Jessie J reveals heartbreaking reason she continued working after devastating miscarriage

Daily Mirror26-04-2025

Pop star Jessie J has opened up about her baby loss, after suffering a tragic miscarriage in November 2021, just a day after excitedly announcing her baby news to fans
Jessie J has revealed why she continued to work following her devastating miscarriage in 2021. The pop star had announced her pregnancy on Instagram, with delighted fans sending the sweet post viral.
But sadly, Jessie suffered a tragic miscarriage just one day after sharing her baby news, with the star then forced to update her fans on what had happened. The 37-year-old then took to the stage in Los Angeles shortly after finding out that there was no longer a heartbeat during her third scan.

Although the Domino singer went on to have a healthy baby boy, Sky, in May 2023. However, her miscarriage still weighs heavy on her heart. In a new interview, Jessie admits that she doesn't regret continuing to work during a period she describes as "the saddest, loneliest time".

She has revealed that six days after finding out her baby "had gone", she hadn't passed anything, and admitted that "letting go" of the thing she'd dreamt of was difficult. Her sister went to LA to be with her while she pushed through the pain to carry on with her singing commitments.
Speaking to Elle, former coach on The Voice, Jessie explained: "I'd booked this acoustic residency, six back-to-back shows and I still wanted to do the show." She said she doesn't regret the shows, but is still unable to work out if she enjoyed playing them.
Jessie added: "I realised there's an element to this life that makes you feel not quite human. That's a whole play on words in No Secrets: 'I chose the spotlight'. That instinct – to push through, to share – runs deep."
She now says that performing No Secrets feels like she is "giving myself a hug" every time. Jessie and her partner Chanan Colman, who she began dating in 2021, weeks after her miscarriage, went on to welcome son Sky in May 2023.

In an exclusive interview with the Mirror at Advertising Week Europe in London earlier this month, Jessie spoke more about her loss. She said: "You know losing a child is the worst thing, and I hate that so many people go through it because it is such a difficult experience to get through."
Back in March, mum-of-one Jessie celebrated Mother's Day with a series of wholesome snaps of ehr baby son, where she can be seen cuddling him as a newborn. Other images also show her posing with Sky and his dad Chanan, looking content as a small family.
She captioned her post: "Forever grateful. Forever Sky. I was 11 days post partum in these pictures and had no clue what I was doing. I still don't always know. But I do know that I love this boy more than anything in this world."

Kneecap's legal team for court battle to include Julian Assange lawyer

Rapper O hAnnaidh, who performs under the name Mo Chara, will be represented by a team that includes Gareth Peirce, solicitor for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange during his fight against US extradition, and Rosalind Comyn, who has represented Extinction Rebellion protesters in court. The 27-year-old was charged by postal requisition over the alleged display of a Hezbollah flag at a gig at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, north London, in November last year. His legal team also includes Darragh Mackin from Phoenix Law, Brenda Campbell KC, Jude Bunting KC and Blinne Ni Ghralaigh KC. Mr Mackin was the solicitor for Sarah Ewart, whose successful legal challenge helped to usher in the decriminalisation of abortion in Northern Ireland, while Ms Campbell was the defence barrister in the collapsed case against Seamus Daly, who was accused of murdering people in the IRA bomb attack in Omagh in 1998. Mr Bunting acted for non-profit company Liberty in the Stansted 15's successful conviction appeal after they broke into Stansted Airport to stop a plane deporting people to Africa, which was a case Ms Ni Ghralaigh also worked on. In an Instagram post the group said: 'The British establishment is conducting a campaign against Kneecap which is to be fought in Westminster Magistrates Court… We are ready for this fight. We are proud to have such a strong legal team with us.' In May, the Metropolitan Police said Kneecap were being investigated by counter-terrorism police after videos emerged allegedly showing the band calling for the deaths of MPs and shouting 'up Hamas, up Hezbollah'. They apologised to the families of murdered MPs but said footage of the incident had been 'exploited and weaponised'. They also said they have 'never supported' Hamas or Hezbollah, which are banned in the UK. In 2024, the band released an eponymous film starring Oscar-nominated actor Michael Fassbender which is a fictionalised retelling of how the band came together and follows the Belfast group on their mission to save their mother tongue through music. Formed in 2017, the group, made up of O hAnnaidh, Naoise O Caireallain and JJ O Dochartaigh, are known for their provocative lyrics and merchandise as well as their championing of the Irish language. Their best-known tracks include Get Your Brits Out, Better Way To Live, featuring Grian Chatten from Fontaines DC, and 3Cag. O hAnnaidh is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on June 18. His lawyers have been approached for comment.

