Bowling Green Football Preview 2025: Falcons Make Bold Move With Eddie George
- Travis Partridge will handle the coordinator duties after cranking up the passing game for Eddie Georgia at Tennessee State. The running game won't go away, but it'll be more of a pass-heavy attack for the oft-traveled Drew Pyne to run. It's his sixth year in college, getting most of his production in a 2,021-yard, 22-touchdown pass season with Notre Dame in 2022. Lucian Anderson is still around after getting in a little bit of work as the No. 2 man last year.
- The receiving corps remains strong, but record-setting tight end Harold Fannin Jr. is off to the Cleveland Browns. Coming in is Arlis Boardingham (Florida), who made 44 grabs with six scores over the last two years with the Gators.Finn Hogan is a good outside option with experience, and now he'll get the ball his way more. Rahkeem Smith is the leading returning receiver with 25 catches.
- The backs won't be used as much as the receivers, but they won't be forgotten. JUCO transfer Chris McMillian has the quickness, and 22-pound Mar'Kel Porter should bring more thump.- The line has veteran parts. Tunde Fatukasi started out at Rutgers and worked last year as the Falcons' left tackle. Alex Padgett is a 330-pound interior blocker who can play guard or center, Jake Burns will likely work in the middle, and Nate Pabst can go anywhere.
- Defensive coordinator Brandon Fisher comes over from Tennessee State after a strong season. His Tiger D was terrific at getting into the backfield and great at taking the ball away. Unlike the offense, the defense will rely more on the transfer portal, except for …- The line gets back a slew of Falcons. Myles Bradley can be used as an outside linebacker or pass rushing edge option, and Collins Acheampong will get his shot on the other side after not seeing time at Miami or UCLA. There's not a ton of experience on the inside, but everyone in the rotation has been around the program for a few years.
- The linebacking corps needs a ton of work. Gideon Lampron (Dayton) was a monster tackler last year at the lower level - more on him in a moment - and after him it's … it'll take a bit. Several career backups need to rise up in fall camp.- The starting four/five in the secondary should be okay, but the depth isn't there, at least coming out of the offseason. Mayes Doggan (NW Missouri State) and JoJo Johnson (Indiana) are expected to step in and take over on the corners. Kal-El Pascal should grow into one of the safety gigs, and after missing a bulk of last season, Darius Lorfils will be one of the team's leading tacklers.
Bowling Green Falcons Key to the Season
The offensive line has to work.Everything will need tweaking under the new coaching staff, but the offensive line has the potential to be an early strength. At the very least, it has more stability than other positions. However, last year's starting five allowed too many tackles for loss and was just okay for the ground game. If the line is good, a slew of other things should fall into place.
Bowling Green Falcons Key Player
Drew Pyne, QB Sr.He's not big, and he's not much of a rusher, but he was good enough for a year at Notre Dame before the staff went big in the portal. He never clicked at Arizona State, and wasn't able to push for the Missouri gig. He has the big-time experience to be a leader, and he needs to make everyone around him better.
Bowling Green Falcons Top Transfer, Biggest Transfer Loss
Top Transfer In: Gideon Lampron, LB Sr.He's only 5-11ish and 215ish pounds, but he plays big, and he plays fast. After getting his feet wet as a sophomore at Dayton, he was unstoppable last season with 119 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and 26.5 tackles for loss, and he needs to be the same sort of game-wrecker for the Falcons.Top Transfer Out: Alex Wollschaelger, OT Sr.Again, the offensive line should be a plus, and the new staff can move some guys around, but the 6-7, 295-pound Wollschlaeger is a special blocker with NFL potential if he can crank up the weight. He'll get a chance to show off at Kentucky.
