Rajasthan Deputy CM condoles Gujarat plane crash incident
Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], June 12 (ANI): Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister, Diya Kumari, has condoled the tragic plane crash, with 242 passengers on board, near the Ahmedabad airport in Gujarat on Thursday.
Expressing sadness over the incident in a post on X, she also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
'The news of the crash of the Air India passenger plane in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is extremely sad and heartbreaking. I express my deepest condolences to all the passengers, pilots and crew travelling in the plane. May God grant speedy recovery to the injured,' her post read.

Earlier today, Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and also External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, also condoled the tragedy and prayed for the recovery of the injured.
'The news of many people being killed in the plane crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is extremely sad. I pray to God to give strength to the bereaved families to bear the unbearable pain and to provide speedy recovery to the injured,' his post on X read.
Following the crash, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu are en route to Gujarat to assess the on-ground situation after the plane crashed near the city's airport.

According to the airline's statement, the Boeing 787-8 aircraft, operating as Flight AI-171, departed from Ahmedabad at 1:38 pm IST with 242 people on board, including crew.
The aircraft was under the command of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, an LTC with 8,200 hours of flying experience. He was assisted by First Officer Clive Kundar, who had 1,100 hours of flying experience, according to an official.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu and Home Minister Amit Shah and took stock of the crash incident. The Civil Aviation Minister informed the Prime Minister that he was rushing to Ahmedabad to oversee rescue and relief operations on the ground. PM Modi has directed the Minister to ensure all necessary support is extended immediately and asked to be kept regularly updated on the situation, they said. (ANI)

Frequent power disruptions add to heatwave woes in city
Lucknow: As Lucknow swelters, residents were found grappling with frequent power outages, compounding the misery of a relentless heatwave. From Fazullaganj to Alambagh, complaints of disrupted electricity supply, unresponsive helplines, and low voltage echo across the city, leaving families struggling with basic needs. In Keshav Nagar 1, Fazullaganj, a resident had to spend an entire night without power, calling it "extremely uncomfortable". Farhat Hussain reported a nearly three-hour outage, with customer care calls disconnected without resolution. Sachin Yadav in Faizullaganj 1's Basant Vihar Colony noted night cuts lasting over an hour for five days, with the 1912 helpline perpetually busy. Unable to connect to the helpline, few residents opted for social media to raise their voice. A user of X, who identified himself as Shivansh Saxena tweeted around 2.30 pm about a power outage in Jankipuram sector-D. Similar power outage was reported by another X user in the Amrai area of MVVNL's Gomtinagar zone jurisdiction. In Lucknow Central zone, a Rajajipuram resident Pooja Shukla highlighted a cascading crisis: no electricity means no water supply, leaving her family in a severe shortage. In Alambagh, Ayushi Singh, a working professional, struggled to cook and sleep due to night outages, affecting her work performance. Neetu Mishra in Alambagh Saketpuri described daily cuts, with power flickering every 15-30 minutes, calling it a "troubling routine." While in Amausi zone, Diksha Gaur from Aashiana Sector M complained about low voltage, which rendered fans and ACs useless. According to MVVNL official source, "All field units are working round the clock to attend any power outage complaint instantly. In fact, the discom is also using social media tools to immediately post updates about the estimated time for resolving the power outage and attach images of the on-duty team which gives a sense of assurance to power consumers." The source added, "During summer the power demand is at peak. The system breaks down due to overload, therefore to tackle such situations, the field team is always on standby, to repair faults." Dahod medicos return home after plane crash at hostel
Vadodara: Students from Dahod district studying at BJ Medical College (BJMC) returned home after the plane crashed into hostel buildings on the campus. Some had left the hostel mess after lunch just before the accident. According to officials on Friday, the crash killed three medical students and the wife of a medical student. The students who survived included those from Dahod, who headed home. Sources said that only interns and postgraduate students from Dahod are now staying at the college. Bhavya Dhanka, an MBBS student from Dahod, told mediapersons that they were in their rooms when they heard the loud sound of a plane. They thought it was a plane flying low and did not imagine it would crash. Dhanka said they had gone to the same mess where the plane struck for lunch. "We finished lunch and went to our rooms. We were in our rooms when the crash happened and rushed to the site," he said. Dhanka added that students started rushing injured people to the hospital on whatever vehicle they found. Some were even taken to the hospital on two-wheelers. "I took some injured people to hospital in my car," he said. Students got mattresses from their rooms and took the injured to hospital on these mattresses. Nine MBBS students returned to Dahod on Friday and more are likely to return soon.
