Qatar Insurance Group (QIC) has achieved the prestigious (p) 'AAA' ESG rating from MSCI ESG Research - the highest possible rating under MSCI's globally recognised environmental, social, and governance (ESG) framework.
This exceptional milestone places QIC among the world's top-performing insurers for ESG excellence and governance resilience. It also solidifies QIC's position as the first company in Qatar and the only insurer in the MENA region to receive a provisional ESG 'AAA' rating from MSCI, joining an elite group of property and casualty insurers worldwide to earn this distinction.
Effective as of May 22, 2025, the rating highlights QIC's outstanding performance across key ESG pillars: The company ensures robust privacy and data security through advanced cybersecurity infrastructure, strong data protection measures, and strict regulatory compliance. It prioritises human capital development with inclusive talent strategies, high employee engagement, and effective feedback mechanisms. Additionally, it upholds strong corporate behavior with a culture rooted in ethical integrity, solid anti-corruption frameworks, and a clean governance record.
Salem Al Mannai, CEO of QIC Group, emphasised the company's alignment with the Paris Agreement, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the Qatar Stock Exchange's ESG reporting guidelines, and Qatar Central Bank's directives to advance sustainable finance. He highlighted QIC's role as a regional model for sustainability and governance, crediting Qatar's progressive investment climate and the pivotal role of the Qatar Central Bank in enabling regulatory excellence. 'Al Mannai underscored that ESG at QIC is not just a responsibility but a strategic opportunity to lead with purpose, build trust, and drive sustainable transformation in the financial sector. He added that MSCI's recognition reinforces QIC's commitment to setting new benchmarks and championing sustainable finance across MENA,' he added.
Qatar Insurance Group (QIC) has outperformed both regional and global industry peers with an industry-adjusted ESG score of 9.7, earning a prestigious 'AAA' rating. MSCI ESG Research recognized QIC for its rigorous data privacy protocols aligned with global standards, robust corporate governance led by an independent board, and transparent ESG policies covering its entire investment portfolio. QIC's ethical framework includes strong anti-bribery, anti-money laundering, and whistleblower protections, reinforcing its position as a regional ESG leader.
QIC's sustained ESG excellence is driven by integrated, long-term efforts across operations. The Group maintains an 80 per cent employee engagement score, over 90% retention, and a diverse workforce from 67 nationalities, supported by comprehensive benefits and strong career development.
As a responsible investment pioneer, QIC was the first MENA insurer to disclose ESG risks across its full portfolio and now holds ESG scores nearly double the global industry average. Qatar - The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) Monday edged up nine points, even as the international investors await US inflation data. The real estate, insurance, consumer goods and industrials sectors saw higher than average demand as the 20-stock Qatar Index was up 0.08% to 11,371.49 points, recovering from an intraday low of 11,321 points. The domestic institutions' weakened net profit booking had its influence on the main market, whose year-to-date gains improved marginally to 7.57%. The foreign funds continued to be net buyers but with lesser intensity in the main bourse, whose capitalisation added QR1.62bn or 0.24% to QR677.98bn mainly on small and microcap segments. The local retail investors also continued to be bullish but with lesser vigour in the main market, which saw as many as 0.03mn exchange traded funds (sponsored by AlRayan Bank and Doha Bank) valued at QR0.11mn trade across 16 deals. The foreign individuals were seen net sellers in the main bourse, whose trade turnover and volumes were on the increase. The Islamic index was seen flat vis-à-vis gains in the other indices of the main market, which saw no trading of treasury bills. The Gulf institutions turned net profit takers in the main bourse, which saw no trading of sovereign bonds. The Total Return Index was up 0.08% and the All Share Index by 0.12%, while the All Islamic Index was unchanged in the main market. The realty sector index gained 1.02%, insurance (0.6%), consumer goods and services (0.53%), industrials (0.39%) and banks and financial services (0.1%); while telecom and transport declined 1.24% and 0.32% respectively. Major movers in the main market included Baladna, Ezdan, Mazaya Qatar, Industries Qatar, Gulf International Services, Qatar Electricity and Water, QLM, Salam International Investment and Qatar Insurance. In the junior bourse, Techno Q saw its shares appreciate in value. Nevertheless, about 53% of the traded constituents were in the red with major shakers being Estithmar Holding, Medicare Group, Widam