Adnan Sami sets stage ablaze with electrifying finale at World Music Festival
Doha
It was a night of sheer musical brilliance, soul-stirring melodies, and an atmosphere charged with energy as internationally-acclaimed singer and composer Padma Shri Adnan Sami brought the curtains down on the World Music Festival 2025 with an unforgettable performance at the Aspire Ladies Hall in Doha on July 4.
Organised by MirchiOne 89.6 FM and Qabayan 94.3 FM in association with Qatar Calendar and powered by Vodafone's iPay and GWM presented by Teyseer Motors, the two-day global music celebration proved to be a roaring success, drawing massive crowds from across Qatar's diverse communities.
While Day 1 on July 3 enthralled audiences with powerful performances by Filipino icons December Avenue and rap legend Gloc-9, it was Adnan Sami's spellbinding Day 2 concert that elevated the festival to its grandest crescendo.
Adnan Sami was welcomed with deafening applause and emotional cheers from fans who packed the venue to witness the maestro live. Clad in a resplendent black suit, Sami exuded elegance and warmth as he sat at his signature grand piano and powered the concert with the deeply emotive 'Tera Chehra.'
As his fingers danced across the keys and his velvet voice filled the hall, a magical stillness descended upon the audience — the kind only a true musical virtuoso can command. What followed was a journey through decades of iconic hits, reimagined with new arrangements, stunning visual effects, and a brilliant band of musicians who matched his energy at every beat.
From the hauntingly beautiful 'Kabhi Toh Nazar Milao' to the upbeat, romantic rhythm of 'Sun Zara,' and the deeply personal notes of 'Bhar Do Jholi Meri' — Sami showcased his artistic range and emotional depth throughout the evening. He even surprised fans with a medley of Bollywood hits he had composed, offering anecdotes behind the making of each song and often encouraging the audience to sing along.
His mastery over both Eastern and Western musical traditions was on full display, as he effortlessly switched between soulful ghazals, pop ballads, and high-energy numbers, captivating both connoisseurs and casual listeners alike.
'I've performed all over the world,' Sami told the audience, 'but Doha has a special kind of magic. The love, the warmth, and the connection I feel here are truly unique. Tonight is not just a concert — it's a celebration of love and unity through music.'
The crowd responded with unbridled enthusiasm. Fans waved flashlights, held up banners, and sang every word with him. Families, teenagers, and long-time admirers from various nationalities were seen dancing, recording, and simply soaking in the electrifying vibe.
As the night neared its end, Sami paused to address the audience with a gleam in his eyes:
'Are you ready for the one that started it all?'
With that, the familiar beat of 'Lift Karade' echoed through the hall, and the crowd erupted. In what can only be described as a musical eruption, Sami delivered his career-defining anthem with unmatched energy and theatrical flair. The audience sang in unison, clapped rhythmically, and turned the venue into a sea of movement and sound.
The song served as a perfect grand finale — lifting not just spirits, but the entire experience to euphoric heights. The roar of the crowd was deafening as confetti rained down and lights danced to the pulse of the music. Adnan Sami stood, bowed, and thanked Doha for an 'incredible night of love.'
The World Music Festival 2025 was more than a concert — it was a celebration of global cultures, shared heritage, and the unifying power of music. With a lineup that traversed genres, languages, and continents, it resonated deeply with Qatar's multicultural identity.
Speaking after the event, the organisers expressed immense gratitude to the people of Qatar for their overwhelming response. 'We wanted to create something unforgettable, something that brings people together — and with Adnan Sami's performance, we couldn't have asked for a better culmination,' said a representative fromMirchiOne FM.
As attendees filed out into the night, their faces glowing with joy, one thing was certain: Adnan Sami didn't just perform in Doha — he created a memory that will echo in the city's cultural landscape for years to come.

