Kraken Goaltender Invited To USA's Olympic Orientation Camp

Seattle Kraken goalie, Joey Daccord, has been named one of the four goalies invited to the U.S. Men's Olympic Orientation Camp on August 26-27 in Plymouth, Michigan. The 2-day camp is considered to be a team-building event and the first step to creating a roster for the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympic Games. Along with Daccord, fellow netminder invitees include Connor Hellebuyck (Winnipeg Jets), Jake Oettinger (Dallas Stars), and Jeremy Swayman (Boston Bruins) Daccord recently represented the United States in the 2025 IIHF World Championships where he posted a .919 save percentage in 3 games played, including a shutout against Denmark. Working alongside fellow camp invitee, Jeremy Swayman, the duo helped lead USA to their first World Championship Gold Medal since 1933. A few weeks ago, USA Hockey announced the first six members of the 2026 U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team. Jack Eichel (Vegas Golden Knights), Auston Matthews (Toronto Maple Leafs), Brady Tkachuk (Ottawa Senators), Matthew Tkachuk (Florida Panthers), Quinn Hughes (Vancouver Canucks), and Charlie McAvoy (Boston Bruins). The final 25-man roster is expected to be announced in early January 2026. Daccord's Kraken teammate, Brandon Montour was also invited to his country's Olympic Orientation Camp. He will be representing his home nation of Canada later this month. Knights edge Kraken, close in on Pacific Division title

April 11 - Adin Hill made 24 saves to notch his 31st win of the season and the Vegas Golden Knights took another step closer to a Pacific Division title with a 2-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Thursday night in Las Vegas. Ivan Barbashev and William Karlsson scored for Vegas (48-22-9, 105 points), which maintained a six-point lead over the second-place Los Angeles Kings in the Pacific Division. The Golden Knights can clinch their fourth division title in eight seasons with a regulation win over the visiting Nashville Predators on Saturday night or a regulation loss by the Kings to the visiting Colorado Avalanche on Saturday afternoon. Jared McCann scored and Joey Daccord finished with 23 saves for Seattle (34-40-6, 74 points), which lost its second straight game to finish 3-2 on its five-game road trip. Vegas took a 1-0 lead at the 6:58 mark of the first period when Barbashev scooped up a loose puck by the edge of the left circle and snapped a wrist shot past Daccord's blocker side. The Golden Knights increased the lead to 2-0 eight minutes into the second period when Reilly Smith hit Karlsson with a drop pass in the left circle and Karlsson then ripped a wrist shot over Daccord's left shoulder. Seattle cut the lead to 2-1 late in the second period when McCann, stationed by the right post, slid in a rebound of a Jordan Eberle shot that caromed across the crease off the left post. The Kraken pulled Daccord for an extra attacker with 1:57 remaining and had a chance to tie it with 19 seconds left but defenseman Brayden McNabb made a diving save to turn away Brandon Montour's jam try by the right post to seal the victory. Vegas played its second straight game without leading scorer Jack Eichel, who is sidelined with an upper-body injury. --Field Level Media

Home-ice advantage next goal for Kings as Kraken pay a visit

April 7 - After clinching a playoff berth for a fourth consecutive season, the Los Angeles Kings will focus on nailing down home-ice advantage for the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs when they host the Seattle Kraken on Monday. Los Angeles (44-23-9, 97 points), second in the Pacific Division, holds a four-point edge over the third-place Edmonton Oilers with six games remaining for both teams. Should the Kings hold on to second place, they would host the Oilers in the first round. Los Angeles also has an outside change at catching the first-place Vegas Golden Knights, who stand at 100 points. How important is garnering home ice for the Kings? Well, with a 3-0 win over the Oilers on Saturday afternoon, Los Angeles improved to 29-4-4 at Arena, the fewest home losses in the NHL. Only the Carolina Hurricanes (30-8-1) have won more games on their home ice this season. "We'd certainly like to earn it," Kings coach Jim Hiller said. "For some reason, this year in particular, we've played extremely well here at home, so you'd like to have that advantage. But there's lots of hockey left to play. You can't look past anybody." "There's going to be a time in the playoffs when you've got to win on the road, too," center Anze Kopitar said. "We have confidence in this team. Would it be nice to start at home? Of course. It's something that's there for the taking, but we're going game by game and building our game. When the first game rolls around, we'll be ready." Darcy Kuemper made 27 saves to record his fifth shutout of the season in Saturday's win over Edmonton, which played without injured Connor McDavid and league goal-scoring leader Leon Draisaitl. Kuemper has allowed two or fewer goals in 13 consecutive starts (10-2-1), just the fifth goalie in the NHL's expansion era to accomplish that feat. "He's been stellar for us all year," Kopitar said. "Shutout or not, he gives us a chance every night." Seattle (33-38-6, 72 points), already eliminated from playoff contention, is seventh in the Pacific Division. The Kraken have won two in a row to start a five-game road trip, blanking the Vancouver Canucks 5-0 on Wednesday and following that up with a 5-1 win at San Jose on Saturday. Forward Jared McCann, who has 13 points in his last nine games, hit the 20-goal mark against the Sharks, finishing with two goals and an assist. Joey Daccord, who picked up his second shutout of the season at Vancouver, made 23 saves at San Jose. "I thought early (Daccord), first four minutes of the game, I think there were four Grade-A's and he made some good saves there, and it allowed us to answer back quickly," Kraken coach Dan Bylsma said Saturday. "(Daccord) made some huge saves for us," McCann said. "Give a lot of credit to him." This will be the third of four meetings between the teams. The Kings, behind goals by Adrian Kempe and Quinton Byfield, won the first one 2-1 on Nov. 23 in Los Angeles while the Kraken, behind a hat trick by Jaden Schwartz, won the second meeting 4-2 in Seattle on Jan. 18. They'll also play on April 15 in Seattle.
