The singer-actor made his much-anticipated entry at fashion's biggest night in an outfit that was not just stylish but full of meaning. Dressed in a royal look, Diljit paid tribute to Patiala's Maharaja Bhupinder Singh. The traditional outfit, designed by Nepalese-American designer Prabal Gurung, featured many stunning details that included a cape with Punjabi words embroidered on it, a sleek silhouette and fine jewels. It wasn't just a fashion choice, it was a bold and proud representation of his roots on one of the biggest international stages.
As soon as Diljit posted pictures from the event on his Instagram, fans flooded his comments with love, pride and admiration. His caption read, 'Main hoon Punjab. Inspired by the theme of Black Dandyism, I bring my turban, my culture, and my mother tongue Punjabi to the Met Gala."

Among the many who shared their excitement was actress Shehnaaz Gill, who commented, 'Feeling proud," clearly moved by the way Diljit carried his culture.
While Shehnaaz showed her admiration for Diljit's Met Gala look, the singer has also spoken highly of her in the past. During an Instagram live session, the singer couldn't stop praising his Honsla Rakh co-star for how far she has come in her journey.
Speaking to Shehnaaz's mother, Diljit said, 'Your daughter is very shy but I am very proud of her. Shehnaaz has truly worked very hard. Where did she start from, and now the whole world knows her name. Everyone is so proud of her. Especially for women, it is very hard for them to make it in this field, and all fields generally. The atmosphere in most industries is not feasible for their growth. It's easier for men comparatively."
On the work front, Diljit has wrapped up the UK schedule for his much-anticipated drama, Sardaar Ji 3, which is directed by Amar Hundal. The movie also features Gulshan Grover, Manav Vij, Nasir Chinyoti, Monica Sharma and Saleem Albela, among others.
The singer also has Punjab 95 in the works, a film believed to be based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who was the director of a bank in Amritsar during the militancy period in Punjab. Moreover, he is shooting for Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh, alongside Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty.
Meanwhile, Shehnaaz is gearing up for her next project, Ikk Kudi, which will hit theatres on June 13. The Punjabi-language movie is a joint venture by Kaushal Joshi's Raaya Picturez, Shehnaaz Gill Production and Amarjit Singh Saron's Amor Film Presents. The film is written and directed by Amarjit Singh Saron. She will also be seen in Sab First Class, directed by Balwinder Singh Janjua, alongside Varun Sharma.
