Couple renovating their 1850s home make a chilling discovery
A couple renovating their 175-year-old Victorian house were left on edge after finding bones, teeth and a pigeon carcass in their walls.
Millie Molloy, 24, and Brad Worth, 23, from Plymouth, bought what they thought was an ordinary £175,000 two-bedroom home in July 2023.
But when they started to find animal bones wrapped in muslin, a hammer and even a woman's heeled show, concern started to grow.
'It puts you on edge,' Millie said.
'We could see teeth – it was still very odd. The pigeon made me jump – it was in the chimney breast.'
The couple feel slightly more at ease now after being told by a local historian that the animal bones were put in the wall to ward off evil spirits.
The hammer had been left because of a previous renovation, while the woman's heeled shoe was left because it protects fertility.
Both Millie and Brad have decided to keep the shoe back because they plan on having children one day.
They also found a postcard dating back to 1952 which helped them find out that the home was once a butchers in the 1920s.
The couple are taking the eerie discoveries in their stride and are spending £30,000 to £40,000 incorporating some of the Victorian elements back into the home which they aim to finish this summer.
Millie added: 'We fell in love with Victorian elements.
'Now we are creating a mixture of soft modern and Victorian elements.'
In March, a human skeleton was found inside a home in Ancaster, north east of Grantham.
Police said they were unsure how old the remains were and no formal identification has taken place. More Trending
Pictures from the scene showed a blue tent set up in the garden of a home in the village, with entrances taped off.
In 2018, a couple made a gruesome discovery after finding the remains of their previous homeowner inside their wall.
The new tenants found the remains of Mary Stewart Cerruti, 61, in Texas, more than a year after she went missing.
Police believe she got wedged in the wall space after falling through her attic floor.

Retired vicar admits role in 'Eunuch Maker' extreme body modification ring
A retired vicar has admitted taking part in an extreme body modification ring run by a man calling himself the Eunuch Maker. Reverend Geoffrey Baulcomb, 79, pleaded guilty to GBH with intent after using a pair of scissors to carry out a surgical procedure on a man's penis in January 2020. He was captured in a nine-second video performing the makeshift op, which involved the enlarging the opening of a man's urethra. Baulcomb previously admitted to distributing an indecent photo of a child in March 2020 and three counts of making indecent images of children on or before December 2022. He also pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing extreme pornographic images, amounting to 195 images. The images are linked to the self-styled 'Eunuch Maker' Marius Gustavson, who mutilated paying customers and streamed it online. Norwegian Gustavson, who had his own penis cut off, a nipple removed and his leg frozen so it had to be amputated, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 22 years. His penis was found in a drawer in his home almost four years after it had been amputated. Baulcomb was arrested in connection with the incident in December 2022. He was ordained as a priest in 1970 and worked in Chichester, West Sussex, according to the Church of England website. Judge Nigel Lickley KC granted Baulcomb conditional bail, ordering him not to attend any Church of England premises or functions and to have no contact with children under the age of 18. More Trending Prosecutor Caroline Carberry said: 'This defendant is not deemed a flight risk by the police in this case. 'He has been on bail for a really long period of time now.' Tourist restrains influencer after ‘cruel' Apple Pay prank plagues Londoners

The viral trend sees Tiktokers play the Apple Pay 'ding' sound next to a stranger's phone, saying 'thank you' and walking away. This leaves the victim of the prank thinking they have had money taken from them. One influencer, F Boogie, walked up to a tourist on the River Thames and pretended to take £1,000 from them. But the tourist, enraged at the thought he had so much money taken from him, physically restrained the Tiktoker. A plainclothed police officer then arrived at the scene, and handcuffed F Boogie who shouts: 'Oh my hand bruv, my hand, you've f***ed up my hand.' The prank does not cause any financial or physical harm, but it can leave victim's distressed and confused. Users who are choosing to pull the prank on someone, pretend to make a contactless payment with their phone against someone else's. The prank is complete with the classic Apple Pay 'ding' and a a graphic on the user's phone signifying payment has been complete. Pranksters tend to say 'thank you' at the end to really ham home the act and get a reaction out of their victim. Some commenters beneath the videos have said it is cruel, and is only being done for Tiktok hits. Londoners will be pleased to know that money can never be taken from them from someone else's phone. Apple Pay requires authorization and a payment terminal. So phones are unable to transfer funds just by touching. Metro has contacted the Met Police for comment.
