Lucasfilm and Disney settle with actor Gina Carano following her firing from ‘The Mandalorian'
The specific terms of the agreement were not made available.
'Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect,' Lucasfilm said in a statement. 'With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.'
The two sides stipulated in a federal court filing Thursday that the case should be dismissed with prejudice, meaning it can't be refiled. A judge still needs to formally dismiss it. The case had been scheduled to go to trial in Los Angeles in February of next year.
The lawsuit, filed in a federal court in California last year, alleged Carano was wrongfully terminated from the 'Star Wars' galaxy Disney+ series after two seasons due to a post likening the treatment of American conservatives to the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany. Her posts were widely criticized online and spurred a trending #FireGinaCarano hashtag.
'I'd like to thank you all for your unrelenting support throughout my life and career, you've been the heartbeat that has kept my story alive. I hope to make you proud,' Carano wrote in a statement Thursday. 'I am excited to flip the page and move onto the next chapter. My desires remain in the arts, which is where I hope you will join me.'
Carano thanked Elon Musk for helping fund the lawsuit 'and asking for nothing in return.' The suit had alleged that the 43-year-old actor was fired because she 'dared voice her own opinions' against an 'online bully mob who demanded her compliance with their extreme progressive ideology.'
Carano is a former mixed martial artist who played the recurring character Cara Dune on the show, which launched in 2019 and ran for three seasons. A feature film starring Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver, 'The Mandalorian and Grogu,' is set for release next summer.
Carano had previously been criticized for mocking mask wearing during the pandemic and making false allegations of voter fraud during the 2020 presidential election.

'This journey has been so special full of peace, excitement, and so much grace.' She also thanked God for being 'so faithful' and said: 'His kindness in this season has left (us) in awe.' Brandon shared Savannah and her brother Seth Blackstock with his first wife, Melissa Ashworth, whom he married in 2001 and divorced in 2012. He was later married to Kelly Clarkson from 2013 to 2022, with whom he had two children – daughter River, 11, and son Remington, nine. A spokesperson said about his death: 'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. 'He bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.' The day before Brandon's death, Kelly, 43, announced she was cancelling the remaining August dates of her Las Vegas residency, saying she needed to be 'fully present' for their children as her ex-husband was 'ill'. The former couple's last red carpet appearance together was in January 2020 at the Critics' Choice Awards. Clarkson filed for divorce five months later.

Jamie Lee Curtis calls out film critic's 'harsh' review of 'Freakier Friday'
Jamie Lee Curtis is slamming a negative review of her new movie "Freakier Friday." After Time magazine posted an Instagram caption with its film critic Stephanie Zacharek's take on the beloved 2003 film's sequel (in theaters now), the Oscar winner slammed the reviewer's opinion. The Aug. 8 caption said Zacharek wrote that "no one, as far as we know, actually asked Disney for a sequel to 2003's buoyant, surprisingly unsyrupy generation-gap comedy 'Freaky Friday.'" In response, Curtis commented that the review "SEEMS a TAD HARSH. SOME people LOVE it. Me being one." " "I picked up the phone and called (Disney CEO) Bob Iger and said, 'I'm just letting you know I've been around the world and the only thing people want to know is when is there a "Freaky Friday" (sequel) and Lindsay is old enough to have a 15-year-old,'" Curtis revealed.
