West Delhi Lions triumphed over South Delhi Superstarz by 8 wickets in the Delhi Premier League, thanks to a 158-run opening stand by Ankit Kumar and Krish Yadav.
West Delhi Lions secured a decisive 8-wicket victory over South Delhi Superstarz, fueled by a remarkable opening stand between Ankit Kumar and wicketkeeper-batsman Krish Yadav during the second season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Chasing a target of 186, the Lions' openers launched an aggressive assault. Ankit Kumar and Krish Yadav forged a formidable partnership of 158 runs in just 14 overs, putting their team in a dominant position. Krish Yadav was eventually dismissed for a fluent 67 off 42 balls, showcasing crisp strokeplay and smart running between the wickets.
Ankit Kumar, however, narrowly missed out on a century, falling for a splendid 96 off 46 deliveries, decorated with 11 boundaries and six towering sixes.
Earlier in the match, South Delhi Superstarz began their innings strongly. Openers Kunwar Bidhuri and Sumit Mathur combined for a 74-run stand for the first wicket, with Bidhuri scoring a brisk 42 off 27 balls and Mathur contributing a composed 33 off 29. Captain Ayush Badoni played a crucial role in the middle overs, scoring a vital 48 off 25 balls, delivering when it mattered most.
However, the Superstarz lost momentum in the middle overs, losing wickets regularly and finishing at 185/7. The Lions' bowlers tightened their grip in the death overs, with Anirudh Chowdhary leading the charge, finishing with impressive figures of 3-25 in his 4 overs. Manan Bhardwaj supported well with 2-23, while Hrithik Shokeen also contributed with 1-16.
It was a comprehensive and well-rounded performance by the West Delhi Lions, securing a comfortable victory.
Earlier in the first match of the day, Suyash Sharma and Shaurya Malik delivered a bowling masterclass as Outer Delhi Warriors crushed Purani Dilli 6 by a commanding 82-run margin in the sixth match of Season 2 of the Delhi Premier League (DPL), held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

After Dhull's century helped the Kings to set a mammoth 198-run target in the game, which was reduced to 16 overs per side, the Strikers got of to a brilliant start on Saturday. Openers Sarthak Ranjan (52 off 26) and Arnav Bugga (43 off 13) stitched an 85-run partnership inside five overs before the latter departed after smashing five fours and three sixes. However, as the innings progressed, Central Delhi Kings fought back, making timely breakthroughs and slowing down the momentum. Key wickets at crucial junctures, including the dismissals of Sarthak Ranjan, Yajas Sharma, Yash Dabas, and Vaibhav Kandpal, halted the charge.
