Knights edge Kraken, close in on Pacific Division title
Ivan Barbashev and William Karlsson scored for Vegas (48-22-9, 105 points), which maintained a six-point lead over the second-place Los Angeles Kings in the Pacific Division.
The Golden Knights can clinch their fourth division title in eight seasons with a regulation win over the visiting Nashville Predators on Saturday night or a regulation loss by the Kings to the visiting Colorado Avalanche on Saturday afternoon.
Jared McCann scored and Joey Daccord finished with 23 saves for Seattle (34-40-6, 74 points), which lost its second straight game to finish 3-2 on its five-game road trip.
Vegas took a 1-0 lead at the 6:58 mark of the first period when Barbashev scooped up a loose puck by the edge of the left circle and snapped a wrist shot past Daccord's blocker side.
The Golden Knights increased the lead to 2-0 eight minutes into the second period when Reilly Smith hit Karlsson with a drop pass in the left circle and Karlsson then ripped a wrist shot over Daccord's left shoulder.
Seattle cut the lead to 2-1 late in the second period when McCann, stationed by the right post, slid in a rebound of a Jordan Eberle shot that caromed across the crease off the left post.
The Kraken pulled Daccord for an extra attacker with 1:57 remaining and had a chance to tie it with 19 seconds left but defenseman Brayden McNabb made a diving save to turn away Brandon Montour's jam try by the right post to seal the victory.
Vegas played its second straight game without leading scorer Jack Eichel, who is sidelined with an upper-body injury.

After the game, he shared horrific messages sent to himself and his girlfriend. He added that the death threats in question were tied to sports betting. The poster added, 'Your c**t wife/gf dying would be awesome as well.' At the time of publishing, the account no longer exists. The 32-year-old Saucedo posted the message on X, publicly shaming the fan for their horrific actions. 'I understand wanting me gone after today and this year as a whole,' said Saucedo - who currently has an 11.05 ERA through the season. 'Trust me i want to win just as much as all of you whether im here or not. 'But messaging me this bulls**t and my girlfriend and sending this stuff to not only me but my partner. Tell me I suck all you want that's fine but at some point we gotta get a grip.' His partner, Kelsie Scott, re-posted his message and called the note 'absolutely disgusting'. 'Friendly reminder that athletes are human beings and have real mental health,' Scott wrote. 'Absolutely disgusting what so many of you feel comfortable saying when you've never lived under the daily pressure they do. 'This is never Ok under any circumstance and I hope these words never find someone who can't handle them. I love you @saucey07.' Scott added that they both received other messages which were 'far more graphic' than the one Saucedo posted and that they 'each' had ties back to betting. 'A lot of people have mentioned that those people are most likely gamblers and you are 100% correct,' she wrote. 'Each vile message contain reasoning of losing money based on the game. 'All I can say is – maybe stop gambling money you don't have to lose. Taylor is not a character on your TV, he is a human being and he is by far the most accountable one I know. 'He wears every mistake and every loss and is never satisfied even on his best days. The last things he needs is to come back to hundreds of threats and evil messages. Nor do his teammates or opponents as this is sadly just a part of the territory.' After Saucedo received recommendations to turn off his notifications - including from former Mariners star Mike Camron - the pitcher says he likes the opportunities that social media brings. 'I see a lot of people saying turn off notifications but I'd like to say this, I keep them partially open because I like interacting with fans. Today was an example of going too far,' Saucedo wrote. 'No matter the reason we cannot send this stuff especially to people not involved. I share the same exact love you all do for the Mariners. Ever since I was kid it's the only team I've ever loved. 'I totally understand that there is more good people on the internet then there is bad and if I'm ready to receive the praise then I better welcome the criticism as well. J.T. Realmuto, homer-happy Phillies top Mariners
August 20 - J.T. Realmuto slugged a two-run home run to break an eighth-inning tie as the host Philadelphia Phillies nipped the Seattle Mariners 6-4 on Tuesday. Realmuto finished with two hits and three RBIs, while Kyle Schwarber and Bryson Stott also homered for Philadelphia. Phillies starter Cristopher Sanchez struck out 12 in 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs and six hits, although he did not factor into the decision. Eugenio Suarez went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Seattle, which lost for the sixth time in seven games. Mariners' Victor Robles ejected for throwing bat at Triple-A pitcher
August 18 - Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles was ejected from a Triple-A game on Sunday after throwing his bat at a pitcher who nearly hit him with a fastball. Robles, sidelined since April with a dislocated left shoulder, was on a rehab assignment with Tacoma when he fouled off a high and inside pitch from Las Vegas starter Joey Estes in the third inning. Robles, who already had been hit by pitches three times during the series at Las Vegas, flung his bat toward Estes in frustration and began walking toward the mound. He was immediately ejected by the home plate umpire and had to be restrained by teammates. Robles can expect to receive a suspension for the incident, which concluded with him throwing a box of snacks toward the field before going to the clubhouse. He later apologized on Instagram for letting his emotions get the best of him. "Coming off a long rehab and being away from the game for most of the season has been physically and mentally challenging," Robles said. His glove hand still outstretched, Robles' elbow appeared to make contact with a padded wall and he also got tangled in netting. He was carted off the field. Robles joined the Mariners after being waived by the Washington Nationals during the 2024 season. He served as Seattle's leadoff batter in its first 10 games of this season and was hitting .273 with three doubles, three RBIs, three runs and three stolen bases. Robles has batted .248 in his 617-game career with Washington (2017-24) and Seattle, recording 35 homers, 185 RBIs, 257 runs and 103 stolen bases. He has accrued 79 hit-by-pitches over 2,142 MLB plate appearances -- or one every 27.1 plate appearances.
