Motorcyclist, 20, injured in collision with SUV
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 21-year-old woman was hospitalized after crashing her motorcycle into an SUV in the Valencia Park neighborhood on Friday, authorities said.
The crash happened around 3 p.m. as the motorcyclist was exiting a driveway on the 300 block of 54th Street, according to the San Diego Police Department. She was riding a Yamaha YZF-R3 and attempted to make a left turn onto southbound 54th Street.

Police say the rider failed to properly navigate the turn and struck the rear left corner of a Chevy Trailblazer that was stopped in traffic at a red light near Imperial Avenue. The SUV was driven by a 41-year-old man who was not injured in the crash.
Emergency responders transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital for treatment of a fractured femur. Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
SDPD's Traffic Division is handling the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

Rain showers, high surf, rip current risk forecast for San Diego
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego residents can expect some rain showers this weekend along with high surf and a strong rip current risk. Moisture from the tropics is bringing showers to San Diego County this weekend, the National Weather Service reports. Most of the rain is expected to evaporate in the atmosphere on its way to the surface, so just light rain and sprinkles are forecast to fall on the region Saturday into Sunday morning, however there have been some isolated reports of thunderstorms, along with a special weather statement that was in effect for Chula Vista Saturday afternoon calling for hail and strong winds. NWS has also issued beach hazard statements for San Diego County and Orange County coastal areas to expect elevated surf of 4 to 6 feet, with sets up to 7 to 8 feet, and a strong rip current risk from Sunday morning through Tuesday afternoon. The surf is expected to increase Sunday, peaking Monday, before falling off late Tuesday.
