Elio Digital, 4K, & Blu-ray Release Dates Set for Pixar Sci-Fi Movie
'The latest chapter in Disney and Pixar's storytelling legacy will fulfill your sense of wonder about outer space when alien-obsessed Elio Solís suddenly has a close encounter of the intergalactic kind. After trying everything to contact extraterrestrials, Elio is thrilled when they not only respond, but beam him up to their cosmic 'Communiverse,'' reads the official synopsis. 'Imagine his surprise when other planetary powers-that-be assume he is the leader of Earth! Elio's experience in the Communiverse not only expands his horizons but teaches him how important it is to build connections with loved ones back on Earth.'
When are the Elio digital, 4K, & Blu-ray release dates?
Elio will be available to rent or own digital platforms starting on August 19. It will then be followed by its 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on September 9. In addition, the 4K UHD will be available in a collectible limited edition SteelBook® with astronomically appealing artwork and packaging, displaying the beauty and wonder of Elio's adventure, along with a couple of his new extraterrestrial friends. Since its theatrical debut, the movie has garnered a Certified Fresh rating of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Welcome to The Athletic Collectibles Staff's Sports Card of the Week! Here we'll highlight a notable, interesting, or just plain fun sports card. This week, with Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh edging closer to a 60-plus home run season, we look back at a vintage baseball card of a player who achieved the milestone. The 1961 Topps Baseball set contains 587 cards and features three different Roger Maris cards, with his #2 base card being the most notable among collectors. Key Hall of Famers in the set include Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, as well as rookie cards of Juan Marichal and Billy Williams. The card shows a mild-mannered close-up of Maris in Yankee pinstripes, with a bat resting on his shoulder as he looks off to the side. His name stands out in bold red font on a yellow background positioned at the bottom left. This, combined with the card's standard white border design gives it a clean and classic look. Advertisement Maris' 1961 Topps #2 card is one of his most popular because of the historic season it represents. The 1961 season featured an epic home run race between Yankees sluggers Maris and Mantle as they chased Babe Ruth's single-season record of 60 home runs. Maris ultimately beat out Mantle and broke the long-standing record with 61 dingers. During the same season, Maris captured his second consecutive American League MVP award and his first World Series title. It was the peak of his baseball stardom and the defining moment of his career. In 2001, Billy Crystal produced and directed an HBO movie titled '61*,' which chronicles the 1961 baseball season and the home run race between Maris and Mantle. Despite Maris still not yet enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame, his 1961 Topps #2 remains highly sought-after because of the season it represents. The fact that he broke the home run record while playing for an iconic team like the Yankees further adds to its enduring collectibility. Of the nearly 6,000 Roger Maris 1961 Topps #2 graded by PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator), only one has achieved a Gem-Mint PSA 10 grade and has no recorded sales. The most common grade is PSA 4 (1,125 copies), which typically sells on eBay for around $80, depending on its visual appeal. Near-Mint-to-Mint examples graded a PSA 8 typically command prices exceeding $1,000. The record sale for a PSA 9 came in 2021, when one sold at auction for $12,148, but the next two highest sales came earlier this year at exactly $10,370 each in auctions three months apart. The PSA 9 population is just 24. The card's popularity compared to other Roger Maris cards is reflected in the number of PSA graded examples (total population of 5,985). The only Maris card that's been graded more by PSA is his 1958 Topps rookie card (total population of 7,171), according to GemRate, which tracks graded card populations. Some sports moments can only happen in video games, like Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark dunking on superstar Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James. While that's an improbable scenario in real life despite how amazing Clark is at basketball, NBA 2K26 allows for gamers to pit the two hoops legends against each other to the point where Clark can actually dunk on James. A viral clip from the upcoming NBA/WNBA video game shows Clark dunking on James and even taunting him after the fact. Again, this can only happen in a video game, but what a glorious example of why video games are so fun. Watch this as many times as you'd like! Baltimore celebrates 10 years of Motor House, a beloved creative hub
Baltimore Arts Realty Corporation (BARC) is celebrating 10 years of one of the city's most beloved creative hubs, Motor House. The two-day event spotlights emerging designers, local artists and creativity. This celebration comes almost two months after a car crashed through its building, causing the creative hub to close for a few days. Organizers told WJZ that overcoming the obstacle is what makes this anniversary event more special. "The Motor House has been able to really get our community to rally around," said Jessica Smith, managing director of Motor House. "What are the possibilities of what this space can be— and in 10 years, this is the time when you start to reimagine what else do we want to add." "So actually, sometimes an interesting situation can actually be something that helps bring everybody together," she added. "That was our number one priority, was not getting the doors back open, because we don't have a door anymore, but you know, making sure that we were open and ready for business for you," said Toni Martin, the program director for BARC. During the event, artists showcased their work through runway shows, hands-on workshops, artist-led lectures, and community programming, highlighting Baltimore's bold creative spirit. On Saturday, the celebration continued with an upcycling workshop led by sustainable fashion designers, wearable artists and makers who shared hands-on techniques and creative guidance. Featured creatives included Caprece Ann Jackson, a sustainable fashion curator and ambassador, and Evette Monique, a rising designer who has shown at Milan and London fashion weeks. Upcoming events to celebrate Motor House's 10-year anniversary include a VIP reception on October 9, a public celebration on October 10, and a culminating event on November 1, featuring a screening of the full short documentary in the Black Box Theatre at Motor House. The multidisciplinary arts hub in the heart of the Station North Arts and Entertainment District has been a cornerstone of Baltimore's creative community since BARC founded it in 2015.
