Watch: Vlogger Leaves Restaurant After Eating Only Free Bread On Table. Internet Has A Lot To Say

NDTV16-07-2025
A content creator recently went viral for entering a restaurant and leaving immediately after eating the free bread provided at the table. The stunt has received a range of reactions online, with some calling it "courageous" and others finding it insensitive to staff. The now-viral reel was shared by a vlogger named Keith (@yung_earn) and was filmed in Johannesburg. At the beginning of the clip, he reads out a comment in which a social media user challenges him to "go to a restaurant but only eat the free bread that they give and then leave." Keith first wonders if one is allowed to do that, but decides to attempt exactly that.
He goes to "one of the fanciest and most expensive restaurants" he could find. At the entry, he asks a staff member if they permit walk-ins. They do, so he requests a table for one. After he is shown to his seat, he narrates that the server asked him if he wanted a specific type of water, which would apparently cost him 80 rand (approx Rs 383). Keith declines and asks for tap water instead. "He didn't look happy that I said glass of water," the vlogger says to the camera. He got his water and was then served the free bread.

The video shows him slitting the bun and spreading butter inside it. After he took a few bites, the waiter returned to check on what he would order. He replied, "To be honest, I think the bread has made me full already. I don't think I'll order anything." That's not all. He also requested the waiter to pack the remaining bread as a takeaway, and he obliged. The content creator thanked him, took his parcel and then left the restaurant. In the comments, people had a lot to say about the vlogger's actions. Some were impressed and reacted positively. Others claimed that such a stunt is disrespectful, as they felt he took advantage of the staff unfairly. The spot he visited is called The Big Mouth in Johannesburg. The restaurant seemed to take it in its stride, however, as it commented, "Hey Keith, your Big Mouth sure knows how to make a statement - but how about we make sure it's full of flavour next time? Let's upgrade that bread to a meal you won't forget, on us!"
Read some of the reactions of Instagram users below:
"Bro's a breadwinner."
"Bro ate and left no crumbs."
"This challenge was simply diabolical."
"I swear you are giving me ideas."
"They handled it with decorum, though. I respect that."
"Na man!!! You are one brave soul to try that."
"I would be embarrassed to do that."
"I work at the square, it's allowed according to company laws, but as a human being who has been in the same position as your waiter, that's heartless, especially since it is winter and business has been slow."
The viral video has clocked more than 440K views on Instagram so far.

LeBron James Shuts Down Doubters with Gym Selfies After Fresh Criticism of His 2020 NBA Title

LeBron James is an NBA legend (Image via Facebook / LeBron James) In the heat of another NBA offseason, LeBron James once again found himself defending his legacy. The Lakers superstar took to Instagram with a barrage of gym selfies, seemingly in response to Philadelphia 76ers executive Daryl Morey. The former Houston Rockets GM questioned the legitimacy of the Lakers' 2020 'bubble' championship, reopening a long-standing debate that has continued to divide fans and insiders. Daryl Morey Labels 2020 Title a Championship with an Asterisk In a recent interview with The Athletic, Morey acknowledged the unique challenges of the pandemic-era NBA season but downplayed the weight of the title. 'Everyone I speak to around the league privately agrees that it doesn't truly hold up as a genuine championship,' he said. While giving credit to the league's pandemic response, Morey added that the 2020 Lakers title would always carry an asterisk in the eyes of many. The comments stirred controversy online, bringing back criticism of the bubble format at Disney World. Critics often mock the 2020 title as a 'Mickey Mouse ring,' citing the lack of travel, empty arenas, and mental isolation that made the experience anything but ordinary. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 18 Unbelievable Luxurious Ocean Liners Learn More Undo LeBron James Hits Back on Instagram: 'You Damn Sure Won't Be Able to Say I Didn't Put in the WORK' LeBron James didn't name names, but his Instagram message on July 31 made his stance clear. Sharing photos from an intense workout, the 40-year-old wrote, 'Say whatever you want but you damn sure won't be able to say I didn't put in the WORK!! 👑. We'll see what happens when I no longer exist. Man F this Shhhhhh.' The statement was more than a caption - it was a direct rebuttal to those who undermine his accomplishments. At 40, LeBron remains among the league's most conditioned athletes, and this post was a message to doubters: his greatness didn't happen by accident. Former Teammates and Analysts Defend the Bubble Championship LeBron James' allies were quick to speak out. ESPN's Kendrick Perkins called the 2020 title 'one of the greatest championships… and hardest,' while former teammates reminded critics that all teams faced the same conditions in the bubble. One player said, 'If Houston would have beat us and won it, I'm sure they wouldn't be saying it wasn't real.' At the time of the NBA shutdown, the Lakers had the league's best record at 49-14. Analysts at The Athletic unanimously agreed the championship was legitimate and emphasized the mental toll of the bubble. 'The best team won the title in 2020, without question,' one columnist stated. LeBron Focused on Future Rings and Long-Term Legacy While Morey's comments sparked the reaction, LeBron's gym post also pointed to a deeper motivation - his legacy. Entering his 22nd season, LeBron James has opted into a $52.6 million contract with the Lakers and remains focused on adding another championship. Despite trade speculation and questions about retirement, his agent Rich Paul affirmed: 'He values a realistic chance of winning it all.' Community service, security boost, crowd control top clubs' Durga Puja grant spend wish list in Kolkata

Kolkata: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee's announcement of an increased grant of Rs 1.1 lakh to each registered Durga Puja committee in the state has added to the festive fervour. This move has been welcomed by organisers and the larger puja fraternity at a time when artisans are busy giving shape to Durga idols and pandals across the city. The announcement, an increase from last year's Rs 85,000, has sent the city's thousands of puja committees to the table to plan how to spend the money in the most efficient way. While the lights, pandals, and processions will certainly dazzle, organisers are prioritising security, crowd management, and community engagement this year. Part of the funds will also go towards increasing the pay of sanitation workers, electricians, and other essential service providers during the festival. Bhowanipur 75 Palli will spend the grant on promoting the 'Save Drive, Save Life' campaign, besides endorsing Bengal as a tourist destination. "We will put in place healthcare facilities," said Subir Das, secretary of the puja committee. The increased funding will also allow committees to enhance safety measures without compromising on artistic creativity, organisers said. Since Durga Puja was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2021, the festival has been attracting visitors from around the world. Gourab Biswas of United Club in Baguiati said the organisers would use the funds to increase fire safety measures in the pandal, insure the puja, and distribute clothes, books, and sweets among underprivileged children. "We will also use the funds to sensitise people about malaria and dengue," said Biswas. "We plan to use the funds to hire additional security personnel and grant will help us do that without cutting corners," said an organiser. The increased fund would help organisers of Durga Puja in Mohammad Ali Park to organise the festival efficiently, said Ashok Ojha, Joint Secretary of the Mohammad Ali Park Durga Puja committee. The budget for this Puja had dropped by 75% after after a portion of the park caved in a few years ago.
