MANCHESTER UNITED legend Wayne Rooney has landed a new job which will see him work alongside a fellow Premier League icon.

The Red Devils icon managed just five wins in 25 games over a seven-month period.
And it marked another underwhelming dugout performance following spells at Derby, DC United and Birmingham.
Rooney has since enjoyed spending time as a pundit, working on Amazon Prime while featuring on the Stick to Football podcast.
He also captained and managed England at Soccer Aid earlier this month, scoring the fastest goal in the charity match's history before ex-United teammate Carlos Tevez banged in four to hand victory to a World XI.
However, Rooney is now truly back in the beautiful game after landing a new job.
But it is not another managerial stint for England's former captain.
Instead, Rooney has linked up with a luxury training camp for children called Football Escapes.
The company organises half-term retreats for kids and their parents in exotic locations like Cyprus, Portugal and the Maldives.

The children get to spend their time playing football and learning from legends like Rooney.
While parents have plenty of free time to rest and relax by the pool.

Now, Rooney will get his boots back on for an October retreat to Dubai, having previously worked for them during an event in February.
He will teach aspiring youngsters the ropes alongside a fellow Premier League icon in ex-Tottenham and England defender Michael Dawson.
But training with Rooney doesn't come cheap.
Football Escapes are advertising a seven-day stay for a family of four at the 5-star Jumeirah Beach Hotel for £8499 on their website – and that's BEFORE flights.
A statement read: 'By popular demand, Wayne Rooney will be returning to Dubai, alongside Michael Dawson, for a week of Football Escapes magic this October Half Term, 20th - 24th October 2025.
'The kids will train daily, in their personalised kit, with our ambassadors and UEFA-qualified coaches, building their confidence and their skills with coaching from none other than Wayne Rooney.
'Including daily coaching from Wayne Rooney, a signed shirt, our incredible Parents' Match, a medals ceremony to round off the week, and of course a stay for you and your family at the world class Jumeirah Beach Hotel Resort in Dubai.'

Dave Challinor wants Stockport to be rewarded in Carabao Cup draw

Second-half headers from Kyle Wootton and Nathan Lowe plus Lewis Fiorini's strike secured County victory at Edgeley Park to dump out the Railwaymen, whose late consolation came from Emre Tezgel. Challinor will have a keen eye on Wednesday's draw, which includes Manchester United among the 11 Premier League clubs entering the competition. He said: 'The second-half performance was much better and had much more intent about us. I was disappointed with our first half because of what we wanted the players to do and they didn't do that. 'It was too placid in the first half that we played. I'm delighted to win, that's the aim and hence why we picked the team that we did. Tonight was about progressing and we've done that and hopefully we get rewarded for that with a nice draw.' Lee Bell felt his Crewe side were undone by poor defending for Stockport's first two goals. He said: 'We're obviously disappointed to be knocked out of a competition. We knew we were going to be understrength and then you get here and see the players they had on the team sheet. 'But I think shape-wise and the way we tried to play was good. I've just said to the players if we want to achieve anything, you've got to stop crosses coming into your box and you've got to mark inside the box, because ultimately those two goals have cost us.'

Donnarumma ‘disappointed and disheartened' at PSG Super Cup squad omission

Italy international Donnarumma was an eye-catching omission from PSG's Super Cup squad for Wednesday's fixture with Tottenham in his home country. Big-money summer arrival Lucas Chevalier has been included and is set to make his PSG debut at Stadio Friuli after Luis Enrique confirmed he wanted a goalkeeper profile that was 'different' to Donnarumma. — GIANLUIGI DONNARUMMA (@donnarumma) August 12, 2025 Italy captain Donnarumma has since taken to Instagram to criticise the decision and expressed his desire to say goodbye 'in the eyes one more time' to the PSG supporters at Parc des Princes. 'To the special Paris fans, from the first day I arrived, I gave everything – on and off the pitch – to earn my place and defend the goal of Paris St Germain,' Donnarumma said. 'Unfortunately, someone has decided that I can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the team's success, I am disappointed and disheartened. 'I hope to have the opportunity to look the fans at the Parc des Princes in the eyes one more time and say goodbye as it should be done. 'If that doesn't happen, I want you to know that your support and affection mean the world to me and I will never forget it. I will always carry with me the memory of all the emotions, the magical nights and of you, who made me feel at home. 'To my team-mates – my second family – thank you for every battle, every laugh, every moment we shared. You will always be my brothers. 'Playing for this club and living in this city has been an immense honour. Thank you, Paris.' Luis Enrique explained his decision in Udine, saying: 'These are always difficult decisions to make. 'I can definitely talk about Gigio, because he's one of the best players in his position, without a doubt. He's even better as a person. 'We're looking for a goalkeeping profile that is different to Donnarumma. It's always difficult to make the decision in these kinds of situations.' Luis Enrique also revealed Tottenham were once an option for him and admitted they have a physical advantage on Wednesday. The 55-year-old was linked with the vacancy at Spurs after Antonio Conte left in 2023, but Ange Postecoglou was eventually hired and Luis Enrique subsequently took over PSG in a sliding doors moment for both men. Postecoglou was able to mastermind Europa League success in May and end Tottenham's 17-year trophy drought, whilst Luis Enrique guided PSG to the holy grail of a maiden Champions League title. The pair will not face each other in Italy after Spurs ruthlessly discarded with Postecoglou following a poor domestic campaign and the appointment of Thomas Frank – alongside the fact they have been in pre-season training since early July, while PSG only returned last Wednesday after their Club World Cup exploits – gives the English outfit a slight edge, according to Luis Enrique. 'Well, I have to say that it is difficult because they changed recently the manager, new manager, some new players, they play a few friendly matches before tomorrow's match and I don't know what kind of game they are going to plan,' Luis Enrique acknowledged. 'We are going to try to compete at our best.' On Spurs' links, Luis Enrique added: 'Well, there were some options for me in the last six months before I came to Paris and Tottenham was one of them.'
