EQT to Report Q2 Earnings: Here's What You Need to Know
In the last reported quarter, its adjusted earnings of $1.18 cents per share beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.02, primarily driven by higher sales volume and increased average realized prices. (Find the latest EPS estimates and surprises on Zacks Earnings Calendar.)
Earnings surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate in each of the trailing four quarters, with the average surprise being 62.9%. This is depicted in the graph below:
Estimate Trend
The Zacks Consensus Estimate for second-quarter earnings per share of 45 cents has witnessed one downward revision and no upward revision in the past seven days. The estimated figure suggests an improvement of 662.5% from the prior-year reported number.
The Zacks Consensus Estimate for revenues of $1.81 billion indicates a 52.97% increase from the year-ago recorded figure.
Factors to Consider
EQT is the largest producer of natural gas in the United States, with core operations in the Appalachian Basin. Per the data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration ('EIA'), the average Henry Hub Natural Gas Spot prices for April, May and June of this year were $3.42, $3.12, and $3.02 per million Btu, respectively, compared with $1.60, $2.12, and $2.54 per million Btu in the previous year.
Although gas prices were favorable, EQT's strategic decision to limit hedging to just 50% of output has left it more exposed to spot price volatility, which might not favor the company this quarter. EQT also continues to face pipeline bottlenecks in the Appalachian region, thereby constraining its ability to capitalize on more favorable pricing in downstream markets. Additionally, although the Olympus acquisition modestly boosted volumes, associated integration and transition costs likely weighed on margins.
These factors are anticipated to have affected the company's financial performance in the quarter.

Large picket lines at Pearson Airport as Air Canada flight attendants defy Ottawa's back-to-work order
CP24's Andrew Brennan with the latest details from the scene Large picket lines have erupted at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Sunday as the union representing Air Canada flight attendants says they will 'remain on strike' and defy Ottawa's back-to-work order. The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) called the order 'unconstitutional' and urged Air Canada to return to the bargaining table to negotiate a 'fair deal.' The defiance comes hours after Air Canada announced plans to gradually resume flights on Sunday evening, signalling more days of turmoil ahead for travellers. As of 10:30 a.m. ET, hundreds of CUPE members gathered outside Toronto's Pearson Airport, waving signs and chanting, 'Hey, hey, ho, ho, unpaid work has got to go.' The picket lines underscored the union's demand for higher wages and compensation for unpaid time worked during ground delays — issues that CUPE says have been ignored through more than a decade of contracts. Back-to-work order 'ripped up' Speaking at the protest, Wesley Lesosky, president of the Air Canada Component of CUPE, confirmed that the union rejected the government's order. Wesley Lesosky Wesley Lesosky, president of the Air Canada Component of CUPE speaks to CP24 on Sunday August 17, 2025 (CP24 photo). 'I sent them back a video of it being ripped up,' he said, referring to the back-to-work order. He stressed that negotiations with Air Canada remain at a standstill until a contract is ratified, emphasizing the union's commitment to securing a collective agreement after eight months of bargaining. 'Air Canada needs to see that all these people are standing behind their union. Air Canada needs to understand that we need a collective agreement,' Lesosky said. 'Fully supported on all angles' Despite the risks of prolonging the strike and any potential ramifications, Lesosky insisted that members are united and CUPE's national leadership are firmly behind the walkout. 'CUPE National stepped up to the plate and fully support us here. So we feel fully supported on all angles, all avenues,' he said. This is a breaking news story, more details to come...

Air Canada flight cancellations continue at Vancouver airport
Passengers use a kiosk to check in for an Air Canada flight at Vancouver International Airport, in Richmond, B.C., on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025. Air Canada is preparing to gradually suspend flights ahead of a potential work stoppage on Saturday. The airline said the first flights will be cancelled Thursday, with more on Friday and a complete cessation of flying by Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge by the weekend if it doesn't reach a last-minute deal with the flight attendants' union. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darryl Dyck Dozens of Air Canada flights into and out of Vancouver are cancelled Sunday and would-be travellers are being told not to come to the airport unless they have a confirmed itinerary. A statement from Vancouver International airport said Air Canada is working on a plan to resume operations amid a labour dispute between the airline and the union representing flight attendants. 'We anticipate a full return of flight schedules at YVR to take several days with the full network gradually returning to service,' an update to the airport's website Sunday morning said. 'YVR continues to have increased terminal staffing to assist travellers who are in the terminal, although the best source for up-to-date flight information is Air Canada directly.' The federal government has intervened in the labour dispute, imposing a back-to-work order that comes into effect at 11 a.m. Sunday However, the union said its members plan to defy the order and remain on strike.
