Lil Nas X Reveals The Real Reason He Turned Down A Taylor Swift Collaboration

Yahoo29-03-2025

Lil Nas X is one of the biggest young performers in the world. Thanks to his popular singles like "Call Me By Your Name" and "Old Town Road," the Georgia native has skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard charts on several occasions.
He's also collaborated with many big-name artists, including Billy Ray Cyrus and Jack Harlow. However, there's one global superstar he turned down the chance to work with, and her name is Taylor Swift.
During an interview with E! News, Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, revealed he almost had the chance to make headlines again with a collaboration with Swift. However, according to him, he just couldn't find his groove.
"We were working on something," he said before explaining the "Lavender Haze" singer asked him to "try a verse" on one of her tracks. "But I couldn't catch a vibe for it, so it didn't happen."
Despite that, though, Lil Nas X admitted he's "proud" of Swift, who is arguably one of the most famous faces in the music industry right now. He even praised the 35-year-old for her latest full-length project, "The Tortured Poets Department," which was released in April 2024.
'I love the album. She's been doing her thing. She's at the very tippety top. I'm thankful that she even considered me," he said.
The "Industry Baby" singer didn't stop there, though. He teased that should a collab between them ever come to fruition, music listeners should be ready for "global" domination.
"Tay-tay and Nassy," he joked.
Lil Nas X dropped his second studio album, "Dreamboy," on March 28, 20225. The project features eight songs, including the singles "Need Dat Boy," "Hotbox," and "Lean on My Body."
Although some of the singer's music has rubbed people the wrong way in the past, in this era, Lil Nas X is ready to be "carefree."
'It's gonna be fun. I've always been the girl to rile everybody up. I don't want to do that this time. I want to have fun," he admitted.
Swift isn't the only pop diva from whom Lil Nas X turned down an invite. In October 2022, the Grammy-winner revealed Beyoncé invited him to a party for her critically acclaimed seventh studio album, "RENAISSANCE." However, he had to leave the "Single Ladies" singer in his rearview because of his prior work commitments.
"I think it was on the day of one of the shows, and I was like, 'do I completely leave my fans stranded and don't come to the show to see Beyoncé or not,' but you know I couldn't," he explained. "Some time, though, for sure."
The 25-year-old praised Beyoncé for her project, which has been described as a love letter to the LGBTQ+ community. Lil Nas X admitted that the songs, specifically "CHURCH GIRL" and "HEATED," made him feel "liberated."
He continued: "The overall idea of this super duper pop legend, not even this music legend in general, going into this direction that's not really mainstream at all. I think that's just so big of her. It's liberating."
After his successful first studio album, "Montero," Lil Nas X began partnering with various companies, such as M&M's, and a nonprofit organization called Sing For Hope.
According to the Sing For Hope website, the company strives to bring "hope, healing, and connection" to "community spaces" worldwide, including "hospitals, schools, care facilities, and refugee camps."
"I think my favorite thing about this partnership is that I get to work with a brand that's as legendary as M&Ms and knowing that it also has a cause helping spread music and inspire through connection," Lil Nas explained.
In 2022, the "That's What I Want" singer made waves after he called out the BET Awards for receiving zero nominations despite having chart-topping songs and a No. 2 album.
"thank you bet awards, an outstanding zero nominations again. Black excellence [grateful hands and white heart emoji]," he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
After his comment, users challenged him, saying his style of music wasn't meant for the BET Awards. However, Lil Nas X clapped back, correcting his detractors with facts.
He wrote: "no offense but u are literally of caucasian persuasion and trying to school me on an award show i've watched my entire childhood + it's not the hip hop awards + they have a pop category + ratio."

Glen Powell's Ex Gigi Paris Details What Led to Breakup

Originally appeared on E! Online Glen Powell's ex is not leaving her side of the story unwritten. Nearly two years after the Top Gun: Maverick actor and Sydney Sweeney's infamous will-they-won't-they flirtationship amid filming their romantic comedy Anyone But You, Gigi Paris—who was dating Glen at the time—shared the moment she realized things were not going to work out for them. 'I got a phone call from him right about when I was going to go to Australia to work,' the model said on the Too Much podcast June 10. 'I had my visa, which took me much longer than I anticipated—meanwhile all this s--t was coming out on the internet.' And while Gigi, who didn't reference her ex or Sydney by name during the interview, felt relieved she was finally going to Australia where he was filming the rom-com, Glen felt differently. As she noted of one of their last phone calls, 'He called and said, 'The producers and I have discussed and I think it's best if you don't come to visit.'' More from E! 'I flew across the world to look at him in the face and say, 'I can't do this anymore,'' the 32-year-old said of ending the three-year romance, 'which was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.' Amid the dating rumors that circulated Glen, 36, and his 27-year-old costar—who was engaged to now ex Jonathan Davino at the time—Gigi admitted she felt like she was 'fed to the dogs.' 'I just wanted respect,' she continued. 'Especially if it's gonna be public like, don't make an ass out of me. Don't make a fool out of someone you've been with over three years, talking about forever with. Have some decency. At the end of the day, it was like, 'Well work comes first.' Power to you, that's your priority. I've got to walk away.' Gigi assured, though, that her April 2023 breakup with Glen was not to gain any fame for herself out of the situation. 'It wasn't make-believe and it got to the point where it seemed as though make-believe was more important than the real thing,' she explained. 'It wasn't a way to monetize the breakup, it wasn't a way to twist the story around. I was shattered.' E! News has reached out to Sydney and Glen about Gigi's comments but has not heard back. For his part, while Glen and Sydney admitted to amping up their chemistry for press, the Hit Man star said it was difficult to balance with a breakup. "The only reason it made things harder for me to lean into that stuff was that I was going through a very real breakup amidst a promotional tour,' he told Business Insider in December 2023. 'I was with someone that I really loved and cared about and was trying to kind of make sense of a lot of stuff.' Taylor Swift-themed planetarium show 'Reputation: Under the Stars,' coming to Springfield Museums

