Maggie Q's morning secrets: Separate beds, dog hikes, and green juice

Express Tribune10-07-2025
Actress Maggie Q, 46, is opening up about her serene lifestyle in Hawaii and her mindful morning habits.
The Ballard star—headlining the Bosch spinoff on Prime Video premiering July 9—recently shared her full routine with PEOPLE's 'My Good Morning' series.
Living part-time in her native Hawaii with her partner of five years, Curtis, and their three dogs, Maggie starts her days early. 'I wake up with the sun. I'm up at six,' she says. Her mornings prioritize peace, grounding, and wellness—beginning with lemon water, followed by nutrient-rich juices packed with ingredients like endive and cabbage.
Maggie revealed that she and Curtis sometimes sleep separately due to his snoring but always reconnect each morning with a warm hug. "Waking up in peace is very important,' she explains, adding that their mornings are filled with quiet and intention.
She walks barefoot, hikes solo with her dogs for up to five miles, and uses the time for what she calls a 'moving meditation.' After the hike, she prepares homemade meals for her dogs using sprouted grains, boiled veggies, and raw meat.
Maggie avoids Botox and injections, opting for skincare made from wild-harvested herbs and natural products like Olaplex and Ash Botanicals. Her two-hour morning routine is not just a habit—it's a philosophy of self-respect and balance, proving that even Hollywood stars benefit from slowing down.

Jamie Lee Curtis weighs in on CBS' cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Jamie Lee Curtis has shared her thoughts on CBS' controversial decision to cancel The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, a move that has sparked significant backlash. While attending the Culture Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday, July 17, Curtis was asked about the network's announcement and expressed her disappointment, stating, "It's bad." The 66-year-old actress, known for her roles in Freaky Friday and Halloween, praised Colbert, calling him "a great, great guy." Colbert, who has hosted the late-night program since 2015, will see the show come to an end in May 2026. Curtis also used the occasion to voice her concerns over recent legislative changes aimed at rolling back funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which supports PBS and NPR. "They're trying to silence people," Curtis said cryptically, before predicting, "That won't work. We will just get louder," with a confident smile. The cancellation of The Late Show has raised eyebrows across the entertainment industry, with many, including Curtis, voicing their disapproval. As the 2026 end date looms closer, it remains to be seen what impact the decision will have on late-night television and the broader cultural landscape.

Michael Bradway not returning 'Chicago Fire' season 14 as Jack Damon

NBC's Chicago Fire will see another change in its cast for Season 14, as Michael Bradway, who portrayed firefighter Jack Damon, will not be returning. Bradway, who appeared in 17 episodes across Seasons 12 and 13, has been cast in Every Summer After, a Prime Video adaptation of Carley Fortune's 2022 novel. While Bradway's departure marks the end of his role on the show, producers have left the door open for a possible return depending on his schedule, according to Bradway's character, Jack Damon, was introduced as the half-brother of Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney). His journey on the show was marked by ups and downs, including a tumultuous start at Firehouse 51, followed by his move to another station and a rocky period. However, Damon found his place at Firehouse 51, particularly after the incident in Season 13, when he was trapped in a fire and later received support from Severide and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo). Despite his eventual integration into the team, the looming threat of layoffs and forced retirements due to departmental budget cuts created uncertainty for his future at 51. Bradway is not the only departure ahead of the new season. Actors Daniel Kyri (Darren Ritter) and Jake Lockett (Sam Carver) also will not return as series regulars. As the show gears up for major changes, showrunner Andrea Newman hinted at a shake-up that will test the team's ability to stay united during turbulent times. Despite these exits, Chicago Fire has welcomed Brandon Larracuente (Freeform's Party of Five) as a new series regular for Season 14, although details about his character remain undisclosed.

‘The Night Manager' returns with steamy Colombia-set sequel and fresh Latin cast

After vanishing for nearly a decade, The Night Manager is back, and it's hotter, darker, and deadlier than ever. Season 2 of the acclaimed spy saga has ditched cold European glamour for the tropical intensity of Colombia, with six brand-new episodes soaked in local colour, corruption, and blood-soaked intrigue. The BBC and Prime Video series has shifted gears both visually and narratively, plunging Jonathan Pine, played again by Tom Hiddleston, into a gritty new operation against the backdrop of Colombia's fraught post-conflict reality. Production insiders say the country isn't just a setting, it's the pulse of the new story. From drug money to military scars, the region's raw political past heavily informs the plot, adding a brutal edge to the sleek espionage world viewers once knew. Behind the camera, director Georgi Banks-Davies and creator David Farr pushed for authenticity. The team embedded themselves in Colombia, filming in sweltering heat across Medellín, Cartagena, and the lush valleys around Girardot. Local festivals, cultural landmarks, and street-level chaos all made the cut. The cast and crew braved 50°C heat and 100% humidity, sweating through long days to capture the tension onscreen. Aside from returning leads Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Colman, Season 2 also introduces new blood. Diego Calva and Camila Morrone join the espionage mayhem, bringing a Latin American presence that feels not just timely but necessary. And though Hugh Laurie's villainous Roper is still missing from the trailer, rumours swirl about a surprise return. The Night Manager returns to BBC One in the UK and drops globally on Prime Video in 2026. With Colombia's grit front and centre, this sequel is going to be a reawakening.