Bowling Green Falcons Key Game
Liberty, Sept. 13How fast can the program get up to speed? It should beat Lafayette to start the season, it'll get rocked by Cincinnati, and later at Louisville, and the opening two MAC games are against Ohio on the road followed up by a date with Toledo. There are other winnable games on the slate, so if the Falcons can get by Liberty, the dream of getting to six wins isn't crazy.- 2025 Bowling Green Schedule Breakdown
Bowling Green Falcons Top 10 Players

Bowling Green Falcons 2025 Season Prediction, Win Total, What Will Happen
How fast can this all be put together? The starting 22 should be okay, but the depth will be a problem over the first half of the season. The Falcons will take plenty of lumps, but Akron, at Kent State, Lafayette, and at UMass all have to be wins. There should be another victory after that, but again, any injury blips will screw this bunch up.It's a true rebuild, but as these things go, it might not be too painful.Set The Bowling Green Win Total At … 5Likely Wins: Lafayette50/50 Games: Akron, Buffalo, Central Michigan, at Eastern Michigan, at Kent State, at UMassLikely Losses: at Cincinnati, Liberty, at Louisville, at Ohio, Toledo

Eagles training camp notes: Young player's bad summer has become a nightmare. Can he recover?
PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles completed their 17th training camp practice on Tuesday and will have their final session on Wednesday. With the regular season almost two weeks away, things are becoming clear. Here are NJ Advance Media's five takeaways from Tuesday's practice: Nothing is final as of now, but a front runner has emerged at the Eagles' second cornerback spot. For the second straight day, Adoree' Jackson received the starting nod, and he helped his case by playing well. He had good coverage on undrafted free agent Darius Cooper near the left sideline, which forced quarterback Jalen Hurts to throw the ball out of bounds. He also had a couple of PBUs. Jackson's name didn't appear in my notes very often for a positive reason. He was steady in coverage throughout practice and looks to be the team's most reliable No. 2 CB option. Jackson has not played great during training camp, but he has outplayed Kelee Ringo. Nobody has had a worst outcome than Ringo, who began today with the third-team defense and later received reps with the 2's. Once considered the favorite to start, Ringo might be out of the running now. He didn't receive first-team snaps for the second consecutive practice and has seemingly been demoted. He also practiced during the developmental period — not a good sign. On one of the last plays, Elijah Cooks beat Ringo toward the sideline for a catch. The Eagles must be disappointed with the third-year cornerback. Jackson has to hold off Jakorian Bennett for CB2, but he has the slight advantage because he's been in the defense longer. But once Bennett feels comfortable — the former Raiders cornerback was traded to the Eagles two weeks ago — he could become the starter. The Eagles gave Bennett first-team reps in red-zone drills. Bennett could raise the ceiling of the defense, but Jackson is the safer choice. Don't forget about Mac McWilliams. He might not beat out Jackson and/or Bennett, but the Eagles could turn to him at some point. The fifth-rounder sacked quarterback Kyle McCord on a blitz. Second-year slot CB Cooper DeJean could play on the boundary in base looks. Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio put him on the outside in consecutive days. We are at the point of the year where it's better to be safe than sorry. The Eagles are taking a cautious approach with their injured players (there are many). Eagles WR A.J. Brown (hamstring), CB Tariq Castro-Fields (hamstring), S Lewis Cine (groin), OG Landon Dickerson (knee) and CB Brandon Johnson (groin) missed practice again. OT Jordan Mailata (concussion), backup QB Tanner McKee (finger) and DeVonta Smith (groin) suffered new injuries and were out. Tight end Dallas Goedert (groin) was also limited. McKee's finger injury doesn't need surgery, but it's not clear when he will return. A long-term absence would be concerning. It's important that Brown, Smith, Goedert, Mailata, Dickerson and McKee are available for most of the season. The injuries piled on during today's practice. Rookie safety Drew Mukuba appeared to suffer a hamstring injury during an individual drill and never returned to practice. Second-year wide receiver Johnny Wilson got rolled up during a team drill and couldn't put pressure on his left foot. He was later carted inside. The new Eagles wide receiver caught McCord's pass over the middle for a large gain and later caught a quick throw from Hurts. Metchie's short-area quickness is a plus. He could be a solid possession WR for the Eagles' offense this season and might grew into more. With Wilson down, the Eagles need Metchie to step up. He had one bad drop during practice but was good otherwise. On more than a few occasions, the rookie linebacker tackled Philadelphia's RBs for short gains. He matched the speed of Saquon Barkley — most NFL linebackers can't do that. The first-rounder from Alabama shut down running lanes on runs from Barkley and Will Shipley, and he quickly got out to the perimeter on passes. Campbell is grasping Fangio's scheme and seems ready for a big role Defensive tackle Jalen Carter batted down Hurts' pass during a team drill and wagged his finger to celebrate. Jeremiah Trotter. Jr blew up a shovel pass to Barkley, and backup safety Tristin McCollum ended practice with an interception on McCord. Thank you for relying on us to provide the journalism you can trust. Atlanta Falcons: Madden NFL 26 Super Bowl champions?