What is going on between Miley Cyrus' brother and Brenda Song after shock claims

Miley Cyrus' brother Trace Cyrus has accused his ex-fiancé Brenda Song of 'faking multiple pregnancies' and 'pretending to be terminally ill.' The Metro Station musician, 36, took to Instagram to share the shocking claims in retaliation to a user insulting him. The former couple split in 2017 – with the Suite Life of Zack and Cody star, 37, currently engaged to Hollywood star Macaulay Culkin, with whom she shares children Dakota, four, and Carson, two. The former couple were thought to be on good terms, with Cyrus previously congratulating the Running Point actress on her engagement, saying he was 'extremely happy for her.' He wrote on Instagram at the time: 'She inspired me to write countless songs and was such an important part of my life. I will always cherish songs I have … to remind me of our crazy 7 years together.' So, what happened between the two? Cyrus and Song confirmed their relationship in 2010 and got engaged just a year later. Announcing the news, Shake It hitmaker tweeted: 'I am very excited to say, last week I asked my girlfriend Brenda Song to marry me and she said YES! We are both very excited to be engaged!' Just a year later, however, Cyrus revealed they had ended things to 'focus on their careers.' He said in a statement: 'Brenda and I have decided to go our separate ways. We split up a couple of months ago. 'We will continue to focus on our careers. I wish Brenda the best and much success in the future. I hope everyone can respect our privacy about this situation. Thanks so much.' The couple were linked on and off until 2017, when they eventually split for good and Cyrus began dating Taylor Lauren Sanders a year later. In 2018, the musician released a song named Brenda, where he opened up about their romance ending for the final time. 'I wrote this song last year in Nashville after Brenda and I broke up. Her and I have both moved on and I'm extremely happy for her,' he wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post. After saying she inspired him to 'write countless songs', he continued: 'When I wrote this song it was my final goodbye as we ended our relationship. 'I told myself after I wrote this song it would be my last song about Brenda and I've kept my word. Music like this is my therapy. Enjoy.' After the relationship ended, Song moved on with Culkin in 2017, with the pair getting engaged in 2022. In a bombshell post on Twitter, Cyrus alleged that Song 'faked multiple pregnancies' and 'lied about being terminally ill.' The musician lashed out following a comment on Instagram, which read: 'Ahhhh now we know why Brenda left. Good riddance.' According to he alleged: 'Yes because she stole thousands of dollars from me and faked multiple pregnancies, & lied about being terminally ill to make my family and I think that she had breast cancer in the brain tumor.' Cyrus said that it 'was all a lie' and that Song was allegedly 'humiliated to ever show her face around his family again once they figured it out', claiming that his mom Tish Cyrus 'confronted her and called her out on all of it.' In a separate comment, he claimed: 'Oh, she also faked an abortion with fake blood covering the bathroom floor in my mom and I register her to the OB/GYN – that's when all the lies started unraveling and we realized it was fake.' The musician then took to his Instagram Stories to share more shocking allegations. 'The funniest part though is when she showed up after getting the 'brain tumour' removed from the best surgeon in Chicago,' he continued. 'She didn't realize we were catching on to her lies. So when she showed up to my house with a bandage on her head claiming she just got out of surgery.' More Trending Cyrus claims that he 'ripped the bandage off' to prove 'no surgery had been done.' 'There's more proof of how f****d in the head child stars are,' he concluded. 'I hope she's doing better mentally.' Song has not yet responded to the claims.
