Showers, storms could threaten Lovin' Life Music Festival
The risk for showers and storms will increase in Charlotte as we approach the weekend and could impact events like the Lovin' Life Music Festival and the Kendrick Lamar concert at Bank of America Stadium.
Lovin' Life Music Fest announces daily schedule for 2025 lineup
Friday's storm chance is isolated with a pop-up shower or storms possible during the afternoon and evening out ahead of a cold front. Fortunately, the day will not be a washout.
The best chance for scattered showers and storms across the area will be Saturday afternoon and evening. Heavy rainfall will be the primary risk with any storms that pass by. However, there's also a low risk for a strong to severe storm, with damaging wind gusts being the biggest concern.

A shower or two could linger early Sunday before the system fully clears our area.
If you plan to be outside this weekend, especially Saturday, you'll want to keep a rain jacket or poncho close by.

FORECAST: Hot and humid weekend
ABOVE: The latest forecast update from Severe Weather Center 9. To stay on top of changing weather conditions, be sure to download our free WSOC-TV weather app. FORECAST: It's a warm and muggy start to our weekend with a few showers pushing through the mountains. It's going to be a hot and mostly dry day overall with temperatures climbing near 90 degrees. Factor in the humidity and it feels more like the mid-90s! We'll keep the chance for a hit or miss storm in the forecast with the heating of the day. A storm complex moving in from the west could also impact our area tonight and bring a chance for a strong to severe storm. However, the risk is low as many models have this activity diving south of I-85. Overall, it's a low risk for storms today, but anything we do see could be strong to severe with damaging wind gusts our highest concern. It's a similar story on Sunday with high heat, humidity, and an isolated strong to severe storm with the heating of the day. This summer-like pattern continues for much of next week as well. >> Channel 9's Weather 24/7 stream has the latest local weather all day, every day. FORECAST: Rainy start to the day
ABOVE: The latest forecast update from Severe Weather Center 9. To stay on top of changing weather conditions, be sure to download our free WSOC-TV weather app. FORECAST: It's a rainy start to the day with steady showers moving in. These will last through about midday before drying this afternoon. Nothing too heavy is expected, but it does make for a messy day. Highs get trimmed back to the mid 70s this afternoon with limited sunshine. Then we deal with the incoming heat and humidity for the weekend. Highs return to near 90 on Friday with plenty of steam to make it feel hotter. Low risk for a brief storm in the afternoon. A slightly better chance for afternoon storms arrives on Saturday as we remain quite hot and humid. Temps will stay well into the 80s with daily storm chances into next week. >> Channel 9's Weather 24/7 stream has the latest local weather all day, every day.
