Brandon Valley blanks Roosevelt in Game of the Week
BRANDON, S.D. (KELO) — The Brandon Valley baseball team blanked Roosevelt Tuesday, claiming a 7-0 win to sweep the double header.
Ryland Carroll threw a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and striking out ten. He carried a no-hit bid 5.2 innings into the game.
The Lynx broke through with a Bryce Plucker two-RBI single in the second. Nolan Pudwill added a three run double in the same frame to build a 5-0 lead.
Brandon Valley added a run in both third and fourth to win 7-0.
The Lynx earned the double header sweep with a 3-2 win in the first game Tuesday.

Curling event that will prep you for the Olympic Trials
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —An event is happening this weekend for the curling community of Sioux Falls, that is helping build excitement ahead of an even bigger event. It was a busy morning getting ready for the Tolvstad came from the Aberdeen area to help out. 'We're getting to the stage where we're going to start pebble scraping our final deal. We got our first game at 130, so we'll take it right to the limit to get this prepared and trying to make the best level of ice for an arena,' Aberdeen Curling Club, Mark Tolvstad said. 'We have 16 teams from Sioux Falls. We have eight teams from Omaha coming up. We have two teams from Aberdeen. We've got a couple coming from Brainerd, Minnesota, and we have even one coming from La Crosse, Wisconsin, all coming to town to play in this great, fun event,' Vice President, Sioux Falls Curling, Jennifer Farke said. The fun will continue through the weekend. Along with curling, there are also things for people who aren't competing. 'A lot of our local teams donated baskets to raffle off during. So people will buy raffle tickets during the event, and then we will draw and you get to put those raffles into a basket that you would like to win,' Farke said. This weekend's activities are expected to increase excitement for the Olympic Curling Trials coming to town. 'The curlers know that the trials are coming, and they're interested and excited and can't wait to show up during the event in November. But hopefully folks that don't know much about curling or are interested in it and want to come check it out,' President, Sioux Falls Sports Authority, Thomas Lee said. While you may not have what it takes to compete in the Olympics, this weekend will give you an appreciation for the sport. 'People that don't know how to play this or understand the game. We welcome you in, and we will have curlers up on the mezzanine. And everyone will happy to explain to anyone that doesn't understand curling what it is,' Farke said. Alex Post: Aspiring, inspirational swimmer
BROOKINGS, SD (KELO) — There are no lazy summer afternoons lounging by the pool for a Brookings man. Instead, Alex Post is jumping into the water as part of his training to become a world-class swimmer. Oldham-Ramona-Rutland School Board facing a lawsuit His rigorous workouts are an inspiration to others who may be facing challenges of their own. Post swims dozens of laps in the pool at the Miller Wellness Center at SDSU. 'Very exhausting. Especially if I do about half of them are backstrokes, the rest is more of the butterflies and that's a lot harder for me,' Post said. Post is constantly trying to improve his time. 'I could swim in a 25-meter, I think my best time is 45-seconds, which is really good for a guy like me,' Post said. Post, 24, has been swimming for much of his life. But just a couple months ago, he discovered he could swim without a life jacket. And that would plunge him into uncharted waters. 'At first, I was afraid to swim. I thought I was going to drown. And so, I finally had to get past that fear and just do it,' Post said. You see, he swims without any legs. 'I was born with the rare genetic disease called arthrogryposis which affects muscle and bone,' Post said. A dozen years ago, Post decided to have his legs surgically removed. 'A lot of my joints are frozen into place. They can't move and so I knew I was never going to be able to walk with my legs so I told my parents I wanted to remove my legs,' Post said. Now he aspires to compete in the Paralympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. But first, he'll have to compete in preliminary events at the regional and national level. Whenever Post is in the water, he's overflowing with confidence. 'He's driven, super-outgoing, confident and then the biggest thing is he's reliable. Every day he wants to get better,' Post's coach and caregiver Scott Ault said. South Dakota's fall pheasant outlook is 'very positive' 'I push myself and it gets tough sometimes because the muscles hurt. Everything's going to hurt and I know that I'm going to get there,' Post said. Post is staying in his lane in pursuing his paralympic dream. But he's looking beyond his own ambitions to bring hope to others. 'I'm not just trying to inspire people with disabilities. But people that think they're not good enough in life, that want to give up and I just want to show people there's no point in giving up, there's something that you can do,' Post said. Leaving a legacy of determination and drive in his wake. 'One of the things my mother always said was: you shoot for the moon and if you don't get there, you'll still fall amongst the stars. The Lynx announced on Friday that they've signed EuroLeague veteran center Maria Kliundikova to a free agent deal. Standing at 6-foot-4, Kliundikova averaged 11.2 points and 7.5 rebounds in her last professional season in the Premier Basketball League. She made her international debut at 16 years old at EuroBasket Women 2015. She has played professionally in Russia since 2014, and she's been with UMMC Ekaterinburg since 2018. She was drafted by the Sparks with the 11th pick in the first round of the 2018 WNBA Draft. She played 40 regular-season games with Los Angeles, most recently averaging 7.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in the 2019 season. She signed a training camp deal with the Sparks this February, but she was waived before the season. At 26 years old, Kliundikova will join Minnesota for its next Commissioner's Cup game on Sunday against the Wings. The details of her deal were not revealed.
