Pakistani national arrested for DUI after Johor restaurant crash
The incident occurred yesterday evening, causing damage to parked motorcycles and another vehicle before the suspect fled.
Johor Bahru Selatan police chief ACP Raub Selamat confirmed that the man was driving a Perodua Kelisa when the accident happened. Traffic police later tracked him down along the Pasir Gudang Highway heading towards Perling.
'He crossed the road, climbed a fence and jumped off a two-metre wall, but was detained shortly after, injured and in a weakened state,' Raub said. The suspect initially ignored police orders before eventually stopping near kilometre 8.
The man was taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for treatment, and a blood sample was collected for further investigation. Authorities are probing the case under Section 186 of the Penal Code, Section 6(1)(C) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, and Sections 44(1) and 26(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - Bernama

Zayn Rayyan's mother ordered to enter defence, father acquitted

PETALING JAYA: The sessions court here has ordered the mother of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin to enter her defence on a charge of neglecting her six-year-old autistic son, while acquitting the boy's father of the same offence. Judge Syahliza Warnoh ruled that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Ismanira Abdul Manaf, but failed to prove the necessary elements to require her husband, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari, to enter his defence. Advertisement Both Ismanira and Zaim are 30 years old. Ismanira was given three options: to testify under oath from the witness stand, to give an unsworn statement, or to remain silent. She informed the court that she would testify under oath from the witness stand. Foreign student charged with stabbing ex-girlfriend in neck
SHAH ALAM: A foreign student from a private university was charged in the Sessions Court today with causing grievous hurt to his ex-girlfriend by stabbing her in the neck with a knife last week. You Wei, 22, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him before Judge Norazlin Othman. He is accused of committing the offence against 20-year-old Wu Jalin using a dangerous weapon, which could have caused her death, at the university in Bandar Sunway at 6.30pm on July 14. The charge, under Section 326 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum jail term of 20 years, and a fine or whipping upon conviction. Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Sofea Jaysal did not offer bail. "We are concerned that the accused may flee the country despite having a valid passport, which expires on Oct 31 next year," she said. Lawyer Revin Kumar said his client is a third-year student at the university and is expected to complete his studies within a year. "He has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is currently receiving treatment at a private clinic. "He was arrested on July 14 and has been remanded for seven days." "He has been residing in Malaysia since September 2023 and pledges to remain here to answer the charge. "I ask that he be allowed bail with additional conditions such as to surrender his passport to the court and report to the police station," he said. Norazlin granted You bail of RM20,000 with two sureties. She was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for treatment. As of last week, Subang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat had said that the victim was stable but unable to give her statement yet. The police, nevertheless, have recorded statements from 12 people as part of investigations.
