers. "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" holds its lead atop the box office
Film Review - The Fantastic Four: First Steps LOS ANGELES (AP) — Marvel's first family stumbled in theaters in its second weekend, but still held on to the top spot at the box office. 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' earned $40 million from 4,125 North American theaters, a 66% drop from a healthy $117.6 million debut. The film was accompanied by comedies 'The Bad Guys 2' and 'The Naked Gun" in the top three box office rankings. The superhero movie dipped significantly more than Marvel's previous film, 'Thunderbolts,' which took a 55% dive in its second weekend. 'First Steps' is the last major blockbuster of the summer. It added nearly $40 million internationally in its second weekend, bringing thefilm's global total to $369 million. The movie's box office drop off was surprising given its strong reviews, said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for the data firm Comscore. Though the movie's debut weekend may have given box office results a strong push toward the $4 billion summer benchmark, August is off to a slow start, he said. 'It's a tough lift, but we might be able to get there. It really means that all the films are gonna have to stand on their own,' Dergarabedian said. 'It's gonna be about getting great reviews, having that staying power, that longevity in the marketplace.'
