
Commuters give heartfelt farewell to bus crew on NICE-8 route
On Thursday, before the start of their journey from Nelamangala to Electronics City, the passengers organised a small ceremony at the bus stop. The duo were honoured with shawls, garlands, and sweets in appreciation of their dedicated service.
Passengers felicitated driver Sanoth Kumar and conductor Surendra before the trip began. Maruthi A H, a regular commuter, said, "We are grateful for the reliable service on NICE-8.
The driver and conductor were part of our daily commute for over a year, safely ferrying passengers during each scheduled trip. Recently, they received orders from higher-ups deputing them to different routes. In recognition of their service and as a token of gratitude, passengers on our route came together to felicitate the crew.
They too were touched by the warm farewell given by the passengers and expressed their happiness.

The NICE-8 bus departs from Nelamangala at 8.30am and reaches Electronics City at 10.15am, ferrying students, working professionals, factory workers, and employees of industrial hubs along Hosur Road. In the evening, it leaves Electronics City at 5.30pm and returns to Nelamangala by 7pm.
Sathish AG, another passenger, said, "This route is popular among daily commuters. The driver and conductor were part of our daily journey for over a year. When we felicitated them, they were moved by the gesture and even had tears in their eyes."

70 officials rewarded for their meritorious service in Tiruvarur district
Hoisting the national flag, acknowledgement of meritorious services and distribution of welfare assistance marked the Independence Day celebrations held in Tiruvarur district on August 15. While Collector V. Mohanachandran unfurled the tri-colour at a function held at the District Sports Stadium complex near the District Collectorate, respective heads of the civic bodies and educational institutions functioning in Tiruvarur district did the honours at their respective institutions. After hoisting the tri-colour, the Collector honoured the freedom fighters and their legal heirs and presented certificates and medals to 70 government officials for their meritorious service and distributed welfare assistance worth ₹7.11 lakh to 39 beneficiaries under various schemes, according to an official release. CUTN's distinction At the Central University of Tamil Nadu at Neelakudi near Tiruvarur, Vice-Chancellor M. Krishnan hoisted the tri-colour and addressed the staff and students of the institution. In his address, Professor Krishnan said the Central University had been adjudged first among all the Central Universities and third place among all centrally funded institutions in the report published by the Union Ministry of Education on the success stories of higher educational institutions. Giving a brief outline of the social responsibility activities of the institution, the Vice-Chancellor said that the 'Diploma in Silambam' course introduced this year at the CUTN Community College had received an overwhelming response with more than 1,000 applications received for 100 seats. The conduct of the CUET for admissions in Tamil language had opened the doors of higher education to many more students from Tamil Nadu as the percentage of students enrolled in CUTN, which hovered around 10 in the past, had now risen to 40, he added.
