Angellica Bell's VERY barbed comment to Martin Lewis after ‘secret sacking' & sad reason hubby Michael Underwood quit TV
THERE'S no denying Angellica Bell is made of strong stuff – after all, you have to be pretty resilient to survive 25 years in the often-brutal TV business.
But she's not afraid to reveal her more vulnerable side either, as anyone who watched her on the recent series of Celebrity Big Brother can attest.

The TV presenter and mum of two – who never names her children to protect their privacy – broke down in the Diary Room as she spoke about her 'secret sacking' from The Martin Lewis Money Show in 2023.
Producers claimed an appearance by Angellica on Channel 5's The Gadget Show, which was rebranded as Shop Smart, Save Money, represented a conflict of interest.
She was told just a few days before filming was due to begin on Martin Lewis' show that she was no longer required.
Opening up for the first time about that period, she says: 'I think I was hurt because it wasn't my fault. You work with people, you go through so much and build up bonds, and when that's gone, with no card, no thanks, it's really hard.
'I'm a nobody in this business – I'm at the bottom of the food chain, so when it changed, it changed a lot for me, not just emotionally, but financially, too. When you love something – you love the show, the audience and the people who work on it – and then it's gone. . . I was sad.'
Despite it clearly knocking her confidence, Angellica, 49, is pragmatic about the situation and holds no grudges.
'Things happen, things change. I respect the decision, but I think the way it was handled. . . People need to take care of people's feelings,' she says.
'I always try to treat people how I want to be treated. Sometimes, I put other people's feelings above mine.
'But not everyone works the same way. It is what it is.'
Doing CBB seemed the perfect way for Angellica to move on and show audiences what she's really like.
New CBB feud as housemate takes savage swipe at Chris Hughes and says he knows how to 'influence people'
'I've never been offered a reality show before,' she explains. 'When I was approached by Celebrity Big Brother, I was like: 'Why would anyone want me in there?' I would never class myself as a celebrity. I'm just Angellica. But I am a Big Brother fan and I've watched the shows over the years.
'There was a fear of the unknown, because I haven't been seen in that light before, and the last couple of years have been a bit tricky.
'I wanted to find and reconnect with myself, and I thought: 'Maybe this is the time that I need to just be me.' I've done a lot of growing up in this business and I thought this would be a chance to have fun and to relinquish control.
'I'm so chuffed I did it, I had the best time. I lasted longer than I thought I would, and I made some connections with people I never expected.'
One of the biggest talking points of the series – which also featured Patsy Palmer, Chesney Hawkes and eventual winner Jack P Shepherd – was Love Island's Chris Hughes' friendship with Dance Moms star JoJo Siwa.
Does Angellica think it could go beyond being platonic?
'They have the same sense of humour. They like to mess around and have fun. What she said on This Morning about them being soulmates is exactly what she said to me,' she explains.
'They were a source of support for each other. JoJo is open to everything, and she's young and the world is her oyster, so let's see what the future holds. It seemed genuine to me.
'I had a daily dance lesson with JoJo, she taught me to jive! She'd get up and go: 'Babe, you ready? Let's do this.' I had a great time with them both.'
Of course, the Big Brother house is never short on drama, and Angellica found herself at the centre of it when comedian Donna Preston nominated her for being too 'loud'. Angellica promptly retaliated by banging a pan in the bedroom to wake the housemates, much to Donna's annoyance.

'I was just having a laugh,' she says. 'I thought because she's into comedy, she'd think it's funny. Maybe I read that wrong!
'JoJo got the pan for me, Chris was saying: 'You've got to do it'. Even Chesney was encouraging me, so we just thought it would be fun. But bless Donna, she made it clear she was not happy.'
The other big drama of the series was Mickey Rourke, who was removed for 'unacceptable behaviour' and 'inappropriate language', after run-ins with Chris, and making a 'sexual remark' to TOWIE's Ella Rae Wise. But Angellica says she got on well with the Hollywood star.
'Mickey was very nice to me, he even gave me one of his jumpers,' she says. 'He would talk to me and open up. [When he was un-PC or wouldn't get involved in the tasks], I would say: 'Dude, that's not cool. You can't do that.'
'I don't know whether that's because he didn't see me as a threat or he wasn't interested in me. You don't want him to feel excluded, but at the same time you have to be respectful of other people's feelings. But it did feel lighter when he left, people relaxed.'
'I once skinny-dipped in Rylan's pool with Alan Carr!'
