Beniwal fifer seals big win for South Delhi Superstarz vs Purani Dilli 6
New Delhi, Aug 18 (PTI) Sumit Kumar Beniwal's fiery five-wicket haul helped South Delhi Superstarz script a comprehensive 46-run victory over Purani Dilli 6 in the Delhi Premier League here.
Chasing a challenging 185, Purani Dilli 6 folded for 138 in 18.3 overs on Sunday. Beniwal grabbed 5/19 in his four overs), while Abhishek Khandelwal (4/31) added to the damage.
Beniwal struck with back-to-back breakthroughs in the power play as Purani Dilli 6 crumbled to 28/6 inside eight overs.
The only bright spot in their innings came from Ekansh Dobal, who stitched together a 46-run stand with Lalit Yadav (22 off 28) to bring some stability before Yadav was bowled by Beniwal.
Dobal (63) carried on to reach a well-deserved half-century, but his lone hand was not enough.
Batting first, South Delhi Superstarz scored 184.
Their openers gave them the perfect start with Anmol Sharma and Ankur Kaushik putting on a 70-run partnership.
While Kaushik departed for 21 off 17, Sharma anchored the innings with a fluent 50.
The middle order faltered under pressure, but a crucial cameo from Vision Panchal in the closing stages lifted the total past 180.
For Purani Dilli 6, Lalit Yadav (3/24) and Rajneesh Dadar (3/30) were the standout performers with the ball.

In what has become a four-way race for the final spot in India's squad for the upcoming Asia Cup, one among star batters Shreyas Iyer and Rinku Singh, besides all-rounders Washington Sundar and Riyan Parag, might be picked for the tournament, according to a report in The Indian Express. Iyer, Rinku or Riyan, or they might even go with Sundar. If selectors take a call on pure batting talent, they do not have to look beyond Iyer, who led two different teams, both with the bat against spin and his captaincy, to Indian Premier League finals in two consecutive seasons. Iyer has grown into a confident presence of late, earning respect in every dressing room he steps into. But Sundar poses a roadblock in front of Iyer. Aditi logs best finish of 2025, 6th in Portland
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Portland (Oregon), Aug 18 (PTI) Aditi Ashok fired a final round of 5-under 67 to finish sixth in The Standard Portland Classic held at Columbia Edgewater Country Club on the LPGA. The sixth place finish is Aditi's best finish of the season on the LPGA and only the second Top-10 finish this season. Aditi shot 69-70-65-67 to finish the week with a score of 17 under par. She had seven birdies and two bogeys in her final round. Indian-American Gurleen Kaur shot 7-under 65 on the final day for her career best result of second with a total score of 20-under par. Kaur shot rounds of 65-68-70-65 to end the week four strokes behind the winner Akie Iwai. Indian-Canadian Savannah Grewal finished tied 38 with a total score of seven under par (69-67-72-73). Akie Iwai shot a final round of 6-under 66 to secure her maiden title by a comfortable margin of four strokes. The Japanese player finished the week with a total score of 24 under par (67-67-64-66).
