Bayern eye Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku as Kingsley Coman replacement

By Ravi Kumar Jha Published on August 14, 2025, 19:02 IST
Bayern Munich are considering a move for Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku following Kingsley Coman's exit from the club, according to reports.
Nkunku, who joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig last summer, is seen as an ideal option to fill multiple attacking roles in Bayern's setup. His versatility, technical ability, and eye for goal make him a prime candidate to bolster the Bavarian side's attacking depth.
While Bayern's interest is strong, the move is not yet a done deal. Sources suggest the final decision will depend heavily on the transfer fee and financial terms, especially as Nkunku is expected to leave Chelsea in the current transfer window.
The French international has attracted significant attention across Europe this summer. Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and former club RB Leipzig have all expressed interest in securing his services, leaving the situation wide open. However, Bayern's need for a proven, adaptable forward following Coman's departure gives them an edge in the race.

Chelsea forward in talks over Bayern Munich transfer

Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku is in talks with Bayern Munich over a potential transfer to the club. Bayern are targeting a deal for Nkunku after agreeing the sale of Kingsley Coman to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr. The German champions have been frustrated in a pursuit of Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade and are now turning their attention to Nkunku. The Frenchman is viewed as a versatile option to boost the club's forward line, while his availability and prior experience of the Bundesliga appeal. Nkunku scored 70 goals in 172 games for RB Leipzig before his £52m move to Chelsea in 2023. He has struggled with fitness and favour issues at Stamford Bridge and is set to leave the club this summer. The forward scored 15 goals in 48 games last season but saw his minutes largely restricted to the Europa Conference League. Chelsea have since signed Joao Pedro and Liam Delap to boost their attacking options. Leipzig enquired about re-signing Nkunku, though the German side preferred a loan deal. Both Nkunku and Chelsea want to sanction a permanent exit and Fabrizio Romano is reporting that initial talks with Bayern have taken place. Bayern are desperate to add to their depleted attacking options. In addition to Coman's imminent exit, Thomas Muller, Mathys Tel and Leroy Sane have all left the Allianz Arena this summer. Jamal Musiala is also facing months out with a horror injury sustained during the Club World Cup. Read – See more – Follow The Football Faithful on Social Media: | | | |

RB Leipzig complete the signing of Romulo from Göztepe

RB Leipzig have announced that they have completed the signing of Brazilian striker Romulo from Turkish side Göztepe. The 23-year-old joins Leipzig for a reported fee of €25m and signs a contract at the club until 2030. Romulo will wear the number 40 next season. On joining Leipzig, Romulo said: 'The move to RB Leipzig is a big step in my career. The Bundesliga is one of the strongest and most exciting leagues in the world, and I want to prove myself here at the highest level. I know that Leipzig plays with high intensity, pace, and pressing – that's exactly what I'm good at. I want to score goals, provide assists, and do everything I can to help us achieve our goals as a team. At the same time, I'm looking forward to getting to know the city and the fans and becoming part of the RBL family.' Last season, the 23-year-old had a productive year with Göztepe. In a year they finished eighth in the league, Romulo scored a total of 17 goals and 10 assists in 33 games for the Izmir-based side. Romulo will replace Benjamin Seško, who left Leipzig earlier this month for Manchester United in a deal worth €85m. Whether the Brazilian will play alongside Xavi Simons is yet to be seen, but with the arrival of Romulo, Leipzig have become a far more interesting side this season. GGFN | Jack Meenan