She says: 'There were people who felt uncomfortable and I think that, at the end of the day, there are rules of behaviour and we have to adhere to them. When you're with other people from different backgrounds, who have different moral codes and are comfortable with different things, you have to adapt. It was interesting to see who could adapt and who couldn't.'
There was much discussion this year over game plans – did she have a strategy?
'Jack P Shepherd knew loads about it from Colson [Smith, his Corrie co-star, who was runner-up last year]. I didn't have a plan, I just surrendered. And that's what I loved about it. Being in the Diary Room was really iconic for me.
'I've been to Rylan's house. He's a good friend and a proper Big Brother fan – he's got some of the chairs – but he didn't give me any advice. I once skinny-dipped in his pool with Alan Carr!'
Naked swimming with two comedy legends sounds like quite the story. . .
'I have a wild side,' she says. 'A lot of people know me from my job on TV, but in my day-to-day life, people say: 'You are so different.' I think there's nothing wrong with having many facets to your character.'
During her spell in the CBB house, Angellica was being supported on social media by her husband of nearly 15 years, former TV presenter Michael Underwood, 49.
Once the host of ITV's Let Me Entertain You, he quit the industry in 2020 after struggling to find work, and instead became a teacher.
WORK DRIED UP
At the time, Michael spoke about feeling like a 'failure' for not being able to make his career work or 'provide for his family.'
'There is a shift – a lot of women now are taking on those roles with their earnings,' says Angellica.
'And I know a lot of amazing men who are staying at home and looking after the family and doing a fantastic job. Sometimes men who do that don't get enough credit.
'At that time, I used to think: 'Gosh, I'm the worst wife he could have'. Not because there wasn't love, but because Michael really wanted to be a TV presenter while I sort of fell into it. I'm easy-come, easy-go. If my career goes tomorrow, I'll go and find work somewhere else. I'm a grafter.'
People didn't even realise Michael and I were still together until CBB.
Angellica continues: 'But for him, it was a goal, and when you really want something and it doesn't work, it can feel like your world is crumbling.
'I remember, we were nearly selling our house. I'll be honest, we were broke. That's not being a defeatist, that's real life. He said: 'No, we're not going to give up.'
'I was up for a job, and I remember them ringing me and saying: 'You didn't get it.' I cried on the phone, but the person they gave the job to was brilliant. They had another show, so I said: 'No, I get it. You need to build them up. I don't want them to fail. If I was a producer I'd do the same.'
'The BBC boss got off the phone to me and went to the commissioner at the BBC and said: 'You need to give Angellica a job,' because of the way I was about it. And the list for 2017's Celebrity MasterChef was on that person's desk. He remembered I used to bake cakes when I was on The One Show, so I did MasterChef and I won! That changed everything.
'Michael had a teaching degree, so he went back to that. It's weird, because some people didn't even think we were still together until CBB. He took a back seat while he carved out his new career, because he did feel like he had failed and he was embarrassed. But we've had so many amazing people support us behind the scenes.
'Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes were always there for us, just supportive little texts telling us to keep going. Then Chris Evans came to our little house after work when Black Lives Matter happened, and we were so moved by that.'

Angellica and Michael were a staple of children's TV
Could we see Michael make a return to TV, we wonder?
'His TikTok videos got a great reaction,' she says. 'It's been great for him to remember all the great stuff he's done, but he's like: 'Right I've done that, and now I'm back to teaching.'
'But I would love to see him do the jungle [I'm A Celebrity. . . Get Me Out Of Here!]. He'd be so good – he's got some fears, though, so I'd vote for him to be covered in spiders! Plus, he's interviewed all the big stars, so he's got such good stories.'
Starting off as a roving reporter on The Big Breakfast in the '90s, before moving into children's telly and CBBC, where she met her husband-to-be, Angellica has been a true trailblazer, forging a path for young black women in the entertainment industry. Did she ever struggle because of her race?
'When I was on CBBC, I didn't walk into the studio and think: 'I'm female, I'm black, I'm this, I'm that.' I just thought: 'I'm Angellica and I want you to love me for being me.'
'On CBBC, there were so many different people from different races and backgrounds. But then I was told to enjoy kids' TV – because they will never put a black person on prime time. I remember filming once and the producer said to me: 'Can you do that again, but be less urban?' she says.
'And I want to thank anyone who said anything negative or tried to push me down – because they gave me the drive to keep going.'