Yahoo Sports' Jason Fitz and Caroline Fenton react to Yahoo Sports' recent simulation of the upcoming NFL season that led to Atlanta beating the Houston Texans in the Super Bowl. View more Video Transcript 7.5 is the win total for the Atlanta Falcons. Like to me, that speaks to the fact that people believe in Michael Penix Jr. Like they're thinking he's gonna get to 8 wins based on what? That maybe it's based on our own Charles McDonald. Uh, Charles McDonald and I might have a little beef on this. He does an annual Madden simulation. It's one of my favorite things that are out there. And so he does it every year. The full results of the 2025 Madden sim are live on the website. Just a few minutes ago, they went up. Somehow, CMAC, the lifelong diehard Atlanta Falcons fan has gotten us to a simulation where the Falcons, the #6 seed, go on the road, dominate their way to a Super Bowl victory over the Texans. Dominate. Ray-Ray McLeod out here as the Super Bowl MVP. Atlanta goes on the road to Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, and San Francisco. I don't know who CMAC bribed with EA Sports, but like, man, I, I mean, and look, I'm jealous. This is, I'm jealous. I've done the simulation a million times. It's never come out with my beloved Raiders winning the Super Bowl. So I don't know, the conspiracy, I'm putting on my tin hat. I'm going full Caroline Fenton. I am now a conspiracy theorist. I believe that CMAC rigged the entire Madden simulation to make sure his Falcons won a Super Bowl. I think if you do the simulation enough times, you get enough variety of answers, right? So how many times did CMAC do that simulation just to see the Falcons potentially win a Super Bowl? However, I fear that is the only Super Bowl that the Falcons will be sniffing is in fantasyland hypothetical Madden simulation, at least this upcoming year. It looks 7.5 as the over-under win total. Let's go through their schedule. OK. Tampa Bay, I think that's a loss; at Minnesota, I think that's a loss. At Carolina. Sure, that's a game they can win. At home against Washington, yeah, I think that's a loss. Buffalo loss; at San Francisco, loss. I mean, we're through 12, 36 weeks of the season and I don't see a very clear and obvious win other than Carolina. So they're one in five. Right there, if they're one in five. And Michael Petty Jr. is struggling against good teams. Now all of a sudden we're right back in the Bryce Young territory where, all right, do they make a quarterback change? Are they gonna put in, like, there's, there's a reason why we're still sitting around here, you know, and there are two quarterback rooms, even though we don't want to talk about Kirk Cousins, like we don't talk about Bruno. Kirk Cousins is still on that roster. I'm just saying. Close

John Metchie makes instant impression in first practice with Eagles
Former Texans receiver John Metchie participated in his first Eagles' practice on Tuesday and is already building chemistry with the quarterbacks. As the session got underway, Metchie caught a short pass from Jalen Hurts with the first-team offense along the right sideline. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith were sidelined, leaving reps available for other receivers. Later on, Metchie elevated to secure a catch with the second unit. Following practice, Metchie spoke with reporters about his potential role with the Eagles. 'I'm just trying to bring something to the table,' Metchie said. 'Trying to bring something to a team that was already so good.' Metchie is reuniting with former Alabama teammate DeVonta Smith and stated that Smith was the first person to contact him after the trade. 'Just being the first one to welcome me, welcome me to the team, welcome me to the city, stuff like that,' Metchie said. 'Going to college together, being together for two years, you grow up together. In college you're around each other all day so you get a sense of each other. He'll probably help me get acclimated quicker.' In two seasons with the Texans, Metchie recorded 40 receptions for 412 yards and a touchdown. Metchie said he wasn't shocked that he was traded but wasn't worried about the outcome. With second-year receiver Johnny Wilson likely missing time, Metchie may play meaningful snaps sooner rather than later.
