Money magazine's 2025 list of 'The Best Colleges in America' — which rates schools on quality of education, affordability and student outcomes — favored UP with a stellar 4.5-star rating.
In the Northwest, UP is one of four institutions—and one of two private universities—to receive Money 's 4.5-star rating. UP is one of only two Catholic universities in the West to reach the 4.5-star threshold.
UP also made The Princeton Review 's annual list of 'The Best 391 Colleges,' earning special recognition as a Best Value College while ranking among the top institutions in the West.
'The sense of community here is unmatched,' wrote one University of Portland student in The Princeton Review rating survey. According to the book's editors, others touted 'phenomenal' professors, smaller class sizes, a 'strong culture of spirituality,' and the 'diverse set of minds' students encounter throughout campus.
Positive sentiments like these attracted UP's incoming class of first year students to Portland. They hail from 35 U.S. states and 15 countries—boasting a 3.71 average unweighted GPA. Nearly 40 percent identify as Catholic, and 45 percent are First Generation college students.
' Money and The Princeton Review rightly recognize something about University of Portland that has been true for nearly 125 years—we offer a singularly transformational experience,' said University President Robert D. Kelly. ' We are grateful that our superb quality, value and outcomes are once again being celebrated for all to see.'
'While these rankings do not tell the full story,' Dr. Kelly added, 'they are nevertheless a fitting testament to the extraordinary impact of a University of Portland education.'
Money, the financial advice service, showcased 732 top colleges and universities, ranking each from 2 to 5 stars. UP was among 111 private schools nationwide to meet the 4.5-star standard. Basing its analysis on top value colleges, cost of attendance, financial aid and more, Money highlighted UP's professional schools, liberal arts majors, special-interest clubs and its 'robust study abroad program.'
In the Student Success category, Money emphasized UP's 80 percent graduation rate and the fact that Pilot grads typically earn $82,800 in early career annual salary.

Hermès Authentication Service: Ensuring Authentic Luxury

In the world of luxury fashion Hermès Authentication Service stands out as a symbol of timeless elegance, superior craftsmanship, and exclusivity. Owning a Hermès item—whether it's a Birkin bag, Kelly bag, scarf, or watch—is not just about having a high-end product; it's about possessing a piece of art with an impeccable heritage. However, the luxury market is fraught with counterfeit products that mimic the style and branding of Hermès, making authentication services vital for buyers, sellers, and collectors alike. In this article, we explore the significance of Hermès authentication services and what makes them indispensable in today's luxury marketplace. Luxury brands like Hermès are frequent targets for counterfeiters due to their high resale value and iconic status. As the market for pre-owned luxury goods grows, so does the risk of acquiring fake products. Counterfeit Hermès items range from poorly made knock-offs to highly sophisticated replicas that can deceive even seasoned buyers. This increasing prevalence of fakes makes it essential to verify the authenticity of any Hermès product before purchase or sale. Hermès Authentication Service refers to the professional process of verifying whether a Hermès item is genuine or counterfeit. This service is often provided by experts who specialize in Hermès products and have extensive knowledge of the brand's craftsmanship, materials, hardware, stitching techniques, serial numbers, date stamps, and other distinguishing characteristics. The goal is to provide buyers and sellers with confidence in the authenticity and provenance of their Hermès pieces. While some buyers may feel confident in identifying authentic Hermès items themselves, the nuances involved often require expert knowledge. Authentic Hermès products feature unique craftsmanship details that counterfeiters may overlook or poorly replicate. For example, the stitching on a genuine Birkin bag is perfectly aligned, using a saddle stitch technique done by hand. The leather quality, color consistency, hardware engravings, and even the font on Hermès stamps are precise and consistent across authentic items. Professional authenticators can detect subtle discrepancies that reveal counterfeit goods, protecting customers from fraudulent transactions. This expertise also safeguards sellers by proving the legitimacy of their products, enhancing resale value, and building buyer trust. Authentication services typically follow a thorough multi-step process:Visual Inspection: Experts examine the item closely, assessing leather texture, stitching quality, logo placement, hardware finish, and and Serial Code Verification: Hermès items often have date codes or blind stamps that can be cross-referenced with official brand data. Authenticators verify these codes to confirm manufacturing dates and Analysis: The type and quality of leather or fabric used are uses specific leathers such as Togo, Clemence, Epsom, and exotic skins, all with unique Examination: Authentic Hermès hardware is crafted from precious metals or high-quality materials. Each piece often bears engraving or brand-specific with Reference Pieces: Authenticators compare the item with known authentic examples from trusted sources or databases. Benefits of Using Hermès Authentication Services For buyers, authentication services offer peace of mind when purchasing pre-owned Hermès goods from private sellers, online marketplaces, or luxury consignment stores. It ensures that the significant investment they are making is protected and justified. For sellers, having an authenticated product enhances credibility and allows them to command higher prices. It also reduces the risk of disputes and returns from buyers questioning the item's authenticity. Collectors and enthusiasts benefit from authentication by maintaining the integrity of their collections and ensuring their investments retain value over time. Not all authentication services are created equal. When selecting a Hermès authentication service, it's important to choose a reputable company or expert with proven experience and positive customer feedback. Look for services that provide detailed reports, clear photographs, and guarantees or refunds in case of misidentification. Many luxury consignment platforms, specialized boutiques, and independent authenticators offer Hermès authentication. Some even provide online authentication through high-quality photos, while others require physical inspection of the item. Technology is playing an increasing role in the authentication of luxury goods. Artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms can analyze minute details in product photos to detect inconsistencies that human eyes might miss. Blockchain technology is also being explored to create immutable records of authenticity for luxury items. Hermès itself has taken steps to combat counterfeiting by introducing security features and unique identifiers on its products, which may eventually integrate with authentication services for more seamless verification. Hermès Authentication Service products are not just luxury items—they are investments that can appreciate over time if well cared for and authenticated. Using a reliable Hermès authentication service is essential for anyone involved in buying, selling, or collecting these coveted pieces. Authentication protects against fraud, preserves brand integrity, and helps maintain the value of Hermès goods for years to com TIME BUSINESS NEWS

