Red Sox snap six-game slide with rout of Blue Jays
June 28 - Wilyer Abreu hit a three-run home run and Lucas Giolito pitched seven strong innings as the Boston Red Sox ended a six-game losing streak by routing the visiting Toronto Blue Jays 15-1 Saturday.
Abreu's home run came against Toronto starting pitcher Chris Bassitt in the bottom of the first inning. It was his 14th home run of the season.
Giolito (4-1) gave up one run (unearned) on six hits in seven innings. He struck out five.
Ceddanne Rafaela and Romy Gonzalez contributed two-run home runs for the Red Sox, who collected 18 hits in the victory.
Boston rookie Roman Anthony had the first three-hit game of his MLB career. Two of his three hits were doubles. Gonzalez also had three hits.
Abreu added an RBI double in the second inning, when Boston scored three times to take a 6-0 lead. The Red Sox also received a two-run single from Trevor Story in the inning.
Toronto scored in the third, when Addison Barger's single drove in Myles Straw and cut Boston's lead to 6-1.
The Red Sox tacked on three runs in their half of the third to increase their advantage to 9-1. The inning featured a bases-loaded walk to Abraham Toro, a sacrifice fly from Carlos Narvaez and a throwing error on catcher Alejandro Kirk that allowed Anthony to score.
Bassitt (7-4) allowed nine runs (eight earned) on eight hits in two innings.
After Nick Sogard's RBI single drove in Story in the sixth, Rafaela's ninth home run increased Boston's lead to 12-1. Gonzalez produced his third homer of the season in the seventh, when Boston stretched its lead to 14-1.
The Red Sox wrapped up the scoring in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Toro that drove in Jarren Duran.
Boston entered Saturday's matchup having scored four runs in its last three games.

Hendricks gave up one run and five hits over five innings for the Angels. He struck out five and walked none. Kyle Tucker slugs Cubs over Astros
June 29 - Kyle Tucker drilled a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning, the third homer slugged by the Chicago Cubs in that frame en route to a 12-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Saturday in the middle game of a three-game interleague series. Tucker finished 4-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBIs in his second game against his former club. He spent seven seasons with the Astros before his offseason trade to the Cubs, and he made his presence felt as Chicago set up a series rubber match with a dominant performance. A half-inning after Astros rookie Cam Smith, acquired as part of the package that landed Tucker in Chicago, smacked his second home run of the series, the Cubs responded resoundingly to the 2-1 deficit Smith created with his two-run shot off Cubs right-hander Colin Rea (5-3). Astros right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. (1-3) appeared to have steadied the ship following a rocky top of the first when he walked in a run and threw 27 pitches, including 18 for balls. McCullers threw 12 consecutive balls during one stretch in the first inning but retired the Cubs in order in the second and third, and returned for the fourth with a one-run lead in his possession. That lead was short-lived. Michael Busch and Nico Hoerner clubbed back-to-back homers off McCullers to push the Cubs to a 3-2 lead. Spencer Schwellenbach, Braves too strong for Phillies
June 29 - Spencer Schwellenbach set a career high with 12 strikeouts and Sean Murphy hit a grand slam to lead the host Atlanta Braves to a 6-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday to end their three-game losing streak. The win squared the three-game series and evened the season series between the teams at 4-4. Schwellenbach (7-4) pitched seven innings and allowed one run on three hits and one walk. In five career starts against Phillies, Schwellenbach is 3-0 with a 2.01 ERA. The Atlanta bullpen completed the game. Raisel Iglesias struck out two while working a scoreless eighth and Rafael Montero pitched a perfect ninth inning. Murphy's slam, the second of his career, carried 455 feet to left field against reliever Jordan Romano in the seventh inning.
