ETA to support developing countries in transfer pricing, international taxation: Abdel Aal
Abdel Aal stated that, with the full backing and ongoing guidance of Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk for institutional development and international cooperation efforts, the Authority continues to consolidate its position as one of the region's leading tax administrations. She described this transition from beneficiary to technical partner as an unprecedented milestone in the Authority's history.
She stressed that this new role reflects the Authority's significant progress in the field of international taxation. She noted that the initiative is a joint project between the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), funded by the European Union.
Abdel Aal explained that Egypt will now offer technical assistance to developing countries aiming to enhance their expertise in transfer pricing and international taxation. This support will draw on the Authority's accumulated experience and the outcomes of previous cooperation under the initiative.
She added that, in recent years, the Authority has implemented four capacity-building programmes for tax inspectors through the initiative, supported by experts from the OECD, UNDP and several independent consultants. The current programme, she noted, is conducted in collaboration with His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in the United Kingdom and focuses on complex transfer pricing issues in sectors such as extractive industries, financial services, and telecommunications.
Abdel Aal emphasised that the initiative's support has played a key role in developing sustainable capabilities within the Authority. This includes training 37 inspectors in transfer pricing and international taxation, establishing a dedicated unit for transfer pricing and international tax, and achieving a notable rise in tax revenues through improved examination of multinational companies' pricing practices based on international standards. She also highlighted several reforms to tax policy and regulatory procedures introduced following recommendations by initiative experts.
She affirmed that joining the initiative as a partner is international recognition of the Egyptian Tax Authority's commitment to capacity building and global cooperation. 'We are proud of this historic achievement,' she said, 'and we look forward to sharing our expertise with tax administrations in developing countries within the framework of international cooperation led by the initiative. This reinforces Egypt's leading role in shaping tax policy and audit practices globally.'
For its part, the OECD confirmed that the ETA's participation as a partner demonstrates its commitment to knowledge sharing and building a more collaborative international tax environment.

Egyptian FM Abdelatty concludes West Africa tour in Senegal - Foreign Affairs
Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty headed on Thursday to Senegal, the fifth and final stop on his West African tour. Minister Abdelatty is scheduled to hold official talks with senior Senegalese officials and meet with representatives from both the government and the private sector, according to a foreign ministry statement. Discussions will focus on deepening bilateral cooperation in the economy, investment, and infrastructure, as well as exploring opportunities for Senegal to benefit from Egyptian expertise in training and capacity building. The visit will also address joint coordination on pressing regional issues, particularly security in the Sahel region and counter-terrorism efforts, the statement noted. Additionally, the ministers will discuss mechanisms to bolster joint African action within the framework of the African Union and other relevant regional organizations. The visit follows Abdelatty's stop in Mali, the fourth leg of his tour, which has also included Niger, Nigeria, and Burkina Faso. Egyptian foreign minister delivers Al-Sisi message to Mali's Goïta
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Mali's leader, Assimi Goïta, in Bamako on Thursday, delivering a written message from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi aimed at strengthening security and economic ties, the Egyptian foreign ministry said. In a statement, the ministry said Abdelatty conveyed Sisi's greetings and stressed that the visit reflected Egypt's commitment to providing technical, logistical, and institutional support to Mali to help it achieve security and stability, given the country's pivotal role in its region. The foreign minister highlighted the recent Egyptian-Malian Business Forum, noting that he was accompanied by a high-level delegation of 30 Egyptian business leaders from both public and private sectors. He said this reflected Egypt's interest in pushing economic, trade, and investment ties with Mali into 'broader horizons,' particularly in infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, construction, energy, and mining. The talks also covered security cooperation, with Abdelatty stressing Egypt's capacity-building efforts. He noted that more than 100 Malian officials had benefited from Egyptian training programmes this year, including a workshop in Bamako on post-conflict reconstruction organised by the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding. Abdelatty also pointed to the key role of Cairo's Al-Azhar in countering extremist ideology through its religious envoys in Mali. The two officials also discussed regional issues, including the situation in the Sahel and Sahara region. For his part, Mali's President Goïta asked Abdelatty to convey his greetings and appreciation to President Sisi, expressing his country's gratitude for Egypt's leading role in supporting the African continent and its firm support for stability and development in Mali, the statement said.