From contenders to crowd favorites: Meet MYK – Qatar's rising OPM trio
Darlene Regis They came. They sang. They conquered hearts. The Filipino music scene in Qatar is bursting with homegrown talent, and at the center of it all is MYK – a powerhouse vocal trio, setting Filipino community events ablaze with soulful performances and charismatic charm. Whether a heartfelt ballad or an electrifying OPM hit, this all-Filipino group delivers performances that captivate the crowd. Comprised of Marlon Mercado, Yousef 'Yoe' Domingo Adil, and Kelvin 'Kebong' Sarmiento, MYK is fast becoming a household name among Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Qatar. Get to Know the Men Behind the Mic In an exclusive interview with Qatar Tribune, MYK opened up about their humble beginnings, the spark that brought them together, and the dreams that continue to fuel their journey. From personal stories to backstage wins, the interview sheds light on what drives their passion for music. Born from Competition, Fueled by Chemistry Before they became a trio, Marlon, Yousef, and Kelvin were competitors in a 2023 singing contest in Qatar. But instead of rivalry, what emerged was a rare blend of musical synergy and onstage magic. 'People saw a natural chemistry between us when we were invited to co-host the next season,' they shared. 'That's when MYK was born!' The group reflected on their individual journeys: 'We took different paths to get to Qatar, but we were all driven by the same goal – to seek better job opportunities abroad. As they say, the grass is greener overseas, and Qatar offers a promising environment for personal and professional growth.' 'Each of us brings a unique vocal texture and style to the group, and while we're currently focused on vocals, we complement each other well on stage,' they shared. Marlon, from Batangas, is dubbed the RNB and Balladeer Prince of Doha and also works as a gym instructor. He often performs his own renditions, such as 'Babalik Ka Rin' and 'Please Don't Ask Me' alongside Maestro Dexter Tumang. Kelvin, from Pampanga, is the group's charming spirit, known for his spontaneous humor and strong vocal leads. His humorous moments, often captured in viral reels, give fans a good laugh. Yousef, from Misamis Occidental, balances his career as a jewelry advisor by day and a music artist by night. In 2022, he joined the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in California, USA, representing Qatar and gaining international recognition. He later won the first season of Qatar's Royal Clash competition. The Big Break On July 11, 2025, MYK made their biggest splash yet – opening the 'Sarili Nating Mundo' concert for Filipino icons KZ Tandingan and TJ Monterde at the Qatar National Convention Centre. Their 30-minute pre-show set didn't just warm up the crowd – it ignited it. Their performance was a highlight of the night as they delivered OPM with a punch of soul, sincerity, and stage presence as seasoned pros. From their cover of Beyoncé's 'Listen' to original Filipino love songs, MYK delivered powerhouse vocals, emotional depth, and undeniable chemistry. 'It was our first major performance as MYK and being given that platform meant a lot to us. Despite the jitters, everything clicked once we hit the stage. The audience's applause made all the hard work and rehearsals worth it,' the group recalled. From Covers to Originals Starting with cover songs – from OPM classics to international hits – MYK has carved a musical niche rooted in emotional storytelling and community connection. 'We naturally gravitated toward genres like pop and ballad, which we all love,' they shared. But now, the trio is stepping into uncharted territory with original music. 'As OFWs, we draw inspiration from shared experiences – stories of hope, dreams, friendship, and even heartbreak. We aim for our music to connect emotionally, especially with those living and working far from home. Influences and Inspirations When asked who inspires them, they all answered in unison: Regine Velasquez-Alcasid. 'It was a huge honor to front act for her 2023 Qatar concert–a surreal moment that motivated us to grow as performers,' the group recalls. 'Her vocal mastery left a lasting impact on us.' MYK cites performances at Philippine Independence Day and other cultural events as career-defining highlights. The group also serves as the resident trio of Sinag Digital Media Studio – a community talent platform they've had the privilege of hosting. 'One of our most memorable milestones was hosting Sinag Sessions, which featured Filipino artists in Doha – from vocalists to instrumentalists and bands,' the group shared. 'It validated not just our music but our ability to connect and inspire. Working with talented artists who share our passion motivates us to keep growing,' they added. What's Next? The trio is dreaming big: A full album, more original songs, and a potential tour back home in the Philippines. 'We're currently working on our first original single, and we're excited to share that it will be released soon on major music platforms,' they revealed. The group is also looking forward to releasing more original tracks on platforms like Spotify, YouTube, among others. 'We're working hard behind the scenes, and we can't wait to bring our music to more people,' they said. 'We hope to inspire others to keep dreaming.' The group is also open to collaborations and excited to share the stage with other artists in the OPM diaspora – locally and internationally. Proudly Pinoy, Loudly Local MYK proudly represents Filipino talent in Qatar. Their mission? To inspire fellow Pinoys to follow their dreams and take part in enriching the vibrant Filipino cultural tapestry in Qatar. 'To all aspiring artists: It's never too late to pursue your passion. Keep showing up, keep believing in yourself, and don't be afraid to take that first step. Your passion has the power to inspire not only yourself but also the community around you. We're cheering for you!' From competitors to collaborators, from community gigs to concerts – MYK isn't just a group of singers. They're a movement. A powerful reminder that talent knows no borders, and passion doesn't need permission. Photo Credits: Elmer Diaz and Joel Garcia
