FORECAST: Afternoon storms roll in ahead of weekend's cold front
ABOVE: The latest forecast update from Severe Weather Center 9. To stay on top of changing weather conditions, be sure to download our free WSOC-TV weather app. FORECAST: Another day of heat and humidity across our area with highs again in the low to mid 90s and a heat index at or above 100°. Scattered downpours fire up again this afternoon and like the last several days will last well into the evening. Then the changes start to come in. A cold front arrives on Friday and while it won't really cool us down just yet, it will provide more of a focus for storms. Best shot for heavy downpours on Friday will be on the south side of the area. We'll still be around 90 tomorrow afternoon and still plenty humid. Cooler air then moves in on Saturday with highs just around 80° and some light showers. Drier air comes in by Sunday and we stay close to 80°. Slightly warmer, but still in the 80s for the first half of next week. >> Channel 9's Weather 24/7 stream has the latest local weather all day, every day. FORECAST: Pop up storms this afternoon
FORECAST: We're drying out from last night's showers, just to rinse and repeat that forecast again! It's going to be hot and humid with highs in the upper 80s, feeling like the low 90s this afternoon. And while the first half of the day is dry, the second half will feature pop-up showers and storm chances again. Similar to the past few days, we'll watch for locally heavy rainfall and flooding issues in areas that storms sit over. Any activity that pops up tonight will slowly clear overnight before we do it again for Father's Day! A similar pattern will continue into next week with temperatures slowly climbing into the low 90s by late week. WATCH ABOVE: The latest forecast update from Severe Weather Center 9. FORECAST: Heat builds throughout the weekend as storm chances linger
FORECAST: We will see off-and-on showers and storms throughout the evening. These rain chances will continue each day this weekend, but the big story will be the heat. It's not too bad today. However, Saturday, Sunday, and the first half of next week will be in the upper 80s. Heat index values are expected to reach the mid-90s. FORECAST: Temperatures expected to reach nearly 90 degrees as heat continues to build
ABOVE: The latest forecast update from Severe Weather Center 9. To stay on top of changing weather conditions, be sure to download our free WSOC-TV weather app. FORECAST: The building of more heat could lead to isolated thunderstorms. Storms are trying to get going, and we will see a few, but not as many as we had yesterday. Meanwhile, rain chances drop off dramatically tomorrow, and that will allow the heat to push us to near 90 degrees. Rain opportunities will pick up again by the end of the week and into the weekend. >> Channel 9's Weather 24/7 stream has the latest local weather all day, every day. FORECAST: Hot and humid weekend
ABOVE: The latest forecast update from Severe Weather Center 9. To stay on top of changing weather conditions, be sure to download our free WSOC-TV weather app. FORECAST: It's a warm and muggy start to our weekend with a few showers pushing through the mountains. It's going to be a hot and mostly dry day overall with temperatures climbing near 90 degrees. Factor in the humidity and it feels more like the mid-90s! We'll keep the chance for a hit or miss storm in the forecast with the heating of the day. A storm complex moving in from the west could also impact our area tonight and bring a chance for a strong to severe storm. However, the risk is low as many models have this activity diving south of I-85. Overall, it's a low risk for storms today, but anything we do see could be strong to severe with damaging wind gusts our highest concern. It's a similar story on Sunday with high heat, humidity, and an isolated strong to severe storm with the heating of the day. This summer-like pattern continues for much of next week as well. >> Channel 9's Weather 24/7 stream has the latest local weather all day, every day.