I Kept $10,000 in a Regular Savings Account for 6 Years — Here's How Much Money I Lost

You know that warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you see money sitting safely in your savings account? Hate to break it to you — but that comfort might be costing you. Consider This: Find Out: While it feels like you're doing the responsible thing by letting your cash chill in a regular savings account, the truth is it's quietly losing value over time. GOBankingRates spoke with Seymen Usta, CEO and interior design specialist of Seus Lighting, on why your 'safe' money might not be so safe after all. Here's what he had to share. Earning Under $20 in Interest Over 6 Years 'For many years, I kept my savings account like a bunker — secure, untouchable and reassuring,' said Usta. He parked $10,000 in a regular savings account and did nothing with it for six years, thinking he was making a wise, prudent decision. The bank was paying 0.03% interest annually, which seemed better than the nothing he would have got for no action. Read More: 'The reality was cruel: My account earned me under $20 in interest over those six years,' Usta revealed. And during that time, following inflation, the purchasing power of his cash was quietly eaten away year after year. By the time the dust settled, when assessing the inflation, that original $10,000 had the purchasing power of approximately $8,200. Squandered Opportunity Also painful was all the opportunity Usta said he squandered. 'Had I put that same amount into a simple S&P 500 index fund, that averaged around 10% each year, I would have walked away with more than $18,000,' Usta said. So, in truth, from a missed opportunity perspective, he said he lost almost $8,000. Not due to making a bad investment, but rather because he didn't invest at all. 'Worse still, it isn't even speculative — it was cash just lying dormant waiting for something to do,' Usta added. Now, He Follows a Simple Framework These days, Usta follows a simple framework that helps his money serve actual goals. 'For immediate needs or emergencies, I use a high-yield savings account — still safe, but with better returns,' he noted. For short- and medium-term goals, he opts for low-risk options like money market funds or short-term bond ETFs. And, for anything he won't need access to for three or more years, he puts into index funds with automatic rebalancing. 'It's nothing fancy. It's just good financial habits,' Usta said. 'I also now do a financial audit quarterly and, honestly, all it takes is 15 minutes of asking, 'Is this money growing, protecting, or just sitting?'' He said this one single question has moved him to putting thousands of dollars in smarter places. 'Most importantly, I've stopped idolizing liquidity at the expense of growth,' Usta explained. 'I now tell people: A savings account is a great parking spot, but it isn't a home. Move your money purposefully, or you will pay the price quietly.' A young Australian worker has revealed how simple savings habits can help you amass a huge fortune. The 22-year-old was stopped on the streets of Sydney recently and was candidly asked how much money she had in her bank account. She revealed she had around $70,000 waiting to be used eventually to buy a home one day. The woman credited this to a trick she learned from her parents a few years earlier. "From when I got my first job, I used to always transfer $100 into a savings account," she told property buying app Coposit. According to SEEK, the annual pre-tax salary of a Sydney bartender is $70,000-$75,000, or $1,346-$1442 per week. That means she's dedicating more than a third of her salary to her bartender admitted that when she turned 18, she was spending much more of her pay on going out and having fun, but she's been able to rein that in to keep herself on track. When her parents encouraged her to squirrel away a decent chunk of cash every time she got paid, she was initially sceptical. "I was like, Why should I do this?" she said in the TikTok video. "But now I don't regret it, which is good. I see the positive and the benefit. "Definitely always put some money to savings on a rainy day because you never know what's gonna happen." According to Westpac customer data, the average 18- to 24-year-old has an average balance of $13,069 in their savings accounts, with the median amount being $2,410. $70,000 in the bank, but still worried about property prices The 22-year-old has a healthy amount in her savings account, and being a first-home buyer, she could purchase something worth more than $1 million. While she would love to buy something at the moment, she said it's currently unobtainable with just her income. "If I have, like, a partner, so maybe [the mortgage] can be split, but if you're solo, individual, probably not," she said. The bartender hopes that she could enter the property market by the time she's 25, which would be fairly impressive. According to the UNSW, the average age for Aussies to buy their first home is 36. One person was shocked that even with $70,000 ready to buy a home, it's still not considered enough. "This is such a dystopia we live in. She's amazing for saving and planning for the future but have to rely on a partner to get a place before 30 is just exhausting. We used to get a house car partner kids etc before 25. It's not possible for the average person today," one user said. Cutting out 'unnecessary' spending can help you save thousands The bartender said she tries to keep her spending to an absolute minimum to ensure she keeps her savings in a good shape. 'I think it's just something you can get addicted to [and] trapped into. It's something I hear of people spending heaps and heaps of money on. I think it's a waste personally.' Despite only just entering his 20s, he has managed to save $100,000. The Canberran credited part of that to living at home, however, he still pays rent to his family.
