Disturbing moment Walmart aisle goes up in smoke after being set ablaze 'by 10 year-old boy'
Shocking footage showed the flames rapidly growing inside the store located in Franklin - about 20 minutes outside of Milwaukee - on Monday.
First responders arrived on scene shortly before 9pm to discover heavy plumes of smoke rising from the building.
The building's automatic sprinkler system went off and assisted in controlling the blaze, according to the Franklin Fire Department.
This allowed for the safe evacuation of all store patrons and employees, and no injuries were reported.
Investigators have not revealed how the fire started, but police took a 10-year-old boy from Milwaukee into custody for questioning.
'Arson charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County Juvenile Justice Center as a result of the investigation,' the Franklin Police Department said.
While the building is still being assessed, officials believe millions of dollars in damage was done.
'Preliminary damage estimates are still being evaluated, however, extensive smoke damage was noted throughout the structure resulting in the loss of merchandise estimated to be several million dollars,' the Franklin Fire Department said.
The store's Facebook page posted, 'Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we will be closed until further notice.'
A Walmart spokesperson told DailyMail.com they are directing customers with pharmacy needs to their 27th Street Store location in Milwaukee.
April King, a merchandising contractor at the store, told Fox 6 she believes the fire was in the party supplies aisle.
'That was like, the party aisle. What's going to set fire there?' I was shocked, honestly. Because it's like, you know, I've never seen a random fire like that in a place you wouldn't associate with a fire,' King said.
'Customers are impacted and employees at Walmart are impacted because they can't work. So yeah, it is a huge impact to the community, definitely.'
She was shocked to learn such a young boy had been taken into custody for starting the fire.
'I don't understand how a 10-year-old could even, one, think to do that and then how did he get the equipment to do that,' King said.
Local Walmart patrons were shocked and saddened to learn about the fire.
'For me, It's concerning how that fire got that large,' customer Anthony Tischer told TMJ4.
Tischer's fiancée, Kassandra Helsick, said she was worried the fire could be part of a greater trend going on across the country.
'What are these kids getting into,' Helsick asked. 'It causes panic. Nobody needs that.'

Coroner issues warning over unregulated e-bike batteries after man's death in house fire
A coroner has warned that batteries sold on online market places for e-bike conversions pose a significant and growing risk after a man died in a fire thought to be linked to one left charging. Mohsin Janjua, 28, died after his converted e-bike caught alight while charging overnight at his Bradford home. Martin Fleming, senior coroner for West Yorkshire Western, is asking the government to reassess the law on sales of lithium-ion batteries used to convert bikes into e-bikes. Following an inquest into Mr Janjua's death, the coroner said it was "more likely than not that the fire was caused by a catastrophic failure" of the battery he had bought from a site on eBay. Mr Janjua converted his bike using an electric motor in 2022, and replaced the motor with a 52-volt battery a week before the fatal fire in December 2023. After his death, investigators made test purchases and found that the test-purchase battery and charger, thought to have emanated from China, did not conform to UK safety standards and regulations. Although the battery found after the fire showed similarities with the test purchase, the extent of its damage prevented further identification. The coroner said in a report to the government Office for Product Safety and Standards: 'At the moment it is my understanding that online market places disclaim responsibility for the safety of third-party goods, so I ask that you give consideration to the appropriateness of regulations to make online marketplaces jointly responsible for ensuring the safety and legal compliances of products sold on their sites.' It is the fifth such report on prevention of deaths surrounding lithium-ion batteries in electrically powered bikes and converted or modified devices. Luke Osborne, technical director of charity Electrical Safety First said: 'Substandard batteries sold freely via online marketplaces pose a life-threatening risk to the public. 'The fires that may result when these devices fail can be catastrophic, releasing toxic gases and reaching temperatures of over 600C.' The government is planning a consultation on online marketplaces and dangerous goods sold on them. The charity is calling for the introduction of third-party certification for e-bikes and their batteries, to reduce the risk of substandard devices being sold, and is also calling for stricter rules on conversion kits for e-bikes.

Stoke Newington murder victim named
The victim of a fatal shooting in north London has been named by police. A murder investigation was launched after Erdal Ozmen, 45, was killed in Stoke Newington, the Metropolitan Police said. He was found with gunshot injuries by officers who were called to an address in Dynevor Road on Tuesday at 12.18am. The father-of-one was 'deeply loved by his family' detectives said on Wednesday as they appealed for witnesses to help find his killer. Residents said they woke to the sounds of gunshots. Mr Ozmen was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives say the motive for the murder remains unclear. No arrests have been made. Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, who is leading the investigation, said: 'We continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward following the fatal shooting of Erdal. 'He was a father-of-one and was deeply loved by his family. 'Today, we are asking the public for assistance. Were you in the Dynevor Road area late on Monday night into early Tuesday morning? Did you see anyone acting out of the ordinary? 'Did you hear anything at all which perhaps seemed unusual – maybe people shouting, or a loud vehicle? 'The smallest piece of information could play a significant role in our investigation.' A post-mortem examination has not yet been carried out. Mr Ozmen's family are being supported by specialist officers. Liza Dodds, 58, a youth worker who lives opposite Dynevor Road, said: 'My husband woke up and said there was gunshots. The instant reaction was 'how do you know?' 'We both got up and had a look. A police officer was doing CPR where the person fell. It seemed like they were going forever.' Another resident said: 'I heard a few gunshots and the first thing I thought was that it was fireworks, because you don't expect it to be a gun. 'I was trying to sleep but then later I heard sirens from the police cars.' One resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said: 'We were out when it happened so we didn't hear or see anything. 'But when we came back at around 1am, the whole area was cordoned off and the police officers told us that it will be a crime scene for a couple of days.' Forensic officers in scrubs and masks were at the scene on Tuesday afternoon, alongside several police officers.
