Unemployed man charged with father's murder in Kuala Krai

KUALA KRAI: An unemployed man was charged in the magistrate's court here today with the murder of his father.
No plea was recorded from the accused, Narosman Othman, 39, as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Narosman is accused of killing Othman Jusoh, 74, at a house in Kampung Kuala Gris here between 6am and 6.30am on Aug 6.
The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty upon conviction, or between 30 and 40 years' imprisonment and at least 12 strokes of the rotan.
Magistrate Amal Razim Alias fixed Sept 10 for mention and ordered the accused, who was unrepresented, to be sent to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Tanjung Rambutan, Perak, for psychiatric evaluation.
Earlier reports stated that the bloodied body of the victim was found in the kitchen of his home.

SEREMBAN: A 31-year-old husband fatally stabbed a 28-year-old man in Senawang near here on Monday (Aug 11), because the victim had an affair with his wife. Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof stated that a preliminary investigation showed the victim had known the suspect's wife for approximately a month prior to the incident. "The the motive for the incident, as we now understand, is that the suspect killed the victim after discovering his wife's affair. "The wife came to know the victim via social media," he said. ALSO READ: Cops nab murder suspect in Senawang Ahmad Dzaffir said the suspect did not have any criminal record, and a urine test returned negative for substance abuse. He also advised the public to refrain from posting comments on social media, as the matter was still under investigation. Police detained the suspect after he stabbed the victim in front of his house in Taman Seri Pagi around 7pm. They also seized a knife believed to have been used in the crime from the suspect. The case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Police have since obtained an order from the court to remand the suspect until Aug 18.

PETALING JAYA: Selangor police have confirmed that former Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli's son was attacked by an unknown individual at IOI City Mall in Putrajaya on August 13, 2025. In an official statement released today, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar (pic) confirmed that a police report was lodged regarding an incident involving a male child who was physically approached and pricked with an unidentified device by an unknown individual. The attack occurred at the entrance of Symphony 2, IOI City Mall, Putrajaya, in front of K-FRY premises. Preliminary investigations confirmed that the victim is the son of Datuk Seri Mohd Rafizi Ramli, who is Pandan MP and former Minister of Economy. Following the incident, police have opened an investigation paper under three separate provisions: - Section 14(D) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (Act 792) - If convicted, the perpetrator faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and whipping. - Section 324 of the Penal Code - Provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years, or fine, or whipping, or any combination of two of these punishments. - Section 352 of the Penal Code - Provides for imprisonment of up to three months, or a fine of up to RM1,000, or both. Shazeli also said that reported that the victim's condition is stable. A comprehensive investigation involving various aspects is being conducted by Selangor police contingent with assistance from the Criminal Investigation Department at Bukit Aman headquarters. The investigation focuses on multiple angles, including efforts to identify the motive behind the incident and the object used by the suspect. As of now, the suspect has not been identified, and further investigations are being actively pursued. The public will be informed of any developments from time to time. KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 — The High Court here will hear the defamation suit filed by former environment and water minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man against former economy minister Datuk Seri Mohd Rafizi Ramli over six days in September, beginning Sept 8. The suit, filed on Nov 17, 2022, relates to statements allegedly defamatory concerning the approval of several projects, including a flood mitigation project, awarded to a company. Lawyer Yusfarizal Yussoff, representing Tuan Ibrahim, said Judge Datuk Aliza Sulaiman has set Sept 8, 9, 10, 11, 29, and 30 for the trial. This was also confirmed by lawyer Nik Zarith Nik Moustpha, representing Mohd Rafizi. Neither of the two former ministers was present at today's proceedings, which were conducted in chambers. In his statement of claim, Tuan Ibrahim alleged that Rafizi made defamatory statements against him at two press conferences at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya, which were streamed live on the defendant's YouTube account, on Jan 7 and 9, 2022.