Food, Ooredoo, Mannai Corporation and Qamco. The domestic institutions' net selling decreased substantially to QR3.66mn compared to QR20.97mn the previous day. However, the foreign individuals turned net sellers to the tune of QR2.01mn against net buyers of QR1.43mn on August 10. The Gulf institutions were net sellers to the extent of QR0.51mn compared with net buyers of QR0.7mn on Sunday. The Gulf individual investors' net selling expanded perceptibly to QR0.42mn against QR0.09mn the previous day. The Arab retail investors turned net sellers to the tune of QR0.36mn compared with net buyers of QR0.97mn on August 10. The Arab institutions were net profit takers to the extent of QR0.08mn against no major net exposure on Sunday. The foreign institutions' net buying decreased markedly to QR3.71mn compared to QR12.65mn the previous day. The local individual investors' net buying weakened noticeably to QR3.31mn against QR5.31mn on August 10. The main market saw 39% surge in trade volumes to 333.77mn shares, 32% in value to QR593.4mn and 17% in deals to 21,101. talabat revises GMV and revenue guidance by double-digit points after strong Q2

talabat Holding, the leading on-demand online ordering and delivery platform in the MENA region, revised its guidance upwards for the remainder of the year after posting strong second-quarter and first six months numbers. For Q2 2025, Gross Merchandising Value (GMV) grew 32 per cent versus the prior year to reach US$2.44 billion. On a constant currency basis, GMV grew at a faster rate of 33 per cent. Revenue grew 35 per cent, and 36 per cent on a constant currency basis, to reach US$982 million. Adjusted EBITDA grew 31 per cent to US$166 million, or 6.8 per cent of GMV, while net income grew 33 per cent to US$119 million or 4.9 per cent of GMV. Talabat raises full-year growth forecast For H1 2025, GMV grew 31 per cent to reach US$4.52 billion, while revenue grew 34 per cent to US$1.83 billion. Adjusted EBITDA was up 32 per cent to US$305 million (6.8 per cent of GMV), and net income increased 90 per cent to US$222 million (4.8 per cent of GMV). In a statement, talabat said that demand growth reflected accelerated customer acquisition and increased average order frequency. The strong results were supported by the unwind of Ramadan's impact seen in the first quarter versus the prior-year comparison period. talabat said it was confident of continued growth and has revised guidance upwards for the full year. GMV growth is now expected to be in the 27-29 per cent range on a constant currency basis (previously 17-18 per cent), revenue growth of 29-32 per cent on a constant currency basis (previously 18-20 per cent), adjusted EBITDA margin will be 6.5 per cent (previously 6.5-7.0 per cent), while net income margin will be 5.0 per cent (previously 5.0-5.5 per cent). Tomaso Rodriguez, Chief Executive Officer of talabat, commented: 'We have achieved another strong quarter of financial and operational results, fuelled by significant customer acquisition and increased order frequency. Our ongoing commitment to enhancing the consumer value proposition, expanding our Groceries and Retail vertical and fostering deeper customer loyalty is clearly yielding results. 'We are particularly pleased with the strong uptake of talabat pro, our premium subscription loyalty programme, across all markets, alongside strong growth in demand within our non-GCC markets. 'This growth complements the continued strength of our core GCC markets and the strong performance of our Food vertical. 'The UAE, our largest market, maintained its robust growth trajectory in line with the overall pace of the Group. Kuwait, our most established market, delivered impressive growth of over 20 per cent for both the quarter and the first half of the year. Likewise, our Food vertical grew more than 20 per cent year-on-year, reinforcing its strong contribution to our overall growth. 'With this momentum, we are confident in our outlook and are pleased to raise our full-year guidance across all metrics.' On a normalised basis, adjusting for material non-recurring items to allow for a like-for-like comparison, net income grew 25 per cent to US$116 million, led by strong performances across both GCC markets (UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman) and non-GCC markets (Egypt, Jordan and Iraq), as well as across both the Food and Grocery & Retail verticals. talabat's Adjusted Free Cash Flow reached US$190 million, up 47 per cent YoY, and equivalent to 7.8 per cent of GMV, up from US$129 million from Q1 2024.

This performance was driven by solid contributions across all core segments, reflecting the successful execution of the company's strategy. ADNIC reported a net profit before tax of AED 261.2 million, reflecting an increase of 16.5% compared to the same period in 2024. The company also recorded gross written premiums of AED 5,539.6 million, marking a 25.7% increase year on year. Net Income from Investments: Investment income reached AED 142.4 million, up 19.5% year on year.