Katie Price gives update on Harvey's weight loss jabs after revealing he weighs almost 30st
KATIE Price has revealed son Harvey will "hopefully" start weight loss injections this week in an attempt to save his life. The former glamour model is worried about the disabled 22-year-old's health after his weight reached 30st. 5 Katie Price says her son Harvey might be starting weight loss injections Credit: PA 5 She said his weight has jumped to 30st Credit: Getty Katie, 47, gave her fans an update on Harvey's weight loss journey on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, which she hosts with her sister, Sophie. Revealing her plans for the weekend, she said Harvey will be joining her on Saturday when she performs at Portsmouth Pride. Katie then added: "Hopefully Harvey starts his Mounjaro this week, but we'll talk about that next week and I'll go through all of what's happening about that." The mum-of-five previously opened up on how Harvey's life was at risk because of his size. The TV personality's eldest child has Prader-Willi syndrome, which sparks a constant desire to eat food and a permanent feeling of hunger which leads to obesity. Harvey battles a series of debilitating conditions including autism, septo-optic dysplasia, ADHD and oppositional defiant disorder. In a video posted in April, Katie revealed: 'I'm so heartbroken and gutted that his weight is just going up. 'I just googled it in stones, 188kg is just a few kg of being 30 stone. 'It's so life-threatening now, I'm still waiting for the doctors to get back to me starting on the mounjaro and his journey to a healthy life.' She continued: 'It's so sad his quality of life at the moment where he's so big, he just can't really do much. Katie Price drops huge hint daughter Princess Andre is in talks for Love Island after boyfriend split 'It's just another thing I have to deal with because he's at high risk of having a heart attack, he struggles to put his trainers or struggles to walk anywhere but I love him and I'm going to help him through this. 'So sad, obesity and his condition is sad, it's sad to see someone go through it and he doesn't understand.' 5 Katie thinks the move could be life-saving Credit: PA Everything you need to know about fat jabs Weight loss jabs are all the rage as studies and patient stories reveal they help people shed flab at almost unbelievable rates, as well as appearing to reduce the risk of serious diseases. Wegovy – a modified version of type 2 diabetes drug Ozempic – and Mounjaro are the leading weight loss injections used in the UK. Wegovy, real name semaglutide, has been used on the NHS for years while Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a newer and more powerful addition to the market. Mounjaro accounts for most private prescriptions for weight loss and is set to join Wegovy as an NHS staple this year. How do they work? The jabs work by suppressing your appetite, making you eat less so your body burns fat for energy instead and you lose weight. They do this my mimicking a hormone called GLP-1, which signals to the brain when the stomach is full, so the drugs are officially called GLP-1 receptor agonists. They slow down digestion and increase insulin production, lowering blood sugar, which is why they were first developed to treat type 2 diabetes in which patients' sugar levels are too high. Can I get them? NHS prescriptions of weight loss drugs, mainly Wegovy and an older version called Saxenda (chemical name liraglutide), are controlled through specialist weight loss clinics. Typically a patient will have to have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, classifying them as medically obese, and also have a weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure. GPs generally do not prescribe the drugs for weight loss. Private prescribers offer the jabs, most commonly Mounjaro, to anyone who is obese (BMI of 30+) or overweight (BMI 25-30) with a weight-related health risk. Private pharmacies have been rapped for handing them out too easily and video calls or face-to-face appointments are now mandatory to check a patient is being truthful about their size and health. Are there any risks? Yes – side effects are common but most are relatively mild. Around half of people taking the drug experience gut issues, including sickness, bloating, acid reflux, constipation and diarrhoea. Dr Sarah Jarvis, GP and clinical consultant at said: 'One of the more uncommon side effects is severe acute pancreatitis, which is extremely painful and happens to one in 500 people.' Other uncommon side effects include altered taste, kidney problems, allergic reactions, gallbladder problems and hypoglycemia. Evidence has so far been inconclusive about whether the injections are damaging to patients' mental health. Figures obtained by The Sun show that, up to January 2025, 85 patient deaths in the UK were suspected to be linked to the medicines. In February Katie told The Sun she consulted top doctors who suggested starting Harvey on the jabs in a bid to improve his chances of living longer. Harvey's biological dad is former footballer Dwight, 53, dated for a short period between 2000 and 2001, but split shortly after Katie told him she was pregnant. 5 Katie worries about Harvey's long-term health if he stays obese Credit: Splash

‘Taking it too far' fume shoppers as they hit out at ‘Mrs Hinch mums' over Aldi toys – but not everyone agrees
