Aamir Khan says he was afraid of his short height at the start of his career: ‘Would I even stand a chance?'

Aamir Khan recently opened up about how he was afraid of his short-height at the start of his career and it would make him nervous whether he had a chance to be an actor in Bollywood. Even in the trailer of his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, his character's mother is seen making fun of his height. In a recent interview with Just Too Filmy, the actor was asked if he is comfortable taking jokes on his appearance. He replied, 'Actually, Javed saab once said something about humour that I really agree with. He said a good sense of humour is not just for fun and games, but it actually comes in handy when you're going through difficulties in life. So, if you have a good sense of humour at that time, it's like a shock absorber. I think I've always had that ability, and it's a very important part of the film." He recalled how he was nervous about his height looking at Amitabh Bachchan and others. 'At the beginning of my career, I was very afraid. Amit ji was number one, and he was over six feet tall. Vinod ji, Shatrughan Sinha—all were very tall. So, I was nervous thinking if a short actor like me would even have any chance. But as it turned out, it was fine." Aamir plays an obnoxious basketball coach in Sitaare Zameen Par. The film is a remake of the Spanish film Champions (2018) and a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par (2007). It will be released in theatres on June 20.

'Sitaare Zameen Par: Director R. S. Prasanna reveals his choice; Says, 'Aamir Khan was the only name for the film'

Director R. S. Prasanna's 'Sitaare Zameen Par', starring Aamir Khan, is a Hindi remake of the Spanish film Champions. The emotional sports drama follows a basketball coach training neurodivergent adults. Produced by Aamir Khan, it releases on June 20, promising a heartfelt, inspiring story. R. S. Prasanna, the director behind 'Kalyana Samayal Saadham' and 'Shubh Mangala Zyada Savdhan,' had only one actor in mind when he decided to make a film about Down syndrome—Bollywood's Aamir Khan . Prasanna felt that Aamir was the perfect choice to take on the role and do justice to the film's poignant title, 'Sitaare Zameen Par,' believing no one else could carry the story as effectively. A Magical Journey with Aamir Khan During his conversation with Moneycontrol, Prasanna described working with Aamir Khan as "a magical journey." He said, "Because the second I thought of who should play the role, who should I take the story to, the only person who came to my mind was Mr. Aamir Khan." From Apprehension to Destiny For his third film as a director, Prasanna admits he can hardly believe that he had the chance to work alongside Aamir. Considering his previous recognition came from collaborating with actors like Jitendra Kumar and Ayushmann Khurrana in 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan,' reaching out to a superstar like Aamir Khan was a daring move for him. Prasanna also shared that he felt a mix of apprehension, hope, and nervousness throughout the project. He believes that without Aamir Khan's involvement, the film would not have received the same level of love, sensitivity, and support that Aamir consistently brings to his work. Prasanna described their collaboration as a dream come true, where everything seemed to fall into place perfectly. He expressed a strong belief in destiny, feeling that the film was almost creating itself through the people meant to tell its story, with Aamir serving as the ideal support and platform for the project. Film Details and Release Directed by RS Prasanna and co-produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh , along with ten debutants. The film, a Hindi remake of the Spanish film Champions, is set to release on June 20.
