Garda investigation into alleged theft of bullocks in Roscommon
According to a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána, the cattle were identified to have been allegedly stolen from a farm shed on the premises overnight at some point between 11:00p.m on April 11 and 7:00a.m on April 12, 2025.
Garda investigations into the alleged stolen cattle have been confirmed as 'ongoing' and gardaí have appealed to the public for information that may help with their inquiries.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Roscommon Garda Station on 090 6638300 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
Meanwhile, in Co. Westmeath, gardaí have appealed for information to help with an investigation into a stolen tree shear from a premises.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that the alleged theft of the Oreil-branded tree shear occurred at a premises in Rathowen, Co. Westmeath, on the night of May 1, 2025.
The spokesperson has urged anyone with relevant information to contact gardaí in Mullingar on 04493-84000.
CSO crime statistics
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) 'Recorded Crime Q3 2024' report, published on March 3, 2025, revealed that the number of recorded crime incidents relating to burglary and related offences rose by 10% or 878 individual incidents, to 9,981 in the year to Q3 2024.
Q3 2024 refers to the three months of July, August, and September, in 2024.
The report also outlined the fact that recorded crime incidents relating to theft and related offences were also up by 7%, or 5,331 individual instances of theft, to 77,260 incidents, over the same time period.
Commenting on the data at the time, statistician in CSO's crime and criminal justice section, James Dalton said:
'Recorded crime statistics published for July, August, and September (Q3) 2024 showed that the number of recorded crime incidents of burglary and related offences and theft and related offences increased, while those relating to homicide fell in the year to Q3 2024.
'Other crimes were up as well including kidnapping, weapons, and explosives offences, and public order and other social code offences.
'By contrast, there was a decrease in crime incidents involving controlled drug offences, offences against government, justice procedures, and organisation of crime, robbery, extortion and hijacking offences, and sexual offences.'

Scrambler driver, 20s, in 'serious condition' after collision with street pole
A young man is in a serious condition in hospital after the scrambler bike he was driving collided with a street pole in Dublin. Gardaí and emergency services received a report of a scrambler bike having collided with a street light pole on The Royal Canal Way at Ashtown Gate in Dublin at around 5pm on Sunday. The driver, a male in his 20s, was removed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown and has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition. Motorcyclist dies following crash in Co Mayo on Sunday
A man has died in hospital following a collision between his motorbike and a car in Co Mayo on Sunday. In separate incidents, a Garda motorcyclist is being treated in hospital in Dublin after a collision with a car in Dundrum on Tuesday, and a man in his 20s is in a serious condition after his scrambler collided with a street light in Ashtown. Sunday's crash happened at Castlebar Road, Newport, at about 4.50pm. The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 50s, was taken to Mayo University Hospital where he subsequently died. No injuries to others were reported. A man aged in his 60s was later arrested in connection with the incident and subsequently released without charge pending further investigations. READ MORE Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage who were travelling in the area of Castlebar Road, between 4pm and 5pm on Sunday 17th August 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí. An appeal has also been made for witnesses to Tuesday's crash, which occurred shortly before 10am. Gardaí said they and other emergency services were alerted to the incident involving a car and Garda motorcycle. The on-duty Garda member was taken to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Welfare supports have been made available to the Garda by local management. No other injuries were reported. The Upper Churchtown Road, Dundrum, which had been closed for a period of time, has since reopened to traffic. Gardaí further seek witnesses to the scrambler collision, which occurred on the Royal Canal Way, Ashtown Gate, Dublin 15 at about 5pm on Sunday. The driver was removed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown and later transferred to Beaumont, where he remains in a serious condition.
