Nurse reveals the ‘worst baby name ever' and confesses ‘it keeps me up at night'

The Sun02-06-2025
FINDING the perfect name for your little one isn't always easy.
You could go the classic and traditional route, or push the boat out and give them a much more unique moniker.
2
Either way, the name parents give their newborns will definitely be judged by strangers, friends and family.
But there's one name more likely to receive some of that harsh judgement.
This comes after one Reddit user revealed the name nurses from their local delivery centre deemed it the 'worst name'.
Apparently, one baby was unlucky enough to be called Richie Rich Putin.
The moniker is a combination of actor Macaulay Culkin's 1990s film Richie Rich and the last name of Russian president, Vladimir Putin.
'I used to think the name laws are more strict [in Germany] than in other countries,' the Reddit user wrote.
'The city will decide whether the name you chose is an actual name or the child will be bullied for it.'
But somehow, little Richie Rich Putin wasn't picked up on by authorities.
'Just felt like I had to share that while lying awake thinking about my soon-to-be-born child's name,' they added.
But after sharing the unusual name on the social media site people couldn't believe any parent would really use the name on their bundle of joy.

'Do parents really hate their child that much? Or do they think it's funny and don't think it through for the kid's future?" one person commented.
"That poor child. Can you imagine all oligarch bootlicking that must go on in its home," a second said.
Meanwhile, someone else said: "Wow, and they gave my mom sh*t back then because my name apparently wasn't masculine enough.
"They tried to get her to give me a more traditional German middle name. She stood her ground long enough that they gave up."
But the name isn't the only unusual one that cause a stir online recently, as one mum decided to name her son after a mode of transport.
Taking to Reddit, the mum-to-be's concerned cousin revealed that she was desperate to talk her out of the unusual name.
She said: "I just got invited to the shower for my cousin's baby, and she's naming the baby...
"Trucklyn.
"No one is saying anything in the group chat about the fact that they're going to name this baby Trucklyn.
"I think I have to go to the baby shower to try and get them to change it, or at least figure out why."
The cousin added that she had tried to figure out if the name was a joke, but had so far been unsuccessful.
Reddit users flooded the comments section with their thoughts, with many critical of the unique moniker.
One person said: "It is your duty to try to convince them to change the name.
A second person said: "Poor kid wont stand a chance."
The struggle of choosing a baby name
CHLOE Morgan, a Senior Writer at Fabulous, has revealed her dilemma on choosing a baby name...
At 35 weeks pregnant, by far the trickiest part of pregnancy for me in the past few months (minus the insomnia and countless night-time wee breaks!) has been trying to decide on a baby name.
The dilemmas are endless...
My partner and I went for a private scan to find out the gender as early as we could - partly due to the fact we thought it would make baby naming so much easier because we'd only have to come up with a list of names for one gender rather than two.
How wrong we were...
I was absolutely thrilled to be told I was expecting the baby girl I'd already dreamed of, but being one of the last of my friends to fall pregnant, I've had countless conversations over the years with excited pals discussing their top baby names...something which I wish I could go back in time and un-hear.
With each friend mentioning at least 10 possible monikers, I can't help but feel like several are now a no-go even though I know it's something that none of them would mind in the slightest - it's a total me problem!
The debate comes up time and time again on social media forums - can you choose the same name that was a "potential" for a friend's baby?
It's a very divisive topic and opinions are always mixed...and I don't want to be THAT person.
While some will argue there's thousands of other names out there to choose from, others will say you need to choose YOUR favourite...after all, there's no guarantee that person will even have another baby.
Then there's also the issue of finding a name you adore...only to research it online and read one negative comment amongst hundreds of positives that you just can't shake off.
I made that very mistake when I fell in love with a certain name (I won't reveal it because I don't want to ruin it for others!) ...only to see someone point out that it constantly gets autocorrected on a phone to something rather rude instead.
So, back to the drawing board we went..
Just five weeks to go and it looks like our little one is going to be known as 'baby gal' for a little while longer!

Royal once dubbed one of the 'hottest unknown princes' is celebrated by the Greek Royal Family as he turns 25

The Greek Royal Family celebrated Prince Achileas-Andreas' 25th birthday on Tuesday, with his parents and siblings sharing touching messages on social media. Achileas-Andreas, who recently graduated from New York University, is the third child of Crown Prince Pavlos of and Marie-Chantal Miller. He is one of five children; his siblings include sister Maria-Olympia, 29, and brothers Constantine-Alexios, 26, Odysseas-Kimon, 20, and Aristidis-Stavros, 17. The 25-year-old, who goes by the name Achi, is an actor who was recently dubbed one of Tatler's 'hottest unknown princes'. When he marked his quarter century on Tuesday - not long after his sister Maria-Olympia turned 29 on July 25 - his parents and siblings marked the special day with a series of Instagram posts and Stories. His father Pavlos, Crown Prince of Greece, 58, shared an image of his son on a yacht, wearing shades, a white shirt and red shorts. The image was accompanied by a caption which said: 'Happy Birthday Achilea always stand strong.' Meanwhile, Achi's mother Marie-Chantal Miller shared a shot of the royal which she accompanied by a sweet message. Her greetings read: 'Happy birthday to my number 3! may this year be a great one love you mucho mucho.' She also shared an image via Stories, which showed Achi's birthday cake, complete with candles. The actor's siblings' posts were equally touching: his elder sister Maria-Olympia took to Instagram Stories to mark his special day. She shared two Stories, the first an image of her brother wearing a red shirt and pair of sunglasses, with a written message that tagged him and said: 'Happy birthday.' Her second story boasted an image of her with her brother, alongside text which read: 'ilysm [I love you so much].' His brother Odysseas also shared an Instagram Story post, opting for an image featuring him and Achi. A caption was superimposed on the image. It said: 'Happy birthday @achi_of_greece I love you very much, have the best day ever.' His youngest sibling, brother Aristidis-Stavros posted a snap of Achi on a boat looking out over the sea as the sun set. Text accompanying the image said: 'Happy birthday to my amazing brother @achi_of_greece, I love you so much.' Achi, who was born in New York, divided his time between the US and the UK, studying at college in Berkshire before attending NYU, where he trained in performing arts. While he is a member of the Greek Royal Family, they have had no right to the throne since December 1974, when voters overwhelmingly backed a republican constitution, months after the fall of a seven-year military dictatorship. The exiled royals then lived in England for many years after the late King Constantine II and his family members were stripped of Greek citizenship in 1994 in a dispute with the government over formerly royal property and over claims that he refused to renounce any right to the Greek throne for his descendants. However, in December last year, in a decision published in the government gazette, dated Friday, citizenship was granted to 10 members of the former royal family. They include the five children of the late king and former Queen Anne-Marie as well as Archi and his four siblings. The Royal Family's statement was shared by Crown Prince Pavlos - Constantine's eldest son - to his Instagram account and was posted in both Greek and English. The official statement read: 'It is with deep emotion that, after 30 years, we hold the Greek citizenship again. The law of 1994 deprived us of our citizenship, rendering us stateless with all that this entails in terms of individual rights and great emotional distress. Our father and our family fully respected the result of the 1974 referendum. 'However, the provision of the 1994 law on citizenship, a result of the political status at the time, was not befitting of a former head of the Greek state and an institution that served the country faithfully. The passing of our father marked the end of an era.'