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Swifties in western Massachusetts have a new reason to look to the stars. The Springfield Museums has launched 'Reputation: Under the Stars,' a brand-new planetarium show that blends the music of Swift's 2017 album Reputation with dazzling visuals in the historic Seymour Planetarium. Springfield Museums presents 'Swiftie Saturdays' with '1989 Under the Stars' planetarium show Presented Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 4 p.m., the show features the original recordings from Reputation, now owned by Swift herself, accompanied by full-dome immersive effects. The experience is complimentary for museum members and available to other visitors aged 8 and above for an additional $5 with museum admission. 'I love the sound of visitors singing along with the music in Seymour Planetarium and when there's dancing in the aisles!' said Jenny Powers, Director of the Springfield Science Museum and a self-described Swiftie. 'And now, when we license the music, it's the artist who benefits from the songs she created. We're so happy that every version is Taylor's version!' The production follows the success of '1989: Under the Stars,' a similar show that ran in spring 2024. Museum staff had long hoped to create a Reputation experience but waited until Swift re-released her version of the album to align with their commitment to using only artist-owned recordings. Kaitlynn Goulette, a 16-year-old amateur astronomer, educator at the Seymour Planetarium, and longtime Swift fan, began developing the show last summer in anticipation of the album's re-release. Goulette's accomplishments in astronomy outreach are already extensive. She is a graduate of the Arunah Hill Natural Science Center's 'Starwatch' leadership program, serves as a panelist for the Springfield Science Museum's online outreach series 'AstroQuest,' and holds a leadership position as director of the Springfield STARS Club. Her monthly astronomy newsletter, 'The Starry Scoop,' recently celebrated its fifth anniversary, and she recently launched a podcast of the same name to bring beginner-friendly space science to a wider audience. The Seymour Planetarium, part of the Springfield Science Museum, combines astronomical history with cutting-edge technology. It houses the world's oldest operating American-made star projector—the 86-year-old Korkosz 'star ball'—and now features Zeiss Velvet full-dome projectors, the only digital system globally that can render a true black sky background, enhancing the optical brilliance of the vintage Korkosz star field. With music, lights, and a cosmic backdrop, 'Reputation: Under the Stars' offers fans a new kind of listening party—one that's literally out of this world. WWLP-22News, an NBC affiliate, began broadcasting in March 1953 to provide local news, network, syndicated, and local programming to western Massachusetts. Cloonee Postpones L.A. Shows Amid ICE Raids: ‘I Will Not Throw a Party Whilst the Latino People Who Have Supported Me in This City Are Hurting'

As protests continue in Los Angeles following sweeping ICE raids, electronic producer Cloonee has postponed a pair of shows meant to happen in the city this weekend. 'For the past four years now, I have called this city my home,' the British artist wrote Tuesday (June 10) in a statement posted to social media. 'Like the city, my fans are diverse and it breaks my heart to see what the Latino community is going through right now. 'Our time together is meant to be one of celebration, and now is not the time for celebrating.' Read the complete statement below. These shows were scheduled to happen June 13-14 at City Market in downtown Los Angeles, an area of town that's seen myriad raids by ICE amid federal immigration efforts. Cloonee's shows are now scheduled to happen July 11-12, with all tickets valid for the corresponding new dates, with refunds also available for the next seven days. According to the L.A. Times, an immigrants-rights leader in the city reported that 'about 300 people have been detained by federal authorities in California since sweeps began last week.' The situation has been inflamed after the Trump administration deployed the National Guard and U.S. Marines to Los Angeles amid protests over ICE raids. Cloonee is one of many artists who's spoken out on the ICE raids and their aftermath, with Doechii using her speech at the BET Awards in Los Angeles on Monday (June 9) to say that 'I do wanna address what's happening right now outside of the building. There are ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order. Trump is using military force to stop a protest. And I want y'all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us. What type of government is that?' 'For the past four years now, I have called this city my home.