Some people have defended the toys GREY MATTER 'Taking it too far' fume shoppers as they hit out at 'Mrs Hinch mums' over Aldi toys – but not everyone agrees Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) IT was the homeware trend that everyone seemed to fall in love with. Velvet sofas, 'Live laugh love' signs and grey EVERYWHERE - with many people citing cleaning guru Mrs Hinch as their home decor inspiration. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 An Aldi middle aisle buy has left shoppers divided Credit: Alamy 2 People have claimed the grey toys are 'utterly depressing' But shoppers have blasted the trend for going "too far" after spotting "super depressing" grey toys in Aldi. The 100-pack of ball pool balls is currently priced at £4.99 in the bargain supermarket, and is available in grey or pink. After seeing the middle aisle buy in her local store, one woman fumed: "Unless babies/toddlers are colour blind, I'm not sure why you'd make toys colourless? "Taking the grey aesthetic too far. Do toys clash with your living room scheme? Plain weird." Her post on the BARGAIN LOVERS - Poundland, Home Bargains, B&M, Primark, The Range & More Facebook group, which boasts 841,000 members, quickly racked up a flurry of comments. Many people appeared disappointed by the "utterly depressing" toys due to their lack of colour and hit out at parents for prioritising their interior aesthetic over colourful buys for the kids. One said: "My living room is black, white and grey, but all my girls toys are ALWAYS going to be colourful. It's not fair to deprive a baby of colours for your own aesthetic." "You buy toys for kids. I don't know many kids who'd prefer these boring balls", chimed in a second. A third fumed: "Very bland, like a lot of beige nurseries." A fourth claimed: "So many triggered beige baby mums. By the time they're old enough to be using a ball put properly they can see colour just fine, it's super depressing." Parents race to Lidl for middle aisle bargains including 2 in 1 sandpit for £29 "Yep, made totally to match decor not for child enrichment", added a fifth. Meanwhile a sixth echoed: "Agreed. Couldn't live in a grey and silver house. Find it utterly depressing." Other social media users, however, have defended the grey toys and insisted their colour doesn't ruin the fun. "Really not sure why it matters, kids will still play in amongst them no matter the colour", insisted one. A second wrote: "It's really not that deep, and a plastic ball is a plastic ball." A third suggested: "Too much colour can be overwhelming and overstimulating. Probably the same reason so many people choose the neutral tones to decorate also." Someone else admitted: "I'm not going to lie. I'm the parent that has bought this in the past because it goes with my living room. Not really ashamed of it either." "Maybe just me, but I'm sorry if it don't match my living room I ain't buying it", agreed a fifth. And a sixth echoed: "I got grey to match my house. Looked gorgeous in our home and it mattered to me that it looked nice because that's who I am. Let people do what they like without judgement maybe?"

Raging Scots DJ sparked pool hall brawl after someone mocked his haircut
He brushed off the comments until the unknown man mentioned his deceased father BAR CLASH RAP Raging Scots DJ sparked pool hall brawl after someone mocked his haircut Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A DJ sparked a pool hall brawl after someone made fun of his haircut. Brandon Ross, 23, struck the unknown man with a cue and punched him after raging at being on the end of 'playground banter' about his 'Prince Charming' hairstyle by the man and his friends. Ross's initial attack erupted in a greater fight which left him in hospital with injuries to his face and hand. First offender Ross pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the man at Glasgow city centre's Reardon's on August 12, 2024. The court heard that Ross was with friends while the unknown man and his acquaintances were at another pool table. Prosecutor Darren Harty stated that a 'disagreement' had taken place between both parties. He said: 'As a result, Ross struck the unknown man with a pool cue to the side of the body in the hip region. 'He thereafter punched him which collided with his face. 'A further much bigger fight then occurred as a result of that after which Ross was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.' Stephanie Grieve, defending, told the court that Ross was hit with two glasses in the melee. This resulted in a wound to his left ear and damage to tendons in his right hand. Woman loses battle with sisters to keep mum's £420k home for her 'therapy' dogs The lawyer added: 'My client's friends laughed about something the unknown man had said. 'A disagreement took place which resulted in playground insults which included about Mr Ross' Prince Charming hair and socks he was wearing which went on for 30 minutes. 'He brushed it off until there was a comment made about his deceased father. 'He works as a DJ and has had to reduce his work from six nights a week to two nights a week.' Sheriff David Clapham denied Miss Grieve her initial request for an absolute discharge which would have seen the offence scrubbed from Ross's criminal record. The sheriff said: 'When you heard the comments, you should have left. 'Hitting someone with a pool cue is quite wrong and it is also quite wrong that you followed this up with a punch.' Ross, of the city's Mount Vernon, was fined £320.
